Weekend Shopping: NAP, Intermix & The Outnet

After a sweltering hot week, the forecast is showing lots of rain. That’s bad news for beach lovers but it also means you can shop without FOMO. This weekend, there are several wonderful sales. We are looking at discounts that are topping 85% off retail, which is major. Below are three of our favorite sales of the weekend.

Happy shopping and we’ll keep our fingers crossed that Janice Huff is wrong and the sun will come out tomorrow…

    Intermix
I don’t think many people realize how amazing this season’s collection was at Intermix. There were so many pieces we’ve been tracking and now is the opportunity to pounce. We especially love the items from designers that aren’t overly distributed. Right now, the discounts are topping 75% off. We’ve been like a hawk-eyeing this Maticevski top that’s now just $190 from $1220 and this ‘latte’ dress looks even better on the body than in the pictures. A Cinq a Sept dress is about $70 from nearly $400. There are several pairs of Frame jeans that come out to $60 or less. This pair is just $35!!! Take note, all sales are final but you can’t blame them when the discounts are this low.

    TheOutnet
The discount site, TheOutnet is hosting a clearance sale and the discounts are up to 85% off. Here is a Maison Margiela maxi dress/gown for only $350 from over $2300 and leather sandals for $200 from $1045. Steela McCartney sunglasses are $100 from $400 and a  one-shoulder jumpsuit is $326 from $1630. Trolling the site is definitely worth the time.

    Net-A-Porter
The Summer sale at Net-a-Porter is about to wrap up and you’re not going to do any better then the extra 20% off. If you can’t find a particular item, we suggest you flip through the international sites. The UK site has discounts of 70% off. There are also lots of items that aren’t (or were  never) available in the US.

    Nordstrom Anniversary Presale

Nordstrom is known for having great sales. There are two in particular that can send a city girl shopping in the burbs: The “Half-Yearly Sale” and the “Anniversary Sale.” The Half-Yearly sale is clearance, usually towards the end of the season. (Like, now.) The Anniversary Sale is a presale before the new collection hits the department store floor.

Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale starts today. The sale consists of a catalog of pre-Fall merchandise that is discounted 25% to 40% off. Each department has its own special items that are featured in the pre-Fall sale. You can sift through the catalog right here.

The presale runs from July 12th to July 21st but is limited to customers who have a Nordstrom credit card holders. Afterwards, on July 21, the sale opens to the general public. Prices return to normal once the sale ends in August.

Back-to-school items are especially attractive during this Nordies sale. For example, you know your kids want new Adidas sneakers for the start of school and they are right here for $40 from $54. Big kid Stan Smiths are $80 from $110. (There is really no reason not to get them!) Over here are Converse with ruffles that are a-door-able. We love this rose gold bomber jacket for back-toschool and it’s just  $45 from $68. There is also a large amount of swimwear in case you need to do a mid-season refresh. We even spotted Bugaboo Cameleon that’s discounted nearly $400.

We are a bit choosier when picking pre-season items for ourselves but a classic Veronica Beard jacket with a removable sweatshirt lining is $500 from $750. We really like this oversized wool and mohair jacket that’s  $600 from $900 and there is an really amazing selection of activewear with great discounts. We even found a S’well for $15.

The selection this season is the best we can remember. It seems as if designers are realizing that pre-gaming sale season is better than post-season markdowns. Don’t forget to also check out the beauty deals. We are always a sucker for a new shade of lipstick or an updated nail polish

It’s a novel idea to have the opportunity to buy new season merchandise at a significant savings. Identifying what you want for Fall can be difficult but surely worth the effort. Sometimes it pays to plan ahead.

    Berdorf’s Discounts Hit 80% Off

We highly suggest that you immediately Uber or click over to Bergdorf Goodman where you can now save an extra 20% off of Summer merchandise. Discounts on clothing already topped 75% and the additional promotion brings the final savings to 80%. As a matter of fact, the prices at our violet home-away-from-home are more reduced than, even, Neiman Marcus.

There is some serious fashion available at incredible prices. Here is a Delpozo 3-D blouse that comes to $184 from $920, a Veronica Beard mini-skirt is $80 from nearly $400,   a Valentino pajama top is about $600 from almost $2000 and a Caroline Constas top is only $100 from $385.

The discount on shoes and handbags are unchanged at 50% off but the extra 20% makes a big difference. This clutch from The Row is adorable and comes to $400, this Anya tote is $1400 from $3500 and Miu Miu shoes with ankle wraps are only $260 from $650. This is kind of random but we really like these black and gold New Balance sneakers that come to $90 from $225.

This will be the last markdown of the season at Bergdorfs. The best part is that sale merchandise is returnable. Not all stores– ahem, SAKS– is offering the same low prices and top service.

