    Rebecca Taylor Private Online Sale

Memorial Day isn’t too far and getting wardrobe ready for long summer weekends should not be done on a moment’s notice. Rebecca Taylor is currently hosting a private sale on her website. The sale contains sophisticated weekend looks and many are just about $100. The sale runs through March 9th.

You can use this link to access the Rebecca Taylor site but you will need to fill out a long form, which requires a laundry list of personal information, to access the private sale. Once inside, you’ll find this white strapless dress for $88 from almost $300, a versitile pencile skirt with zippers for $105 from $350 and a very Kate Middleton lace shift for $195 from $325.

Nancy Gonzalez Sale with Early Access

Just in time for Mother’s Day, Nancy Gonzalez is hosting her sample sale where her famous exotic skin bags will be significantly reduced. The sale doesn’t open to the public until Monday, May 6 but Madison Avenue Spy readers have been invited a day early to shop the Sunday VIP pre-sale.

Shoppers can attend the pre-sale by giving a $36 donation (or more), which will go to New York Cancer Center. All contributions are matched by Shelly & Renee. Please
    email us here
if you would like to attend. Space is limited. There will be a guest list at the door on Sunday but the remaining dates are open to the general public sans a donation.

This season, we hear that the sale will include more stock than ever, which is the main reason for the venue change. (This popular sale is historically hosted at the Flatotel.) You can see pricing from the last sale right here.

The public days of this sale are always very popular and can be quite chaotic. We suggest that serious Nancy Gonzalez shoppers should take advantage of this pre-shopping opportunity. With prices like these you can get a bag for mom and yourself and still have money for lunch.

    Spring Shoe Sale at Bloomingdales

    By ManhattanMataHari

If you’re in need of some spring and summer updates for your shoe closet, Bloomingdales has freshly marked down some of their contemporary and designer shoes 25% to 30%. On the second floor, there are plenty of Tory Burch sandals, Frye boots, and Coach wedges to look forward to. We were especially disappointed Bloomie’s newest addition and Kate Middleton’s favorite, L.K. Bennett, are excluded from the sale. However, head upstairs to the high end designer shoe salon and you will not be disappointed.

While we were told that the high-end designers like Prada, Chanel, Dior, Miu Miu and Fendi were excluded from the sale, there are certain styles we found on the sales racks. Prada Fume platform maryjanes are now $712 from $950, while Fendi red patent pointy pumps are $513 from $685.

Embellished smoking slippers dominate the racks, with great blue velvet options from Jil Sander for $431 (originally $575) and embroidered Marc Jacobs for $371 (originally $495). Ferragamo fans will find loads of t-strap sandals with signature hardware for $371 from $495. We were most tempted by Stuart Weitzman’s cult favorite “Alex” espadrille wedges, which are now a cool $206 from $365.

Dior addicts will also make out well; we spotted lots of different styles on the sales racks including black patent wedges for $525 (originally $700), patent platform sandals with metallic signature patterned heels for $712 (originally $950) and some fancy glitter peep toe pumps with sequin heels for $607 ($810 originally).

Since the sale just started, there should be plenty of sizes. But we still suggest you stop by 59th street early to beat the weekend shoppers. If you’re looking for even more incentive you can save an additional 20% when you purchase two pair of shoes and use the code SHOE online. When shopping in stores you can use the above bar code.

    Yigal Azrouel’s Amazing Sample Sale

If you were considering going to the Yigal Azrouel we suggest you stop thinking and start moving. Today we headed downtown to preview the sale and were so successful that we canceled our trainer and substituted bag carrying as a full body workout.

For starters, the sale takes over the Yigal’s entire retail space on Grand Street. Insiders told us that the sale space expanded because the designer wanted room to release his archive pieces, which he has never done before. To say there is a lot to choose from is an understatement and the prices are even better than the selection.

Open stock prices for Yigal’s contemporary line, Cut25 by Yigal Azrouel start at $75 for skirts and $100 for dresses and run up to $300 for leather jackets. The best part is that much of the selection is from this season, which is currently in stores. For example, a non-leather jacket very similar to this awesome motorcycle jacket is at Saks for $895 but is just $175 at the sale. A knit dress is $125 from $375 and this skirt is $75 from $250.

