We simply can’t resist shopping for a good cause like the Jewish Community Project downtown. This year’s sale is better than the previous and is poised to please even the most discriminating designer shoppers.
Clothing racks are filled with gently used Lanvin, Comme de Garcons, Marni, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana among other high-end designers. There are also a number of designer dresses that are brand new and still have their original tags. We found brand brand new Zac Posen dresses for $450, Yves Saint Laurent separates and dresses from $200 to $800 and lovely new Valentino pieces. A black leather three-quarter length Jil Sander jacket is $895, while Moncler red label jackets are $250 to $795. A unique Marni reversible leather and Mongolian lamb mink hooded vest is just $795.
After sorting through the clothing racks we set our focus on shoes and accessories. Ladies with small feet will fare best since there is a wall full of designer shoes size 5 to 6.5, some of which are new or barely worn. New Manolos will set you back $165 while $285 Celine sandals and Christian Louboutins are among higher priced designers. There are some Jimmy Choos and YSL shoes to be found, but we are told that there is going to be a large shipment of Jimmy Choo and Dior shoes in size 38 to 39 in the next couple of days.
If pre-broken in shoes aren’t your thing, there is a good selection of brand new designer shoes from Edon Manor. New in box Alaia and Giambattista Valli leather flats are $357 while Nina Ricci boots are $375, and there are some Balenciaga and Loeffer Randal sandals too.
We weren’t stunned by the handbag selection even though we did crush on the $375 neon pink Marc Jacobs Stam bag. A small green square Goyard is $475 while a new Stella McCartney purse –sadly, not the Falabella– is $550. There were a couple vintage Louis Vuitton bags, but not the most desirable styles. We were most tempted by the new $650 Alaia belt.
We are told that a shipment of vintage classic Chanel flap bags is coming at the end of this week or beginning of next. Prices are said to range anywhere from $1000 to $1500. There may also be some Hermes Birkens and Kelly’s coming in at some point as well.
To spare yourself the ride downtown, feel free to email popshop@jcpdowntown.org for specific item queries. With a credit card number they will hold your item over the phone until you can get to the shop. If you are having trouble finding your size at the store, ask for Mali or Jenna since they may have more items and sizes in the basement.
