    Buccellati Sale

    By ManhattanMataHari

While exhibiting at Madrid’s 1920 Exposition, it is said that Mario Buccellati hurled an expensive compact out a window when a woman asked for a discount, shouting, “I am not a tradesman!” We wonder how Mario would feel about this week's Buccellati sale being hosted by Soiffer Haskin at the jeweler's 57th Street boutique.

Generations of jewelry shoppers love Buccellati for their detailing and one-of-a-kind pieces. The company only produces about 3,000 pieces of jewelry per year, about 500 of which are one-of-a-kind pieces. As a fan we couldn't resist scounting the discounts, which are up to 50% off retail.

The sale started today and we couldn't resist taking a look. The handcrafted fine jewels and watches are all 40% off retail and silver servingware and home accents are 50% off. Despite the lofty prices, fans of the jeweler can appreciate how seldom this brand goes on sale. Even resale prices hold up wonderfully.

We found a sizable selection of jewelry, brooches, cuff links and jeweled watches. The pricing varies based upon the metal, but the majority of the sale jewelry is 18K yellow or white gold. There are a wide range of prices. We spotted a brooch retailing for $2500 and a lovely woven yellow gold necklace for $16,000 retail.

Shoppers will also find a wide selection of Buccellati's signature flower blossom necklaces. A version in sterling silver ranges from $1200 to $1900 and is significantly more affordable after the 40% markdown. If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind watch, we suggest checking out this sale before it ends on Friday. There are a number of lively colored crocodile strap watches with intricate faces. Prices start around $16,000 and go up to $80,000 for an engraved white gold pocket-watches.

Upstairs, you'll find finely crafted silver for the home. There are a variety of silver trays starting at $10,995. A large Torchon silver tray retails for $44,200. In addition, a selection of silver candlesticks ranges from $16,500 to $31,000 for singles and pairs.

    Obaibi Summer Sale

There is no denying that shopping can be an addiction but shopping for a tot can cause you to really lose control. There’s something about miniature sized anything that is completely irresistible.

One Madison Avenue store that fuels our shopping obsession is
Obaibi. The fashion forward French children’s store specializes in clothing for babies and toddlers from newborn to five-years-old. What’s even better is that the boutique is having a super sale where their summer collection is discounted up to 50% off.

An adorable embroidered dress is $21 from $35 and a coordinating three-button cardigan is $14 from $28. A little boy’s zipped hoodie is $15.75 from $31.50 and the coordinating polo shirt is $13.50 from $22.50. See-- affordable and adorable!

Those with tots who aren’t so mini, can shop the big kid’s store
Okaidi, which specializes in sizes 3 to 14-years. The collection is available online but if you’re feeling more ambitious you can scope out one of the four US Okaidi stores. Click here to find the location closest to you.

    Valentino on Sale

We are still making our way through the best sales on Madison Avenue. Today we stopped at Valentino to check out the markdown and selection.

The discount is a straight 40% off across all spring merchandise. That includes shoes and handbags too. If you're looking to be a step ahead of the trend, go for the studded ballet flats. These classic style shoes can easily be worn into fall and are $297 from $495. As for bags, we especially like this studded style, which is $1100 from $1845.

When it comes to clothing, we prefer to stay away from anything too trendy. Valentino always has the most beautifully detailed clothing. Take this white ruffled cocktail dress that's $1314 from $2190. It's perfect for a luncheon or an evening party.

Unfortunately, our favorite Valentino item is not being sold in the boutiques. A nude color ballet flat is perfect for a spring day and is so light that it feels as if you're walking barefoot. Right now, this shoe is 30% off at Chuckies and but we are going to wait for a second markdown before taking the plunge.

    Massimo Dutti Comes to NYC

Zara's parent company, Inditex, will be opening the first Massimo Dutti concept store, in New York, later this year. We are told the new store will be taking the Zara location at Fifth Avenue and 54th Street.

Massimo Dutti is known for their high quality products and custom tailoring. Although the price point is considerably higher than Zara, it's still very reasonably priced. For example, a custom suit is about 450-euros, which is about $640. A men's shirt ranges in price from 50-to 60-euros ($71 to $85) and a woman's dress is about 99-euros or $141.

Fans of Masimo Dutti say to be on the look out for their leather jackets, bags and jeans. We even hear the store has a mega end-of-season sale where discounts range from 50% to 70% off. We think this is a store we can like, no, love.

Addicts of the the Fifth Avenue Zara should not shed any tears because it will be relocating a few blocks south at Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street. For now, you can look foward to Zara's spring sale, which will begin later this week....

