Gilt Bag Sale: Celine, Dior & Burberry

A few weeks ago, I fell upon a Gilt designer bag sale. The prices were great but I felt no urgency to make a commitment. The bag stuck around for a few days. I watched it. Then, in a moment– poof, it was gone. The said bag is full price at various stores and I whimper a little bit every time it catches my eye.

I share this tale as a warning because Gilt just started its early July 4th designer sale. The bag I wanted is still gone but there are many others that catch the eye. Most impressive is the selection of Celine bags, which includes many new Hedi styles. Most are reduced by about 30% off retail, which is only notable because Celine bags never go on markdown. Here is the “Lady Gaga” bag that’s $3200 from $4150, the Triomphe bag is $2845 from $3850, and this Double Strap belt is a good find at $299 from $570. There is also the more Old Celine classic Nano Luggage tote that’s $2300 from $2700.

Some of the other good finds include Tisci’s Burberry belt bag that’s about $1200 from $1500. (Not as discounted as I would like but savings nonetheless.) Check out this Dior C’est that’s $2600 from $3400 and this YSL Vicky is $1700 from $2300.  A Miu Miu shopper makes a great beach bag for $630 from $1020.

Department stores have so much Balenciaga on markdown that a final sale Gilt purchase is unnecessary.  Stay away unless you spot something ridiculously discounted. Don’t go for Valentino unless it’s more than 40% off and Prada needs to be reduced 50%. All bets are off you spot a bag that’s a brand new style or an item you’ve been lusting after and haven’t been able to capture.

For now, I’m going to continue to whine about the bag I missed and hope it turns up again. Wish me luck and learn from my mistake.

Weekend Shopping: The Best of Sale

Getting ready for some major July 4th sales? So are we! Pre-red, white, and blue shopping celebrations are going to be the theme of the next 10-days. Discounts approaching 80% off are not uncommon but finding sizes and the right product mix will be more challenging.

This weekend we suggest you check out Intermix. The site is hosting a private sale where discounted merchandise is discounted an additional 40% off, which brings the total savings to 75% off on many items. You need to use this link to access the added markdown. We also picked up a few Aviator Nation items from Bandier, which is hosting an additional 40% off sale.

Click below to see an edit of some of our favorite highly discounted items. Check back throughout the weekend because we will add more links as we spot them. Happy Weekend! ????

Bergdorf Goodman: Closer Look at 75% Off

Last week, we broke news about the upcoming final markdown at Bergdorf Goodman. With discounts hitting 75% off, it was hard to resist taking a closer look.  We are sure glad we did.

There aren’t very many discounted handbags left at the store. We shot some photos for those still curious. Online we spotted this Off-White tote that’s $570 from $1370 and here is a JW Anderson rainbow tote for $500 from $990. There’s not much else beyond that.

Among the shoes, there is a scattering of Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutins. Both have been reduced several times. Balenciaga BB booties are reduced to $516 from $1290, Givenchy sandals are $250 from $650, and Fendi logomania pumps are $395 from $990. We also spotted a few unicorns, um, Chanel shoes on the sale racks. A black perforated Chanel heel is $560 from $1125 and an aqua strappy heel is $980 from $1400. We can’t honestly say that we would take home either pair of Chanel shoes even if they were free. You can see pictures here.

Sizes are very patchy in the online shoe sale section. There is one size of these Hangisi patterned heels that are $400 from $1025. Who is a lucky size 8? Here are The Row’s Granpa slippers in black or grey for $270 from $670 and these Loeffler Randall espadrille platforms are actually adorable for $80.

We love a good handbag and shoe edit but you know where to find us when designer clothing hits 75% off. On the fourth floor, we spotted a Fendi logomania sweater for $372 from nearly $1500, a Prada skirt with ruffles is $300 from $1390, and a sleeveless Alaia dress is $1000 from $4k.

The online selection isn’t nearly as exciting but there are a few gems. Here is a Zimmerman floral print dress for $380 from $950, a Rosie Assoulin beaded blouse is $275 from $1100, a Jonathan Simkhai blouse is $123 from $500, and this Alexander Wang dress is $56 from $225.

After the holiday weekend, there will be an additional discount promotion. Taking the risk is a personal preference.

Inside: Neiman Marcus Last Call/ Final Markdown (Pics)

Neiman Marcus is the latest department stores to take their Summer merchandise to the third markdown. The discount at Neiman Marcus is officially up to 75% off.

In anticipation of this big price cut, we investigated the Neiman Marcus at Hudson Yards and the store in Paramus, New Jersey. The Hudson Yards store has the best handbag selection of any NYC department store. We found several classic style bags from Valentino, Loewe, and Balenciaga. You can see pictures over this way. The discount on most designer bags will be 60% off.

The online bag selection is still better than expected. We are keeping an eye out on this Loewe Gate bag and this Prada bag with fringes is $1078 from $2200. There is so many Balanciaga styles still available. This Balenciaga graffiti City bag is $1127 from $2300, and this ‘I Love Techno” bag is currently reduced to  $900 from $2290 and this crossbody is $583 from $1190.

