    SAMPLE SALES ???????????? for April

    Spring is in the air and we couldn’t be more excited to start planning for the warmer weather. New sandals, lightweight dresses and lots of rosé, of course. We aren’t quite ready to start pulling out the bikinis but long weekends will be here before you know it.

    We’ve exclusively listed only the sample sales that would personally consider attending. The post will continue to be updated throughout the month and remain just a click away in the right sidebar. Below is a list of what we believe to be April’s best sample sales. Feel free to leave feedback in the comments section so that everyone can benefit from the ‘Spy’ network.

    Loro Piana Sample Sale
    At the last sale, in the Fall all merchandise was reduced from 40% to 60% off. The sticker prices as this sale tend to be a bit pricey but cashmere fans can’t resist. On the bright side, the crowds are thin but the inventory is always plentiful.

    Bandier Sample Sale
    At the last sale, activewear ranged in price from $19 to $99, sports bras were $19 or $39 and Nike sneakers were discounted 60%. Prices may be different because this is the first time the sale is hosted at this venue. We will be sure to keep you updated with any changes.

    Eddie Borgo Sample Sale
    Expect to find handbags and fashion jewelry priced up to 70% off. A brass collar will be $65 from $295, a thick brass bracelet will be $65 from $275 and a shoulder bag with brass hardware will be $200 from $640.

    Hanro Showroom Sample Sale
    Discounts are said to be up to 75% off. At a previous sale we found camisoles for $30, loungewear ranged from $35 to $100 and sleepwear was priced from $50 to $80. We suggest you attend this sale when it starts because there aren’t replenishments or price reductions.

    Marc Jacobs Sample Sale
    At the last sale Marc Jacobs clothing, all coats were $250, dresses were $100, blouses were $50 and tees were $20. Dresses from the Marc by Marc Jacobs line were $60 and tees were $10.

    Oscar de la Renta
    At last year’s sale the bridal gowns from size 2 to 10 were the biggest hit with shoppers and ranged in price from $1300 to $4000. Gowns were either $800 or $1500 depending on the intricacy. Most of the ready-to-wear was about 70% off retail. Handbags were about $600 and shoes started at just $60.

    Manolo Sale Sample Sale
    We expect that prices will run along the same lines as last season. Plain shoes, including leather, suede satin, and printed fabric start at $125 and go up to $150. Shoes with embellishments like glitter and studs were priced $175. Boots started at $200 for basic versions and went up to $400 for over-the-knee styles.

    David Yurman Sample Sale
    Shoppers waited more than an hour before gaining entrance. Inside, shoppers found cable bracelets reduced 30% off and other bracelets styles were discounted 50%. Rings and necklaces were 50% off and watches and pendants were reduced by 60%.

    Ippolita Sample Sale
    Just in time for Mother’s Day, expect to find most items discounted 65% off retail and a few, less desirable pieces, reduced 75% to 90% off. Last season, there was a markdown after the first day and then another reduction for the last day. We suggest waiting for the last day of the sale unless you’re looking for a particular item.

    This week is turning out to be very friendly. We’ve already detailed the friends and family goings on at Bloomingdales and DVF but there are lots of other sales to shop with friends.

    Theory, Milly, Helmut Lang, Alice & Olivia and Bobbi Brown are all hosting friends and family sales this weekend. Details for each brand are below:

    Alice & Olivia
    Starting today you can save 25% off everything from Alice & Olivia— including sale items. The discount is applied at checkout and no code is necessary. Check out with this leather cropped moto jacket, a rainbow tiered gown and embroidered bell bottoms. The sale ends Sunday, April 2.

    Theory

    You can save 20% off when you shop Bobbi Brown’s friends and family sale online. N The sale starts on Sunday, April 2 and runs through Saturday, April 8th. No code is necessary. Some of the most popular products are the long-wear gel eyeliner, Foundation Stick and the Luxe Lip Color in mauve.     DVF Friends & Family Sale

    Diane von Furstenberg’s friends & family sale is here. You can save 25% off almost all items by using the code “FRIENDS25”.