Moving over to the designer’s namesake collection, there was a large selection of open stock items with this floral print. Dresses like this great silk print, this knit number and this blue eyelit style that are all $250 from a retail price of about $900 and can be found in a range of sizes. Leather jackets, like this $1800 version , are $500 and a perfectly assembled white leather dress is %500 from a retail price of almost $2500.

If you’re on the hunt for the real killer deals then you need to head straight to the back. There are samples and archive items galore and everything is priced to move. Yigal samples are $60 and leather items are $125. Cut25 samples are just $30 and leather items are $100.

Sample racks can be hit or miss but almost every item we found was a hit. We found this classic Yigal tuxedo jacket from resort 2013 ($60). A cropped version like this was also $60. This stretchy print dress, this white and chartreuse number and this sexy body-con style were also all $60. There were also a smattering of leather jackets but blew out faster than a vintage Ducati on the Autobahn.

In addition to all the women’s finds there is also a few racks of men’s clothing. The guys shopping didn’t even seem to notice the mostly nude women trying on clothing in every which corner of the room. Yup, you read correctly, there’s no dressing room and a few guys wondering around. On the bright side, we couldn’t imagine a more unsexy atmosphere and that’s including the completely bare models.

You can see a full range of pictures and price sheets right here. On and on your way out, don’t miss the python belts that are just $20!

Guide to Getting In: Manolo, Louboutin & Choo

Early May is turning out to be the trifecta in shoe sample sales. Manolo, Louboutin and Choo have all decided that now is the perfect time to unload their overstock. Like any triathlon these sales will test your endurance and your loyalty to sample sales.

In light of the current situation, we thought we would create a full on survival guide. Anyone who is adverse to long lines or crowds is better waiting for a good department store discount or shopping a discount store with top shoe brands, like DSW. If you’re continuing on with this post, we will assume you’re willing to take the plunge and play footsie with the big girls.

Below are specific hints on how to manage through three of the toughest sales of the season:

    Manolo Blanhik
    Wednesday, May 8th (invite-only)
    Thursday, May 9th (public day)
    Doors open at 9am
    Warwick Hotel, 65 W 54th St. & 6th Ave, 2nd fl.

Manolo Blanhik is one sale that treats its customers like, well, customers. Attendees are invited to take a number, on in this case letter, and come back in a specified amount of time. Alterntivily, shoppers can wait in the ballroom but why sit around when you can do some shopping damage while you’re waiting to shop?

Most shoppers usually start arriving by 7am on the first public day but we have been to the press event and the public day and the two experiences don’t compare. As you would expect, a full day of editor shopping with Andre Leon Talley can wipe out an entire collection.

If you want to shop with the big fish you’re going to need to shop on Wednesday. Getting onto that coveted invitation list is not easy but is not impossible. In this instance, social media is literally your friend. Use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and even Vine to connect with those who have their foot in the door. We suggest directing your searches to company employees and those who have editorial connections with the brand.

    Jimmy Choo
    Tuesday, May 7th, 12pm~7pm through Wednesday, May 8th, 9am~7pm
    Tues 12pm to 7pm, Wed 9am to 7pm
    Metropolitan Pavilion
    123 W. 18th St. (btwn. 6th & 7th Ave), 4th Floor

Generally speaking, sample sales never really begin at noon. If you ever see a noon start time you can safely assume that there will be a select list of early shoppers– as is the case with this sale. If you’re looking to avoid a four hour line and get the best pick you can apply our social media tactic but because of the scale of this event you can spread your net to buyers and service suppliers.

The line to get into the Jimmy Choo sale is the most grueling of all these sales. One season the line spanned the full length of West 18th Street then wrapped up 7th Avenue and continued along West 19th Street. It was over four hours long!! Prices for most styles are $225. That’s about 60% to 80% off being that retail prices for pumps normally run from about $595 to about $795. Real bargain hunters should opt for the “damages” that are all priced at $75.

Our best advise is to wait until the afternoon of the last day and avoid all lines. As an extra bonus, those who can away until the end of the sale may be rewarded with extra discounts. Last season, the damage pile was reduced to just $50. Imagine the time you will save and the amount of Choos you can take home if they are just $50!

    Christian Louboutin
Monday, May 13 through Friday, May 17
    Daily 9am to 5pm, Fri. 9am to 3pm
    306 W. 38th St. (bet. 8th & 9th Ave.)