Last Minute Father’s Days Gifts on Madison

    By: ManhattanMataHari

For those of us procrastinators, it can be quite stressful figuring out what gifts to give. This year, why not give dear old dad something different – does he really need another animal print Hermes tie? We searched Madison Avenue boutiques and found some special shops where you can purchase your Father’s day gift on sale, naturally! We do suggest checking on their sales item return policy - just in case
    .
    Manrico Cashmere
Manrico Cashmere has marked down the majority of their menswear. Lightweight cashmere normally ranges from $540 to $700 is marked down anywhere from 30% to 50%. They also had some really nice cashmere peacoats. Even at 50% off a retail price of $3800 may still be expensive for a gift for dad.
    Brigitte: 212-794-4200

    Davide Cenci
The Davide Cenci boutique is known for their fine tailoring and collared shirts normally priced from $240 to $270. They are now 40% off. If you are pooling gift resources with your siblings, they have a great selection of unconstructed sports jackets as well racks of Loro Piana outerwear starting around $1400, included in the 40% markdown.
    Giorgio: 212-628-5911

    Giorgio’s of Palm Beach
A bit further downtown is the menswear staple Giorgio’s of Palm Beach. Don’t let the name fool you – they have plenty of custom Italian-made Manhattan-appropriate men’s couture. While no sales prices are posted they are more than willing to work within your budget. Through a bit of yapping, a cashmere sweater normally priced $795 was reduced to $495. Everyone seemed very willing to work on prices throughout the store, so why not stop by and try your luck?
    Valario: 212-319-3108

    Eredi Pisano
The Eredi Pisano boutique is encouraging last minute father’s day shopping with a weekend sale. Their collared shirts normally priced from $195 to $260 are 30% off. In addition, their seemingly endless selection of ties are marked down 40% off an origional price of $110 to $150. You will definitely be able to find a tie to suit your dad here, and at these prices you can get two for the price of one.
    Irelis: 212-418-9630

    Hickey Freeman
If you are looking for nice casual menswear at a more wallet-friendly price, we suggest popping over to Hickey Freeman. Nearly everything in the store is currently marked down 30%, and they have a large selection of items marked down 75% as well.

    Bleecker Street Sale Briefing

    By: TJ Kennedy
Sometimes getting out of your own neighborhood is enough of a scenary change to feel like a vacation. This week, we decieded to take a break from our Madison Avenue adventures and head down to browse the best of Bleecker Street.

We begin our West Village journey at the ever-edgy Zadig & Voltaire where almost every item in the store is 30% to 50% off. Cut out tees like the white skull piece Erin Wasson donned in the spring campaign, along with backless jersey tanks are 30% off. While this still leaves them going for around $100, these are the types of basics that are so much more than basic.

Denim jeans were 40% off a retail price of $250, while most spring dresses were 50% off and range in price from $500 to $600. Most of the leather bags with zipper detail were discounted 40%. Spring kids clothes fit for rock star babies are all marked down 30%.

We reported about the Mulberry presale but figured we would check out the official markdown. We found a plentiful assortment of merchandise, for now. The classic Tilly bag in a variety of spring colors and textures are 50% off, while most of the other bags are marked down 30% to 40%. Even year round, black leather goods are included in the sale. Wallets, key chains and jewelry are 30% off and the case was full of options. Be sure to grab an over sized pink beach bag while you're there-- at 50% off, it's a real steal.

Burberry has three racks full of sale items marked down 30%. There were several windbreaker style jackets down to $550 from $795 along with chunky sweaters and button ups. The few dresses were priced at $420 and spring jeans are at $179 from $250. Unfortunately, there is only one style brown leather jacket, one pair of buckled ankle boots and one over sized plaid bag offered on sale. But hey, the store next door has Burberry men's marked down and Father's Day is just around the corner.

The sale at Intermix ranges from 30 to 50% off. There were plenty of bright colored jeans and bohemian skirts along with nautical striped and crochet tops. Tanks that were $160 were down to $89 and most jeans ranged from $129 to $159.

Spring blazers in neutral colors were $300 to $400 depending on the designer. For those brave enough to don Herve Leger band aid dresses, there were a few styles discounted from $1,595 to $995.

Now if only they would hurry up and open the Jimmy Choo boutique on Bleeker! We've all been waiting patiently......

    Herve Leger Spring Markdowns

    By ManhattanMataHari

Many of us are familiar with Herve Leger’s signature bandage designs by the seemingly endless list of Hollywood starlets and Bat Mitzvah guests donning his form fitting dresses. While his high-end collection by Max Azria are normally priced at about $1300, we discovered that his Madison Avenue boutique is now having a 40% off sale.

This boutique has a wonderful range of colors and styles of dresses, skirts, tops, and bathing suits that are all marked down. While it can be difficult to find basic colors in department stores, there are a number of popular styles and colors on sale in the boutique, including black and beige as well as more spring and summer hues. There are also a handful of embellished evening gowns marked down 40% to 60%.

For a better selection of unique dresses you can browse the online store, although we suggest hitting up the boutique first.