    The promotion runs online and in stores through Monday, April 3. This season, sale merchandise isn’t included in the promotion. It appears as if this sale is becoming increasingly unfriendly to sale shoppers. ????

    DVF has had difficult times the past few seasons and this include these white pants with colorful ribbon trim, a multi-print wrap top and a flattering fitted dress. If you’re the type that values sample sale prices over the newest styles, we suggest you use the discount opportunity on sale merchandise.

    Bloomingdales Friends & Family Presale

    Pre-sale for the upcoming Bloomingdales friends and family has started. The sale officially begins Friday –March 31– but those in the know can start pre-saling their purchases in the store now. The discount is 25% off fashion and home and 20% off jewelry. Online shoppers will be able to use the code FRIENDS once the sale goes live, next week.

    In the past, the exclusions haven’t been too extensive. Designer collections, beauty and fragrance are never included in the promotion. Although the discount can’t be applied to beauty purchases there is usually a gift with purchase incentive.

    Bloomingdales can be frustrating to shop. There is never anyone at a register when you need to get out fast. We have really started to love the option of shopping online and using in-store pickup. On product pages you can sort according to “In-Store Pickup” and all your purchases will be pulled and waiting for you at the customer service department on the 3rd floor. Once you get there, you can try everything on and just take the items you like. This service has become so popular that the Lexington Avenue store has extended pickup hours from 6am to midnight.

    The friends and family promotion runs through Sunday, April 9 and the discount can also be applied to sale items. This classic Theory dress will come to $370 from $1200, a leather jacket from Maje will also be about $370 from $945 and a very pretty mixed media lace blouse from Elie Tahari is $325 from $620.

    We can’t complain too much about the weather this past Winter but we are very excited that it’s officially Spring. Warm weather, open-toe shoes and getting rid of a heavy overcoat is all we need to be happy. (Well, almost.)

    Sell:

    Presale: Saks Friends & Family Sale

    The Saks Fifth Avenue friends and family sale doesn’t start for about a week but all good customers know that the best merchandise is snatched up during the presale period. The sale officially runs from Wednesday, March 21 through Sunday, April 2.

    This season, the discount will be 25% off a selection of clothing, shoes and accessories. Jewelry will be discounted 20%. Instead of listing hundreds of designer exclusions and creating a special code, Saks essentially created a friends and family sale section on the website.

    Some of the designer-y brands we expect to be included are Edie Parker, Les Petits Joueurs, Nancy Gonzalez and Anya Hindmarc. Among the shoes, we suggest going for Charlotte Olympia, Chiara Ferragni or something quirky from Alice & Olivia.

    It’s much harder to speculate about what designer fashions might be included in the sale. It’s safe to suspect that most contemporary brands will be participating. We are hoping that some of the new emerging street wear brands, like Off-White, will be included in the promotion.

    If you’re a point collector, you should take note that designers not included in the sale will be eligible for triple points. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the friends and family inclusions are plentiful. For now, stay tuned for this evolving story.

    Tibi’s Online Sample Sale

    Happy first day of Spring!

    What better way to tick off the new season than to take advantage of sample sale that doesn’t require you to move an inch. Tibi is hosting its first online sample sale where prices are discounted up to 80% off.

    Some of our favorite items include an Italian shearling aviator jacket that’s reduced to $1128 from $2800, wide legged leather pants are $239 from almost $1200 and a Pantone green knit sweatshirtt is $98 from $400.

    More suited for Spring, is this off-the-shoulder blouse that’s $100 from $345. There is also a pair of smoking slippers from Tibi’s collaboration with Del Toro that’s $200 from $365.

    This sale is for only a few days and ends Thursday at midnight. We are a little disappointed there aren’t more of Tibi’s signature dresses but at least there aren’t any traditional sample sale lines.