    Farfetch Offers Extra 20% Off

The sale selections at our local haunts are getting pretty dismal but overseas stores are much better stocked and the discounts are close to rock bottom. For example, Farfetch started a promotion were sale merchandise is discounted an extra 20%. Use the code x20july17 to activate the extra markdown.

Some of the sale’s highlights include items that are reduced close to 75% off. Take a look at these Chloe sandals that come to about $225 from nearly $1000, a Lanvin front-tie blouse that’s $450 from $1845 and this Christian Soriano tulip print dress is about $300 from nearly $1500. The extra discount promotion also includes an assortment for men and children.

This promotion runs through Saturday, July 15. We suggest you take advantage of this extra discount while it lasts. Farfetch isn’t like J. Crew– where this is a big discount promotion every week.

Manolo Begins 2nd Markdown 60% Off

The streets are steaming hot. What to do when you need to get out of your over air-conidtioned environment? Head over to Manolo Blahnik boutique’s second markdown. The sale started today and we’ve been told that the inventory is running practically at full stock.

This most recent markdown, follows the 40% discount but proceeds the final and best shopping opportunity of the season. The final markdown is always one of our favorite sales and will likely take place at the end of the month. Prices range from $195 to $350. Most shoes and low boots– even highly ornate styles– are priced at $250.

Expect to find a full assortment of shoes from the summer collection. Personally, we are waiting to make our major purchases. After all, everyone is out of the city. You can click here to see the reports from past final markdowns or slide through the pics to see what similar discounts can be found online.

Barneys Last Markdown: Extra 20% Off

This weekend, Barneys started the mother-of-all-sales by offering additional discounts of 20% off merchandise that has already been reduced by 75%. The sale promoption applies to all sale items.

We strongly suggest you start your shopping in the shoe department, where a large assortment of shoes are already discounted 60%. The additional savings brings to total markdown to nearly 70% off. The online selection isn’t nearly as good as what you can find in stores but there are a few key pieces still available.

It’s pretty slim pickings if you’re shopping online for clothing too. Here is a Calvin Klein tunic that’s about $200 from $1000 and this pretty smocked skirt is about $100 from $600. The selection is mainly comprised of hard-to-sell skirts and pants. Again, we are sure you can find more interesting items in the store.

This type of extreme markdowning, goes to show that even the least likable fashion can be sold at the right price. Next stop… Barneys online Warehouse.

    StyleBop Discounts Hit 75% Off

Shopbop is offering a deal that might be hard to refuse. Right now, a selection of spring and summer merchandise is already discounted 70% off but through the weekend you can save an extra 15%.

We were actually very surprised about how how many great items we found. Check out this Victoria Beckham cross-body bag that’s currently about $300 from nearly $1000. With the extra discount the cute summer accessory comes to just $260. These Malone Souliers leather mules area gorgeous and are currently priced at $200 from $700, an Alexander Wang skirt with cut-outs is $158 from $520 and this jumpsuit from McQ Alexander McQueen is $215 from $719. We also spotted this sleeveless Alexander Wang blazer that is very on trend for Fall.

The extra discount promotion extends beyond the most discounted sale merchandise and can be applied to almost all reduced items. (We just like to target the best deals, of course.) This Sonia Rykiel dress is adorable and already marked down 50% and this Missoni jumpsuit is Mykonos-ready.

As far as sales go, StyleBop’s selection seems to be pretty on point. There is even an assortment of sizes still available. Seems like a good opportunity to pick up something extra nice before your big August vacation.

The IT-it: Straw Bags & Accessories

We didn’t see the straw bag trend coming until it already happened. It seems as if there are  straw, wicker, raffia and rattan bags almost everywhere you look. The thing is, we still can’t get enough.

We especially love that the basket weave can be found in almost any price point. Nordstrom, especially, has lots of styles from which to choose. Check out this Milly straw clutch with raffia pom-poms that’s just $195, this wood frame version is really a no-brainer for just $58 or here is a tote with pom-poms for only $48. It’s the perfect size for a towel and sunscreen.
On the higher priced– designer side– of the spectrum we are smitten with the Fendi straw Baguette ($2600) or this intricately woven straw and python Pickaboo bag ($6100). We especially love this Eric Javits straw tote ($400). It’s clean, minimalistic but not too fragile.

Sure, the bags have taken the spotlight with this trend but there are also lots of other items sneaking in a basket weave. We love these straw woven sandals for only $70, a wrinkle combatting fedora ($18) works wonders for your skin and here are fiesta-ready earrings from Kate Spade ($88).

Don’t forget, Nordstrom is hosting their amazing Anniversary Sale, where oodles of designer fashions are heavily discounted. Online shoppers should take advantage of Nordstrom’s great customer service, which features free shipping and free returns.