The Christian Louboutin sale is the most difficult of the year. It’s no wonder, considering the whole corporate culture of the brand. To break into this bank of red soles you’re going to have to leave the cyber world and make some real world friends.

Each invitation comes with one guest, which means that everyone attending the sale can bring a buddy. The thing is that most people who go to the sale seem to fly solo. We suggest that those who are clawing for an invite make a quick on-line (not, online) friend.

Prices at Louboutin usually start at the $225 mark go up to $550 for boots. There’s no restocking and by mid-week most sizes are almost completely sold out. Those who wear a size 6 or below or 9.5 and above usually can take adavantage of the most fuitful selection.

    Happy Saling!!!!

    Inside Thakoon’s Sample Sale

If you’re looking for motivation to stick with your current diet or exercise regimen, look no further than Thakoon Panichgul’s sample sale. The selection and prices are noteworthy but those who fit into a sample size four will make out better than a thief with a king’s ransom.

The sale is basically broken down to four color coded prices, which run $50, $100, $150 and $200. Most samples are a straight size four and are priced at $50 or $150 for more elaborate pieces. The open sock for both Thakoon and Thakoon Addiction are priced the same way.

Hot pink Thakoon dresses were $150 as was a full gold lame maxi dress. There’s a lot of stock from the resort 2012 collection including, the black and white story and yellow and white combinations. Most of the tops are priced at $150 and the dresses are generally $200. (You can use these pictures for reference.)

The selection also includes items from this spring season, including lots of aqua and bright prints with gold. This butterfly dress was $150 but is in Saks for $920. We also found some wonderful floral trenches with retail prices upwards of $1500 marked down to $100.

Mixed into the color coated dots were a few more ornate items like a full lather dress for $300, a brown leather jacket for $250 and a heavy winter dress with lots of ornate beading for $400. Along the floor shoppers who wear a size 40 shoe will have lots of $100 from which to choose.

The sale does have a small amount of open stock and some styles even have a full size range. We even spotted a few skirts in a size 10 and dresses in size 8s. So not all is lost if you’re not a svelte size four.  You can see a full set of pictures from our shopping trip with a clicky clicky right here.

    Get Ready: Louboutin Sample Sale

The Christian Louboutin sample sale is legend among sample sale fanatics. It’s closed to the public and invitations are as covetted as one to the Met Ball. We are not sure why the brand is so difficult with its sample sale but you can always count on a flurry of excitement when word leaks.

Unconfirmed sources tell us that this season’s sale will begin Monday, May 13th and run all week. Press invitations are scheduled to begin Wednesday, May 15th. Each press invitation includes a guest. So if you’re looking to score a moment to shop your best bet would be with a media contact.

Prices are highly discounted with most styles start coming in at the $225 mark and ranging up to $550 for boots. Espadrille wedges may be found for $150 but that would be the bottom of the barrel.

We will be sure to bring you Louboutin sample sale coverage up to and throughout the sale. Please feel free to email and tweet us info and pictures.

True Samples, Insanely Low Prices at Kim Ovitz

    By ManhattanMataHari

If you’re petite and fit into a true sample size then you’re going to need to go to the Kimberly Ovitz sample sale. Size 4s brace yourselves!

All collection pieces are $25 (many of her dresses retail in the $400 range) and her diffusion line O is all $15. There are many of Ovitz’s signature diaphanous jersey dresses which are appropriate for the season, but the most desirable styles we spotted were long sleeved collection dresses. There are some gorgeous body-con beige patterned dresses reminiscent of Lindsay Lohan’s now-infamous “Glavis” dress, as well as a neat gray dress with tiered silk sleeves. A basic black wool sheath dress with perfect tailoring and back zipper detail was a standout, along with a fancy gold sequined cocktail dress with back cutout.

For those of us not a perfect size 4, the O by Kimberly Ovitz line has some great high-low cut “Haru” tencel dresses that’s more forgiving and perfect for a pool or beach cover-up –especially at just $15. There are also some sample bins on the floor, but the majority of the items are still pinned or unfinished. There is also a rack of pants available, but nobody seemed that interested in them.

Be cautioned there are no fitting rooms, so layer appropriately for try-ons. Since there will be no restocking, it is better to check this sale out earlier rather than later. A nice bonus? Each purchase comes with a reusable eco-friendly Kimberly Ovitz tote bag.
