Every season requires a new shoe trend. After all, if there weren’t a new shoe, there would be nothing for us to buy. For Spring, we are going crazy for the classic slingback. You know, those pointy toe shoes with an open heel.
This season, the most fashionable variety features a low or kitten heel and a pointed toe. The trend started when Dior’s slingbacks hit the Spring 2017 runway. Their ladylike pointed toes and contemporary “J’ADIOR”-branded ribbons made them a huge hit among the fashion set. The $895 slingbacks have become a staple of the fashion house and haven’t officially been put on sale. We scored a pair from this eBay seller for about $700.
Another seasonal highlight is the Prada slingback for $750. We might like them even better than the Dior for it’s utilitarian feel. The two-tone combination is a perfect way to slide into spring. We are hoping to snag a pair during the first markdown but we are worried because sizes are already selling out.
Manolo Blahnik ($755) always offers a classic slingback. The best part is that they are comfortable to wear for 10 to 15 hours. You can’t say that about most other shoes. Nicholas Kirkwood ($795) is another designer that offers a notoriously comfortable slingback option. We would be remiss to omit Louboutin ($795), which is always a classic beauty.
If you’re looking for a higher heel, Saint Laurent ($645) is your answer. We especially love the white. Vetements offers a version that is architecturally beautiful but very pricey at $1150. The Loewe slingback ($890) features an ‘egg’ built into the heel and Aquazzura has a jeweled style for $895.
As you can see, there is no shortage of slingbacks from which to choose. Actually, choosing just one will prove to be the harder undertaking.
