    Vacation Edit: Sale-ing into Paradise

The weather in New York isn’t as bad as it could be but who isn’t dreaming of the comfort of a plush lounge chair and soft swoosh of the Carribean tide? Now that the holiday season is done, the next order of business is to shop for upcoming trips to blue skies, warm water, and white sand.

    Yes, it’s the vacation edit!

What can be better than leaving on vacation with an entirly new wardrobe? The idea is thrilling and with these sale prices it’s completly a viable idea.

Intermix still has a lot of great items left from last Summer and the discounts top 75% off. Here is an adorable fuschia dress from Jonathan Simkhai that is $240 from $700. How about an Alexis pinstripe romper for  $71 from $418? There is no reason to pass up this denim skirt from Frame for $50 from $215. Here is a sequin slip dress that’s almost as dazzling as a tropical sunset and it’s only $220 from $625. You can’t go wrong matching this rainbow sweater with white jeans for a causual dinner.

You can easily wardrobe yourself for a 10-days in Anguilla straight out of the Intermix sale section alone. There are about a dozen styles of sandals from Anciant Greek that come to about $70. These are neutral enough to go with just about anything and check out at $71 from $280.

The same could be said for Shopbop where through Thursday, you can save an additional 25% off sale merchandise. Use the code Hello2019 at checkout to engage the additional savings. Over here is an Ulla Johnson ruffled dress that comes to $140 from $500. These Oscar de la Renta garden earrings are irresistable at $190 from $490. A wicker cross-body bag is perfect for a drive into town. This one is $60 from $200.

We still need sunglasses! Try these Fendi cat shaped frames that are $200 from nearly $400. Linda Farrow’s round frame is nearly perfect and we love the light colored lenses. You can leave your personality at home because these exaggerated cat eyes with studds from No. 21 have just enough to make a statment.

Last, grab a few key tees that can spice up basic bottoms. Here is a Versace tee from Barneys that’s $250 from $650. This Fendi graphic tee is $219 from $900. Saks has this Balmain bodysuit for $315 from over $1000 and Net-A-Porter has this classic Balmain gold and black tank is $200 from $300. Over here is a Miu Miu tee that’s $238 from $600 and a Palm Angels tee is $135 from $270.

If you don’t already have a plan to get out of dodge (read: the cold weather), just remember June is only six months away. It’s never too early to practice bikini optimism.

    Manolo Blahnik’s First Markdown

The new year means many things to different people. To us, the new year is the start of Manolo season. Every year, the Manolo Blahnik boutique takes their first markdown following the big ball drop.

Currently, shoes and boots from the winter collection are now discounted to 40% off. This markdown should not cause too much excitement considering that department stores are running sales where Manolos are 60% off and even more.

In a few weeks you can expect the discount to drop to 50% off and by early February the discount climbs to 75% off. That’s when we come running. You can click here to see our Manolo closeout coverage from last year where we found lots of ornate and iconic styles for just $250. For now, you can browse the scroll. We dug up some heavily Manolos discounted that you can buy right now.

New Year: New Markdowns (DSM, Corso Como, FiveStory)

It’s been an eventful week of holidays, travel, family and online shopping. While we’ve been merrymaking, markdowns have continued. Below are a few key sales around town. We have pictures from inside the stores in the jump.

    10 Corso Como

Its only been about three months since 10 Corso Como opened its doors in the Seaport District. It didn’t take long for Upper East Siders to embrace the FDR road trip and long Prosseco lunches. This is the store’s first sale season and we were excited to explore. We spotted Balenciaga Triple S sneakers reduced 50% off, but only in green and only a few sizes remain. You can see pictures over here. There is also an assortment of Prada, Alaia and Vetement shoes reduced 50%. On a table in the back, there are a few styles of Prada bags and Danse Lenta bags also reduced 50% off. There is also a medium-sized assortment of clothing that’s half-off. Expect to find lots of Maison Margiela, Sies Marjan, and Comme Des Garsons.

