Ten years ago, on May 3rd to be exact, I put my two baby daughters to sleep and sat down at my computer. I had an idea.
The internet was filled with all sorts of information but there wasn’t anywhere to reference luxury shopping. There was no way to find out about private sales, presales, promotions, and shopping incentives. Trying to locate the moment’s hottest sold-out item took a dozen calls. And let’s face it, not every sample sale is great.
Madison Avenue Spy was born. That first Madison Avenue Spy post is right here and still remains the cornerstone of our mission statement.
Anyone out there? Of course not! I have a long history of speaking without anyone listening. I guess this is nothing new.
Well, let’s get down to it. I am a frequent reader of shopping and accessory blogs but am so tired of reading about sample sales. This is NOT a sample sale blog. I really want to know where to get the best bang from my buck but I really value the ability to take an item home, try it on and continue from there. So what I plan is to do my thing — shop– and report back to you what’s going on. Krizia shoes for $50. Check. Prada 60% off. Check. Saks friends and family. Check.

Today, the biggest difference is that we all know I am not talking to myself. (I also now have three daughters who are pirouetting their way into teens.)
