FRIDAY: Chanel Sale at Bergdorf Goodman

Everyone loves a good mystery and Chanel has done an excellent job keeping customers waiting in suspense for its first markdown. Sales associates all over the city earnestly had no information about an impending sale. Many salespeople repeated the rumor that there would be absolutely no sale, anywhere, this season.

Technically speaking, Chanel boutiques will not host a markdown this season. Shoppers with experience know that a Chanel markdown would occur at some point, and we have officially reached that point.

Madison Avenue Spy has received early information that Bergdorf Goodman will quietly host a private presale on Chanel shoes starting this FRIDAY morning. This presale is invitation only and will begin before the store opens to the general public. The discount will be 30% off retail.

The official list of what’s included in the markdown will not be available until Monday morning. Obviously, we wouldn’t allow Bergdorfs to withhold such valuable information. We enlisted the expertise of the most experienced Chanel sale associates and put together a picture library of what we expect to be included in the markdown. You can click here to see pictures of what we anticipate to be on sale based on inventory levels, customer feedback, and seasonality. We also expect that Bergdorfs will pull past season merchandise onto the sales floor too.

Naturally, our investigation didn’t end at Bergdorfs. Our spies at Bloomingdale’s say that they haven’t received any directives from Chanel but they do have a closet of past season’s shoes that will be included when their markdown happen. You can click here to see. The discounts on these shoes are 60%.

Our senior manager contact Barneys says she is baffled over the Chanel mystery. She even questioned if there would be a sale at all. (We know the answer.) The story was very similar at Saks. Salespeople insisted that all markdowns will be coordinated across all retail outlets. (Apparently not.)

For now, we look forward to FRIDAY morning at Bergdorf Goodman. Feel free to email our sales contact for an invitation. We apologize in advance, but we can’t promise that he will be able to accommodate everyone. This sale preview is for “serious shoppers only.”

Second Markdown Alert: Net A Porter

‘Tis the season of markdowns and shopping. Net-A-Porter will start its second markdown Thursday morning. Prices will be reduced up to 70% off and many popular style bags and fashion are still in stock.

Among the bag selection, you can expect to find most styles discounted 40% to 50% off. Some items we’ve been watching include this Prada crossbody that is sure to be at least 50% off once the additional markdown hits. It’s perfect to keep all the essentials– wallet, phone, lipstick– and still be small and light. We also like this woven Fendi Kan I that seems festive enough for the holiday season but the colors will also work great for Summer. This Wandler bag in gray and white is a great inexpensive bag and it might even hit 60% off and we also spotted this Balenciaga quilted XS market bag.

The discounts on shoes will range from 40% to 70% off, with most styles getting the 60% markdown treatment. Among the most heavily reduced shoes are these Saint Laurent Niki ankle boots that are poised to go to 60% off and these Stuart Weitzman ankle boots are just as good but one-third of the price. You really can’t go wrong grabbing these Balenciaga pool slides for Amanera or just save them for next Summer. There are also a lot of Golden Goose sneaker options if you’ve been eyeing a pair for yourself or as a gift.

Expect to find an infinite array of clothing discounted 70% off. Have you felt the luscious cashmere in an Alanui cardigan? It’s like delicious hot chocolate draped over the body. After another markdown, it’s a serious consideration. This Monse stripped sweater sold out immediately after we linked to it on Shopbop, it’s still here on NAP. Here is a Miu Miu puffer that is an excellent buy even now. How can you resist joining the Balmain army by means of sweatshirt? Or how about a simply pretty dress from Ellery?

The new markdown won’t go live until Thursday morning but the best merchandise will go sell out fast. We suggest you pile up that cart and edit before dawn.

Gifts for the Woman Who Shops (a Lot)

We’ve done a lot of gift guides this season. We’ve covered what to buy your corporate clients, your over-indulged teenager and the men in your life. We’ve left the hardest for last because she is nearly impossible to satisfy. She is an oxymoron, a contradiction, an enigma but that’s what keeps her interesting. Simply put, she is the type of girl that likes to drive fast but prefers to be driven.

Before we jump right in, I hope you don’t mind if I offer a little bit of relationship advice. Whatever he buys you– don’t return it! Once you return enough gifts he will feel defeated and stop buying them. Keep it– even if it’s too expensive, not the right color or completely not your taste. If it’s actually that bad, secretly return it but never let him know.

Same rule goes for your children. Give them the opportunity to enjoy the experience of giving even if it means wearing it just once and hiding it for the rest of your days.

So, now, we present the definitive gift guide on getting it right so that she wears it often, loves it, and cherishes it forever. (As if that actually exists.) Just in case, always shop where purchases can be returned for a full refund and never throw out the receipt.