    Dover Street Market
Too many people have never explored the wonders of DSM. We can’t recommend it enough and now that discounts have hit 70% off you have no excuse. During a pre-New Years jaunt, we found racks of Prada, for men and women, reduced 70% off. This Prada sweater comes to $300 from $1000. There was also this skirt. We also spotted Balenciaga tweed BB booties and slingbacks for 70% off too. Here are some pictures.

    FiveStory
The discounts at Fivestory have hit 70% off. We suggest you dig in now rather than waiting for the rush of its Bi-annual Offsite Sale. Lots of Rosie Assouline is reduced 70% off. We love this as a soiree dress. Most Off White is reduced by 60%. This Alanui cardigan is half-off and there is only one left. We also found some Jimmy Choo shoes reduced 60% to 70% off. These Romy heels are $300 from $1000.

    Final Markdowns: Ringing Out 2018

The year is abruptly coming to an end– as it always seems to do. Stores have kept with one of 2018’s top trends of early markdowns and already shifted into their final discounts of the season.

Barneys took markdowns to 75% off. You can read about it and see pictures over here. Saks took the latest markdown on Christmas and discounts at Bergdorf went to 75% off on Friday.

Don’t let these final markdowns fool you, in some instances, previous promotions provided steeper savings. Before the “Final Event” markdown at Bergdorf’s, all sale items were an additional 33% off. Now that the promotion expired, many categories of merchandise are more expensive. For now, you can use our spreadsheet to determine where to make your final 2018 purchases.

Take note, some items may be reduced more than what’s indicated on the chart but we took the liberty of generalizing according to the brands and items we like most. (P.S. Bergdrof will begin running another sale promotion January 11. ????)

    Bergdrofs: Third (Final) Markdown

Bergdorf Goodman and the non-Manhattan Neiman Marcus will be the latest department stores to take their winter merchandise to the third markdown. The discount at Neiman Marcus will be up to 70% off and Bergdorf’s discounts will hit 75% off.

The markdowns will officially go live Friday morning.  As usual, I suggest you begin your browsing before the sale battalions take over. I’ve already started sticking items in my cart like these Balenciaga slides that are perfect for vacation. I just don’t know if I should get them for myself or for one of my daughters. These Gianvitto Rossi short boots are classic and NY City walking approved and this Aquazzura embellished d’Orsay is whispering, “Wear me for New Years!” Do you hear it?

I would have thought that all the bags would be sold out by now but I did find a few that I’m considering.  I love the understated lines of this Equestrian bag from The Row. I am also considering adding a few brown alternatives to my accessory collection. If you’ve been eyeing a Balenciaga bag, Neiman Marcus still has a few options that are already discounted considerably. What do we think of this Tom Ford Tara bag?

This next markdown will bring our primary focus to clothing. There are still many great options and a 75% off reduction is going to make it hard to choose. Here is a Cinq a Sept ruffled dress that’s perfect for New Years and it’s currently just $155. It comes in red too. This Balmain sequined dress might be a more attention-grabbing option for the countdown to 2019.

A New Year means a new you. I refuse to spend a lot of money on gym clothing. I think it’s because I rarely wear them outside the gym and never subscribed to the athleisure wardrobe movement. That being said, I love leggings that make me look great. I’m a big fan of Koral Activewear and Monroe and love finding big discounts. I’m keeping an eye on this shiny grey sports bra and these basic shiny leggings.

I must admit that the selection and sizing are better at Neiman Marcus but it pays to browse both sites. The companies have become very good at avoiding overlap and the assortments are quite different.

These are the final markdowns at both stores but later this month there will be additional discount promotions. You just never know what merchandise will last that long.

The Five Best Places to Shop After Christmas

Black Friday is for the amateurs. Real shoppers sharpen elbows for the day after Christmas. It’s the time of year where you can still find a rather good selection of merchandise that’s highly discounted. Over the course of the week, you’ll also find great opportunities to pounce on hard-to-find items that may have just been returned.

