It’s been a very long time since we’ve posted a sale season cheat sheet. It’s easy enough to say that the world is back and shopping has returned to normal. But has it? My feeling is, not at all.
This is probably the dullest fashion season in MadSpy history. Inventories are low and trends are becoming stale. It’s worth noting that sale season is definitely a few weeks behind the normal pre-covid schedule. Maybe retailers are really keeping their promise to promote fashion in the season.
You will also notice that stores are holding back discounts on the most elevated fashion brands. Early this week, we saw retailers coordinated markdowns of YSL and Valentino.
Below is a comparison chart of Bergdorf Goodman, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Take note, Bergdorf Goodman is offering an extra 15% off lots of sale items. We are still waiting for discounts from Dior, Fendi, Prada, Celine, and Balenciaga.
We anticipate those sales to start this week, which will keep us very busy. We just noticed that The Row has been added to markdowns at Saks. Most items are about 30% off.
Jimmy Choo fans can rejoice as the boutique’s online site is hosting a private sale that is only accessible through this VIP activation link. The discounts are 40% off and there are some really great iconic styles available. The sale opens to the public on June 16. You can see the full post and our favorite sale items here.
Valentino hit sale racks on Thursday. Discounts range from 25% off to over 50%. You can see the best places to shop for your favorite Valentino items here.
You can check on Neiman Marcus markdowns here, The discounts aren’t as substantial as Bergdorf Goodman but you will find a larger selection and more size assortments.
It’s also worth pointing out that Saks Off Fifth is hosting friends and family sale where lots of merchandise is an additional 20% off. You can use the code FANDF to engage the additional savings. Be sure to check out the Prada selection and Missoni items.
Stay tuned. Until next time… same time, same place?