Balenciaga logo sweater ($1390) or Balenciaga logo hat ($255)
Christofle 24-piece cutlery set in egg ($1250)
    Fendi x Fila tote ($1890)
    Foundrae necklace and pendant ($1995)
    Byredo Gypsy Water perfume ($165)
Gabriela Hearst ankle boots ($480 from $1200)
Alanui cashmere cardigan coat  ($1100 from $3270)
Lark & Berry Halo diamond pavé tro necklace ($1650)
    Prada puffer ($1600 from $2540)
Gucci Ophidie GG small shoulder bag ($1390)
    Ejing Zhang earrings ($265)

ShopBop Pre-Holiday Discounts 30% Off Sale

Usually, you have to wait until after Christmas to take advantage of a great Shopbop discount but you can start saving big right now. This sale is earlier and bigger than ever. For three days only you can save an extra 30% off sale merchandise. Use the code JOY18 when checking out to engage the additional discount.

The sale officially begins Tuesday but we suggest you use this early news to begin browsing and organizing your shopping cart for speedy checkout.

We love stocking up on workout wear at this time of year. As the weather shifts to cold, our older gym options start feeling dull. You can grab these Ultracore leggings with pineapples for just $96 from $185 and the bra top is about $75 from $130. Here are APL sneakers that come to about $65 from $165. Here is a Korel pullover to keep you from freezing while getting to the gym that will come to $44 from $128 and Korel sweatpants to wear over your leggings are $92 from $185.

Moving quickly on to our other winter obsession: Jeans and sweaters. R13 jeans are way too expensive to buy at full price but these MILF jeans are definitely a consideration at about $170 from $385. We also love the oversized cuff on these James Jeans, which will be about $70 from $180. We found this Monse wool sweater and it looks incredibly chic either dressed up or down . It comes to about $670 from nearly $1900. Here is a Markus Lupfer sweater that will only be just $140 from @400.

Some more dressed up New Years worthy options include this Temperley London umbré sequined dress that’s about $1100 from $2500 after the promotional discount. A No21 sequin minidress will be $640 from $2345 and a Galexy jumpsuit from Galvan London will be about $700 from $1750.

The promotion runs through Thursday. It’s all over at the strike of midnight. That’s midnight Pacific Time, which gives us East Coasters a few extra hours to shop for the perfect holiday gift or New Years ensemble.

    Details: Christian Louboutin Sample Sale

Ladies, have you been naughty or nice?

Christian Louboutin sent their best friends invitations to its exclusive sample sale. That’s right, the sale that everyone loves to hate will start on Monday. Remember, the security is tight and there’s a clear mean-girls hierarchy to who gets invited to shop first.

The most important Louboutin insiders– glossy magazine editors and celebrities– are known to be invited to begin shopping by appointment on the first few days. The sale extends all week as the invited guest list expands to allow the general press and “friends and family.”

Last season, prices started at just $200 but most styles were priced in the $300-range. The most expensive style shoes were $1000. A majority of the heels and studded variety pumps were priced between $300 and $400. For example, studded kitten heels were $300 and $2300 studded knee-high boots were just $600.

If you have an invite (or if you’re considering door-busting this sale), we suggest that you start your day early. Last year, shoppers reported more than 50 people in line by 7:00am. Be prepared to stand in line, outside, for at least two hours. You will be asked to provide ID when checking in. There also usually a limit on how many shoes you can buy.

Those who weren’t invited to the sale can now save 40% at Christian Louboutin boutiques and Saks in NYC and 50% at Barneys. It appears as if all authorized online retailers have removed Louboutin sale styles. Fear not, we found some other– less obvious– options to shop for red bottoms online. Use the above scroll to see what we found.

Before you head to the store, you can browse the in-store sale section in this previous post. To be clear, I don’t have an invite to the sale this year and I can’t help you get an invite. To those who work at Christian Louboutin: No, I’m not deleting the post for an invite or free shoes.

If you are one of the lucky VIP insiders, we would love to hear all about it. For now, you can follow along on Instagram to get up-to-the-minute updates.

Where to Get Gucci On Sale Now

You’re not alone if you’ve been waiting for a good Gucci markdown before the holidays. Even Gucci employees are getting frustrated hoping for a markdown to help with the financial blow of appeasing wishful family and friends. We are sorry to say that it’s not going to happen. At least not before the holidays.

That doesn’t mean all hope is lost. We’ve uncovered a few key destinations where you can score some Gucci markdowns.

Bloomingdales is probably the closest and easiest store to shop for Gucci deals. The selection isn’t very large but there are a few shoe styles from which to choose. Here are glitter pumps for $600 from $1200 and lace platform sneakers are $445 from $890.

Barneys also has some discount Gucci shoes but none are available online. You can click here to see pictures we took inside the store. The markdown is currently 40% off plus an extra 30%, which brings the total discount to nearly 60% off.

The discounted bags aren’t online but you can check out pictures from the store right here. The sale assortment includes the jeweled G-style and We also listed our Kirna contact if you want in-store product details.

Further Downtown, Kirna Zabete has several pieces of Gucci marked down. The best part is that the sale section includes bags. The discount ranges from 30% to 50% off and we are told that an additional markdown is coming soon. Check out thisGucci Cities tee that’s now $588 from $980, a bedazzled Gucci logo sweatshirt is $800 from $1600, and this silk blouse is the same price. These Jordaan loafers are $417 from $695 and this velvet logo style loafer is $511 from $730.