The Hudson Yards store still has lots of Dior shoes. They are currently reduced 40% off but we couldn’t confirm that they would be an additional price cut. At Paramus, there is a large assortment of Louboutin shoes that are getting a second cut. Spiked suede shoes are $414 from $633, Silver Predu style heels are also $441 from $845 and denim spiked Follies are $525 from $1195. You can see pictures over this way.

Online shoppers should keep their eyes locked on these Manolo Susa style sandals, these Balenciaga pointed toe mules that are now just $225 from $750, and Saint Laurent sequined heels are $360 from $1200.  There are also lots of Aquazzura styles that are perfect for all types of Summer needs.

As we are browsing online we see the prices getting reduced. It might not be a bad idea to pull the trigger now. This is the final markdown for Neiman Marcus but there will be additional discount incentives in mid-July. We just don’t think there will be much left of anything that’s desirable.

    Inside: Saks Third Markdown (Pics)

It is hard to believe that it’s not even July and we are talking about third markdowns. Wednesday, Saks Fifth Avenue will take the limelight as it begins its next set of discounts.

Shoes will be 60% off and designer clothing will be discounted up to 75% off. The private sale link just went live online. You can click here to begin shopping the latest markdowns.

At the store, there aren’t many discounted handbags left over. We spotted a few Valentino bags reduced 60% off. You can click here to see what’s left. We are surprised that the online bag assortment is even better than at the store. This Balenciaga crossbody is $800 from $1600, a Fendi shopper is $1300 from $2600, and this Loewe Flamingo bag is a great item even at full price but is a find at 50% off.

The juicier assortment is in the shoe department. The new markdowns weren’t stickered yet but it’s not too hard to do that math. You can click here for pictures. There are several Gucci styles spread across the racks. We are still eyeing these Prada d’Orsay patent leather heels that we expect to be $332 from $830, Manolo mules with a square rhinestone buckle should be $454 from $680 and denim BB Manolos will be just $208.

Online we found these Manolo strappy sandals that we love for $330 from $835, Alexander Birman braided sandals are $258 from $400, and Balenciaga BB pumps are $380 from $950. These Laurence Decade denim booties might be worth holding on to until the Fall considering they are priced at $290 from $725.

The clothing options are a little bit more hit or miss. Here is a Fendi dress that’s $700 from $2900, an Etro Kimono is $540 from $1800, and this See by Chloe dress is $118 from almost $400. Take a jump here to see what we found at the store.

Remember, that this final markdown is Final Sale at Saks Fifth Avenue. The no returns, no exchanges policy flies in the face of department store customer service but it’s hard to blame them for not wanting boomerang merchandise.

Inside: Global Fashions Valentino Sample Sale

In the wake of canceled online orders, it’s refreshing to reality shop. What you pay for, is what you take home. Seems like a novel idea. I especially enjoyed the experience while previewing Global Fashions Valentino sample sale.

The sale begins on Tuesday morning. Inside you will find a large amount of Valentino clothing for men and women reduced 80% off. Shoes, bags, and accessories are discounted by 70%.

Some of the sale highlights include a metallic pink Valentino Rockstud Spike bag for $462 from $1545. Valentino pool slides are available in almost every size and in various colors for $210 from $695 and studded leather bracelets with turquoise stones and silver studs are $255 from $845. You can see lots of pictures in the jump.

It’s hard to peel yourself past the gorgeous shoes and accessories but I always love to lose myself in the fashion. The fabrics, design, and details can make any clothing lover swoon and at 80% off it becomes a justifiable purchase. A silk floral print blouse comes to $400 from $2000, a lace navy dress with a nude slip is $660 from $3290 and a runway floral print skirt is $340 from $3415. There is even a full packed rack of lust-worthy Valentino gowns. Take a look here.

This is one sale we highly recommend shopping for high-quality wardrobe forever staples, along with closet enhancing bags and shoes. Shoppers should be sure to mention Madison Avenue Spy for additional discount promotions.

    Goop Merchandise Markdowns 70% Off

I’m not a big follower of Gwennie but I’ve always respected her luxe sensibilities. Over the weekend, an Instagram follower DMed me about a great markdown on the Goop site. I was skeptical but promised to investigate. After a fulfilling late-night scroll, I decided it was worth sharing.

Right now, you can save 70% off a healthy selection of Gwenth Paltrow’s favorite things on Goop. The assortment consists of some uptown favorites like Nili Lotan lounge pants that are $135 from $450– they are cashmere! I’m a tempted by these painter pants that are $100 from $345 and I adore these Victoria Beckham slingbacks that are $260 from $860.

I’m always a sucker for a white cotton Summer dress. There are lots of options, including this version from Khaite with puffy sleeves that’s $325 from $1080, another style with dainty straps that is $300 from $990,  and a gauzy dress from Arkas that’s $100 from $325.

I can vouch that even after scrolling, I haven’t “uncoupled” or considered fruit varieties for baby names.  Just take note, all sales are final and we can’t imagine that Gwennie will be very accessible for customer service issues.
