Barneys shoppers can begin to pre-sale for the first markdown starting Monday. The discount is 40% across the board– clothing, shoes and bags for men, women and children. Besides the outstanding selection, 40% discounts make Barneys the best department store to shop for holiday deals.
Among the reduced items are Saint Laurent Sac du Jours in several shades, like red, purple and embossed croc black. Among the Fendi sale bags is the 2Jours in wine. There is also a large assortment of Givenchy bags included in the markdown like the Antigona, the Pandora and a variety of shoppers. In the shoe department, you can count on lots of Manolo Blahnik and Valentino, Gianvito Rossi, Aquazzara and yes, select styles of Christian Louboutin.
The sale goes public on December 1. Barneys’ sales associates aren’t always forthcoming with pre-sales. If there is an item you want to secure, we suggest that you give your name and number to the respective brand associate and have them call you when the discount becomes available. You can usually expect a call within hours of leaving the store.
In a sea of bags priced over $2,000, Mansur Gavriel has become one of the most talked about brands in fashion. The Italian-crafted minimalistic bags have dominated the market partly because of their moderate prices, which range from about $500 to $700.
Like good wine or great coffee, the bags are produced in small batches. That means that there is always more demand than supply. We wouldn’t categorize the MG shopping experience as difficult but we loath the waitlist experience. What’s why we are giving you a heads up that Net-A-Porter has a selection of MG bags available now.
The inventory includes an assortment of styles including the popular tote and bucket bag in a variety of colors. Head this way to snag the popular black tote with the red interior ($585). Here’s a bucket bag style in Black/Ballerina inside combo ($595) or a Camel/ Rose combination. Other available colors include Sand and Emerald.
If you’re in the market, we suggest you snag one of these styles now. It will become increasingly more difficult to track down these MG bags as the holidays draw closer.
Gucci has stated their online fall/winter presale, or private sale–as they like to say. The markdown is about 50% on clothing and shoes. Bags are reduced about 30%. You can use this link to access the sale merchandise.
It seems as if Alessandro Michele has been able to kick it up a notch but we don’t see people welcoming Gucci back into their homes. What do you think?
Moda Operandi is hosting a private sale where a large assortment of designer bags, clothing and shoes are discounted 50% off. To access the sale you must use this link and enter the code HALFOFF at checkout. The promotion ends Saturday, November 22.
According to the sort mechanism there are more than 4000 items included in the sale. Some highlights include a JW Anderson sweater that comes to $400, an embellished No. 21 skirt is about $500 and an embroidered Delpozo top is $1300.
Some merchandise are leftovers from prior seasons but there are some great items if you take the time to sort through it all. Take note, the stewed Moda Operandi sale usually starts Black Friday and markdowns are 30% to 50% off.
Target chose Adam Lippes to follow up the blockbuster Lilly Pulitzer collaboration. We were very dubious about how the New York-based designer would be received nationwide. To find the answer one only need to check the Target website. Right now, a large assortment of the collaboration merchandise is discounted 80% off.
The collection launched on September 28 and the most talked about items included the plaid bucket bag, which is now reduced 30% to $28. If you’re looking for better deals direct your attention towards this throw blanket that’s $9 from $29, a shearing backpack thats $20 from $40 and appetizer plates that are $7 from $30.
There is a great deal of Lippes merchandise still in stores. We usually find the prices on clothing and accessories are less expensive on the sales racks than on the website.
Temperatures are dropping and so are prices. Today, we collected markdown intelligence from Madison Avenue boutiques that are beginning pre-sale and discounts. Take note, some stores can be a bit cagey about their pre-sales. It’s best to ask for a particular sales associate or call ahead to see if an appointment is necessary. It’s still early in the season for great boutique discounts, so we’ll just call this our shopping amuse bouche. Enjoy!
Be sure to follow along on Instagram and Twitter for pictures and real-time updates.

Lanvin
It’s hard to know if you should boycott Lanvin or buy everything left that was designed by Albert Elbaz. We would suggest going with the latter considering that the markdown will be 50% off most everything in the store. The official “private pre-sale event” will be on Thursday from 3pm to 7pm. Frankly, earnest shoppers can pre-sale at any time. Merchandise can be taken home as early as Monday, November 23. The sale officially begins Black Friday.

Those who want to take advantage of the pre-sale should take note that merchandise can’t be taken home until the sale is public on November 27. Also take note that there is currently a Proenza sample sale. You can see details about that sale right here.

The holidays are usually a great time of year for friends and family to spend extra quality time. That usually means pulling out extra blankets and pillows for overnight guests. Our usual rule is three nights max but not all guests subscribe to our rules.
Regardless of how long your guests are staying you always want to make them feel welcome and comfortable in your home. Even though your home isn’t a five star hotel, there are a few ways you can go the extra mile to make your guests feel extra special.
Fresh Crisp Linens
There are few things more enjoyable than getting into a bed with crisp clean linens. If you feel like the linens you already have are getting tired, this is the opportune time to freshen things up. Don’t worry too much about thread count just make sure that whatever you buy is 100% cotton. Bloomingdales carries top luxury brands, including Frette, Sferra and Yves Delorme. If you’re looking for less expensive options, you can check out Bed, Bath & Beyond or Amazon if you prefer something delivered to your door. For discount luxury bedding, keep an eye on Gilt.
Fresh Flowers
When guests are coming I like to scatter several bud vases around the house with light color roses. You can surprise your guests and put them in the bathrooms, on a dresser or besides the bed. CB2 has a variety of inexpensive bud vases or you can grab this beautiful Alessi Vase almost half price on Gilt. My favorite vases right now are the colorful acrylic assortment from Alexandra Von Furstenberg.
Scented Candles
Creating a nice atmosphere means warming all the senses. When the kitchen isn’t overflowing with food, I like to light up scented candles around the house. One note, try to keep the smells similar if you are lighting more than one candle. Fragrance can easily become overwhelming too. You don’t want to have a cinnamon sent mixing with a light floral smell. Some of my favorite candles are Diptyque, Jo Malone and Missoni.
Morning Barista
Most people wake up and want a warm delicious cup of coffee. There is no reason why your guests should have to open their eyes and roll into a Starbucks. Start the day off with an easy fresh cappuccino. I especially like the Nespresso machines, which are very affordable. If you’re more of a coffee gourmand, try starting the day with a french press and your favorite brew.
Apple TV
The best guests know how to retreat at the right time. I like to furnish all my guest bedrooms with Apple TV and Netflix so that my company can relax and watch a movie alone in their room. This also gives me time to recharge and watch my favorite shows alone.
The Charlotte Olympia sample sale started early this morning. The sale includes a variety of the designer’s quirky heels and a scattering of kitty flats. Prices are indicated by sticker and start at $150 and go up to $400 for an elaborate bag.
Many shoe styles, including flats, are $250. Most of the selection are summer styles but there is a scattering of in-season and holiday inspired theme shoes. Sizes run from 34 to 42 but the best selection goes to those who wear a size 36. You can click here to see a range of pictures of shoes and bags that we found at the sale.
Considering the limited inventory, we might suggest you head to the Madison Avenue boutique where they started their pre-sale. Prices are 50% off. You can head here and here to see picture books of all items included in the sale at the boutique. The best part is that if you don’t live in New York they will ship to you and most destinations don’t need to pay sales tax.