Below are some of our favorite post-Christmas shopping destinations. Share your favorites in the comment section below:

    1. Saks Fifth Avenue
Before the holiday, we posted the VIP link to access the most recent markdown at Saks. The sale is now public online and in-store shoppers can begin accessing 70% off savings on Wednesday. A lot of the most coveted bags sold out as soon as the private link arrived in mailboxes. This plaid Balenciaga BB bag is still left and it’s just $680 from almost $2000 and these Altuzarra boots are $466 from $1300.

    2. Bergdorf Goodman
If the current 25% off promotion isn’t enough, you can pounce on the post-Xmas promotion of 33% off sale merchandise. This promotion will only run for two days. After, Bergdorf will take its final official markdown, where discounts will top 75% off. We are keeping an eye on this ultra-lux Gabriela Hearst coat and these Chloe Rylee boots that are still left.

    3. Nordstrom
Nordstrom’s best sale of the season just went live online. The promotion boasts discounts up to 50% off but designer merchandise is reduced much more. Here is a Johanna Oritz open-back sweater that’s 70% off and this Jonathan Simkhai classic dress is 60% off.

    4. FWRD by Elyse Walker
Maybe you didn’t get exactly what you want for Chrismas. Ladies, sometimes you have to take the important things into your own hands. We are pretty sure you will find some fashion pleasure at FWRD. The markdowns aren’t as deep as other retailers but the assortment is very good. I’m in love with this evergreen Saint Laurent College bag that’s $1715 from $2100 or this Fendi belt bag. While we’re talking about FWRD, can someone tell me why every model looks like it’s been cloned after Danielle Bernstein of We Wore What? She’s even gone from blond to brunette– just like Danielle!

    4. Neiman Marcus
Set your alarm clocks. Starting at 6am CST, Neiman Marcus will be offering customers an additional 50% off some already reduced merchandise. The promotion will only last for the day, so we suggest you work fast– or maybe start loading your cart now. We have our eyes on this Balmain logo sweatshirt and these gingham Manolo Hangisis.

Sale to Watch: Saks Christmas Markdown

Holiday cheer can be felt and heard throughout the city. Lights are twinkling, chestnuts are roasting, bells are ringing. Most department stores have entered the area of extreme markdowns. Saks Fifth Avenue has remained a serious holdout– but not for long.

    ????@rachmartino

Shoes and bags were only reduced by 30% to 40% off (until now). The bright spot is that there is still a tremendous amount of inventory among these most coveted categories. During our trip this week, we found a huge assortment of Balenciaga, Chloe, and Saint Laurent. You can see pictures here. Many of these items are still available online too.

Let’s hope that you still have shopping funds left because Saks just sent out a VIP link for its Christmas Day sale. We’ve been keeping a special eye out on this Balenciaga plaid Bolide-shape bag, that’s now $1072 from $3000 and the small one is $971. This  BB crossbody is $682 from $1950. A Fendi By The Way bag  is $1100 from $2200 and this Off-White tote is $468 from $1338.

Over in the shoe department, there is still a very large assortment of Chanel, which will go very fast once the next markdown takes effect. You can click here to see pictures of what’s still available.

Online, these Manolo Hangisi heels can be added to our addiction pile at $376 from $1045. The stacks are also filled with plenty of Alaia Bombe sandals that are a consideration at $504 from $1400. These studded Valentino suede boots have been a hot seller all season and there is a full-size range available for $1000 less than retail or $753. Don’t miss these classic Rockstuds for $450 or the heel on these Saint Laurent Teddy pumps for $375.

The Christmas sale should take the discount on clothing over 70%. There are still racks and rack and racks from which to choose. We have some pictures over this way. Grab this Prada lipstick skirt. It;s just $306 from $1010. This Cinq å Sept fox trim leather jacket  is a real get if it’s under $500.

This is the VIP link, which means the sale hasn’t gone public. Once it does, all this good stuff will disappear fast. We warn you to shop with a focused eye and revel in the joy of saving.

    Happy Holiday!!!