An even larger online Gucci sale selection can be found at LN-CC. Here is a Gucci tote that’s reduced by 40% or $1362 from $2270, iconic Guccy sneakers are $475 from $950 and a floral embroidered hat is $620 from $1240. There is also a great selection of sale Gucci for men.

Another good site to stalk for sale Gucci are Italist, where discounts range from 20% to 40% off. We found this mini striped bag for $585 from $766, a Yankee collab scarf is $468 from $611, and Flashtreck sneakers are $614 from $805.

The Gucci boutique sale won’t happen until after New Years. We hear the discounts will be limited to only Gucci  employees. The January markdown will take place online and in stores but you’ll need a special code. You know where to send info if it comes your way.

Gift Guide: What to Buy the Guys

It can be quite stressful figuring out what gifts to give the men in our lives ; husbands-boyfriends-significant others. We searched Madison Avenue and the cyber universe for the best day gifts for all types of guys. Below are a few of our favorites:

Apple Airpods ($160): It’s a no-brainer and a big crowd pleaser. If he doesn’t already have them, get ’em.

Dior x Kim Jones x Kaws backpack ($1900): The first thing Kim Jones did after being appointed Dior’s Homme director was to team up with legendary artist, Kaws. This has been the hottest collaboration of the season and the scurry to get merchandise was almost as frantic as LVMH x Supreme.

Zadeh gold and cord bracelet ($460): Buying jewelry for a man can be very difficult. We love how Zadeh’s handcrafted fine jewelry can be stacked or worn alone. She also just opened a boutique on Madison Avenue that has an abundance of gift options for guys. We think he will love it.

Bang & Olufsen A9 wireless speaker ($2600): Guys love their tech and they love their music. The B&O A9 combines everything you want from a high-quality speaker with great design. It’s actually a work of art that looks great in a room. You can think of it as a gift for yourself as long as you don’t mind his taste in music.

Stone Island sweater ($265): Forget about Moncler, Stone Island has become one of the biggest names in fashion for men. The brand combines sportswear and streetwear in a luxury garment that is high quality and has lots of street cred.

Amiri hoodie ($875): Michael Amiri combines California rock style with super luxury craftsmanship. This is the perfect item for guys who are more sophisticated than the Supreme crowd but still like flex their style at Vagas clubs.

Off-White puffer ($1350 from $2110): From London to Tokyo to New York, Off-White is the must-have brand for international jet-setters. The brand represents world-wide cool with a strong heritage in luxury. Let me know if you have a trick to get him to hang up his jacket once he gets home.

Gucci Yankees ($420): Yes, Gucci is still a thing and the Yankees are a New York classic. We wish we could say the same thing about carrying cash but at least a wallet is good to hold credit cards.

Balenciaga Triple S ($895): This daddy sneaker isn’t running off the hit list just yet. They are still selling out and if you can find a pair in his size you might want to grab them.

Vacheron Constantin 18k pink gold and alligator watch ($36,800): A Vacheron is refined luxury watch. It’s not flashy like an Audemars and isn’t mass marketed like a Rolex. Only a few men are sophisticated and refined enough to spot one but you know it when you see it.

Bergdorf Goodman 2nd Markdown (Dior and 90+ pics)

Bergdorf Goodman will start its second markdown on Thursday. Shoes and handbags will be 50% off and clothing will be discounted 60%. You will also see some newcomers in the markdown area, including Dior and Cuccinelli.

For the past week, Bergdorf has been hosting a promotion where sale merchandise was discounted an additional 25%. That technically brought the discount to 47.5% on shoes and bags, which isn’t a large spread from this second markdown of 50% off.

We suggest you hit Bergdorf right now and purchase whatever you like. The 2.5% difference is nominal in most instances but the promotional push is sure to drive lots of shoppers tomorrow. We believe customers who were unaware of the promotion will hit the store hard thinking that this is the chance to score big. We have sale pictures from inside the store right here.

Some standouts in the bag department include Balenciaga Bolide-style bags in aqua and logomania print, which come to about $1100 from $2159. There is also an impressive quantity of these triangle bags that are about $1000. If your bag needs a cape you can still get it online for about $400 from $750. There are also a few Chloe style bags like this print style Drew and baby quilted Drew bags in red and tan. Among the Valentino, there is still one Candy Rockstud in black and white. You can see pictures of everything at the store in the jump.

You should also take this opportunity to start shopping from our Dior pictures now. We have images of the entire sale selection right here. The discount is 30% off. Dior clothing and shoes aren’t sold online so you will need to contact a sales associate. Our favorite shoe guy is detailed below.

Outside of the Dior shoe selection, there is still an enormous variety. There are plenty of classic Manolos, Louboutins, Gianvitto Rossi, and Jimmy Choo. Chloe scalloped heels are $323 from $575, Prada shoes are $365 from $750 and navy classic Manolos are $407 from $725.

This latest markdown is all we are going to see until Christmas Day. The big promotions will begin again after then+. Stay tuned and don’t forget to continue on to see all of our pictures.
