Neiman Marcus is best known for exclusive brands and lofty price tags. Today, the tony retailer opened a new concept of off-price stores in called Last Call Studio, which is located in Paramus, NJ.
Unlike Neiman Marcus clearance centers, the Studio sells clothes, shoes and accessories that have never passed through a Neiman Marcus or Bergdorf Goodman, for that matter. All of the the Studio’s inventory is purchased specifically for this off-price boutique. Many of the brands are mid-priced and appeal to a wide range of suburbanites.
Last Call Studio closely resembles a Nordstrom Rack or a Saks Off Fifth. Brands include, Joie, Lafayette 148 and 7 For All Mankind. On a preview of the store, we found DVF wrap dresses for $179, which is very good considering that wrap dresses are $250 at the DVF sample sale. There was also a great selection of jeans, including Joe’s which were $99 from $158. There was also a big selection of James Perse. Tees were $59 from $95.
In addition to women’s clothing there is a nice assortment for men and children. The biggest draw, however, will be the shoes and bags. Handbag brands include, Michael Kors and Marc by Marc Jacob. Shoes brands ranged from Cole Hann to Charles Jordan, which are now produced in China! (That was a surprise.)
Overall, we know the concept will be a popular destination for great value basics but we did miss the excitement of the brands that have made Neiman Marcus famous.
