Second markdown occurred at Saks Fifth Avenue more than two weeks ago and a third and final markdown isn’t far away. If you’re wondering what items are still available we have all the answers and lots of pictures too.
Before we dive into what’s on sale, we should point out that Saks is running a circus theme beauty incentive. When you spend more than $175 on fragrance or beauty products you receive a red and white clutch filled with lots of premium products. On top of that, many brands are offering brand specific incentives. So this would be a great time to stock up on cosmetics before you head out on holiday.
Targeting handbag markdowns, we headed behind the elevators on the main floor to find lots of Valentino, Lanvin, McQueen, and Stella discounted 50%. You can see pictures of sale bounty right here. Most notable were the Dee Ocleppo (Hilfiger) bags. The fringe on the rattan styles are increasingly growing on us. The idea of not having an easily identifiable bag is also growing more attractive. Another markdown would make it even more attractive.
Heading upstairs to designer clothing, there is a little bit of something for everyone. The discount is a steady 60% off and traffic is dying down as customers wait for the final cut. Some unique standouts are a Sacai trench with lace sleeves (very practical) that’s reduced to $1600 from $4000. There are also lots of Christopher Kane’s patchwork items including sweaters and jeans. The dress version is still available online here for $252 from over $630. Among the evening wear there is a large assortment of Carolina Herrara. None of the good stuff is online but we have pictures here.
The eighth floor of Saks is more like a canyon of shoes. All of the Chanel shoes are 30% off. (Chanel boutiques are 40%.) Louboutin were reduced to 40% on Friday and there is still a great assortment. Clique for piques. Dior has an entire table of discounted shoes. There are also lots of Aquazurra shoes, which were a hot item this season.
Overall, we wouldn’t say there were many surprises at Saks but there is considerably more in the store than what you will find online. As a matter of fact. It’s about prime time that Saks gives its website an update. The styling is off, the sorting options are horrible and it’s just looking old. Every girl needs a little refresher at some point. Best not to neglect your online presence.
