Nearly everything that will be on sale has already hit the markdown racks. The only holdout, until now, is Dior. Starting Thursday, most of our area stores will have reductions of 40% off on various Dior items. Dior boutiques are providing discounts of 50% off.
Most of the Dior sale selection is limited to shoes, some clothing and a scattering of miscellaneous accessories. Licensed departments (like the handbag departments in Bergdorfs, Bloomingdales, and Saks) don’t have any sale merchandise.
In anticipation of the big markdown, we headed to various stores to see exactly what will be included in the markdown. You can click here to see pictures. Some standout items include colorful canvas sneakers that will come to about $600 from $1000, toile print slingback pumps that come to about $600 from $990, pool sides are $534 from $890, and espadrilles with ankle laces are $414 from $690. (We have pictures here.)
If you are able to make it to a Dior boutique you might even be able to save more. A scattering of hoes clothing and accessories are reduced by 50%. Be sure not to miss the sunglasses because they are plentiful and — who can’t use an extra pair of sunglasses for summer. Pictures from inside the Soho boutique are a click away.
Another great resource for discounted Dior is Shop375. They have a variety of classic J’adore slingbacks, Diorama bags, and even great clothing items from the Dior x Kaws collaboration. Discounts range from 20% to 50% off retail — depending on the item. You can even use the code SHOP10 for an additiunal 10% off.
Department stores are a little skittish about releasing in the sale information on Dior. We have a few in-store sales associates you can contact. The Dior markdown officially starts on May 13.

Saks (Boca): Jay 561-537-9468
The hugely popular Shopbop sale event kicked off today for VIPs. Shoppers can use the code SCORE19 and save an additional 25% off all sale items. The total discount can get as high as 80% depending on the item.
The sale ends Friday at midnight (PT). This is the best deal you can expect, outside of Shopbop’s friends and family sale. If you ask us, it seems like a good opportunity to celebrate the end of the school year and the beginning of Summer.
Neiman Marcus hasn’t officially presented a second markdown but has been hosting lots of promotional discount incentives. Right now, you can click over and save an additional 25% off sale items. The best part is that there is still a diverse assortment if you take the time to dig.
Once you hit the shoe department the hunting becomes a little more complicated. Sizes are limited among the most reduced style shoes. Nearly every size of this Saint Laurent suede sandal is still available and it’s now $450 from $1000. There are also lots of size options in this Chloe scalloped flat that’s now 50% off. You have to check out the heel on this Manolo that’s $460 from $825 and this Manolo d’Orsay is just $273 from $935 but only one size is available.
You might notice some items are much less reduced than others. This scattered discount assortment will provide a prolonged sale season. Watch closely if an item hasn’t hit the discount to your satisfaction. Last Call will begin on June 27. Until then, there will a series of additional markdown promotions spanning up to an additional 33% off.
Sale season started very early this season. Most every other local department store has already taken a second cut on prices. Saks Fifth Avenue was the only neighborhood holdout, well, until this morning.
Discounts on clothing are a little scattered. Most items are 60% off. At the store, we found lots of Moncler jackets reduced 50% off. You can click here to see pictures. A Moschino tee is $177 from $200, a Versace silk cardigan is $700 from $1550 and an Off-White sweatshirt is $250 from $550.
You can click over this way to see pictures of everything (or most everything) we saw at the store. Last season, Saks hardly had a second markdown. We are not sure what to expect concerning third price cuts. It appears as if Saks would like to schedule its own agenda but the competition to final markdowns is just too much pressure.
Manolo Blahnik is breaking with tradition and starting its boutique sale several weeks early. The Manolo boutique sale will begin on Monday, June 10. We are told that the discount will be 33% off and the selection will be larger than ever before.
The Manolo Blahnik brand is hotter than its been for years but the sales racks are filled with a variety of classic and seasonal style shoes. We’ve never seen so many Hangisi Manolos on sale and some are even reduced to 60% off. We can only imagine that we can expect even more and better from the boutique.
In April, it was announced that Manolo’s U.S. partner George Malkemus would not be renewing his licensing agreement with the parent company after a 37-year relationship. We can only imagine the corporate shift is the root of the abundance of Blahnik sale merchandise. Manolo has since revealed plans to take over all stateside operations.
In a little over a year, Manolo has opened boutiques in Tokyo, Taiwan, Singapore, Geneva, Paris, a concept store in Selfridges and its first men’s store in London. Now, we won’t be surprised to see boutiques popping up all across the country. There is no question that there is a huge desire for men’s Manolos.
This is just the boutique’s first markdown. Usually, the second markdown comes pretty quickly. This is going to be a Manolo season you will want to watch closely. If you’re not already a MadSpy subscriber, you might want to sign up right now.

MatchesFashion took its second markdown today. Discounts now range from 30% to 60% off. We dove into the sale section assuming we wouldn’t find a generous assortment but we were very surprised.
In some instances, the discount assortment matches and exceeds the markdowns at our very own neighborhood haunts. Over here we found shoes from The Row discounted 50%. They are reduced by 40% at most stores. Here is a Saint Laurent bandana print bag marked down 50%. We haven’t seen YSL reduced more than 40% anywhere else. Here is our friendly Fendi-Fila print bucket bag that’s 40% off, which is the same as most other locations if you can still find it.
It’s refreshing to see such a wide assortment of good options still available, It also doesn’t seem like the site is crashing with wild shoppers. We suggest you take some time on Friday to put together MatchesFashion edit of your own. Just remember, no girl has everything!
Barneys just started its second markdown this morning. Some bags and shoes are discounted by 50% and some clothing is reduced by 60%. We were initially very excited for this markdown but despite a few exceptions, it’s a bit of a tease. After touring the store and online, it appears as if most items didn’t really get the second markdown treatment.
Some of our favorite items include this Balenciaga tee that’s $230 from $450. Remember when Triple S sneakers were selling for twice their retail price? Now they are 40% off. This Givenchy baseball cap is 60% off and these Gucci slides are 40% off. We have lots of pictures of bags and shoes.
Bergdorf Goodman officially took it’s the second markdown online. The new discounts will be available at stores starting Thursday. Many handbags are now 50% off and lots of clothing and shoes are now discounted by 60%. We expected that Dior, Celine, and Cuccinelli would also hit the markdown racks but we are told those markdowns will begin June 13.
We suggest you first use our early access link to the Bergdorf sale online right now and purchase whatever you like. There still seems to be a lot of great options. If you don’t see what you like available, check out our pictures. We captured a lot of what’s available.
The bag selection isn’t much better than what you will find online. Some online standouts include this little Sacai raffia bag that’s $325 from $650, this Balmain tote is now that will be $675 from $1350, and this mini Off-White mirrored pouch is $250 from $675.
