    The It-it: Hipanema Bracelet

Summer is the perfect time to shed all that unwanted fashion weight. We love taking advantage of the warm weather to turn that heavy gold watch in for something with a casual rubber strap, exchange flashlight diamond rings for something light and delicate and end that heavy arm party for a more playful fiesta of a Hipanema bracelet.

Hipanema bracelets are a collection of bright colored ribbons, beads, stones and coins connected by a bold magnetic clasp. The styling is reminiscent of the friendship lanyard and string bracelets we would make at summer camp.

Each bracelet is hand made and can take up to 36 hours to complete. We love that each style is named after a lively vacation spot, for example there’s Cannes, Mexico and Saint Tropez. According to Brazillian custom the bracelet should be worn on the left wrist and represents friendship, which is always the most sentimental feature of summer.

    Hipanema Bracelets $58 – $118

NY’s First Cash Mob at Second Time Around

Shopping is fun but shopping with friends is always better. This Thursday, Second Time Around’s Upper West Side location is hosting a totally unique discount promotion that is poised to unite friends and offers amazing savings.

While we’ve all heard of flash mobs we are much more attracted to the money savings opportunity of a “Plurro Cash Mob.” As you and your friends RSVP to the Second Time Around sale the discount will increase. As of now, the markdown stands at 20% but once more than 20 customers RSVP the discount will go to 25% off anything in the store. When 50 people RSVP the savings will increase to 30%. You see? The more people who attend the sale, the more money you save.

In addition to being a fun way to shop, Second Time Around’s Plurro Cash Mob sale is stocked with some ultra discounted designer finds. We hear that the sale will include plenty of Manolo Blahnik, Prada, Gucci and Louboutin. During our sneak preview we spied a Louis Vuitton travel case, Herve Leger dresses and some standout pieces from D&G.

You, your friends, family, colleagues and other can acquaintances download the Plurro iPhone and iPad application here to join the Plurro Cash Mob craze. After you’re logged in, you can continue to the Second Time Around promotion and join in by clicking the “Attend Cash Mob” button. When you arrive at the store, simply pull up the Mobile Ticket in the app and you get your discount. Simple, right? You can also click here to see a full tutorial of the Plurro app and all of its capabilities.

This completely new way of shopping is poised to take New York by … mob. You are entirely in control of your savings and you never know when a discount will strike.

So while you may be more accustomed to a Zumba flash mob in and Central we prefer the participation of Plurro’s first ever New York Cash Mob at Second Time Around. Hey, the savings may even repair the damage that all those silly dances did to your reputation.

    Milly End of Summer Sale

The Milly boutique is hosting their end of summer sale where discounts top 60% off. The markdown includes merchandise from this past summer season but a wider selection of sale items are available online.

Our favorite Milly fashion is always the collection for tots, which is equally adored by kids and their wardrobe sponsors. (Semi-out of context disclaimer: The above pictures is adorable but not me or my daughters.) This pink and white shift dress ($90 from $180) equally caught the attention of our mini-spies, which range in age from two to eight. And we’ve never met a child who can resist a pailette encrusted skirt ($68 from $135) or an adult who can pass up a half-off discount on an item that will be worn until its threadbare.

Had enough with forking over for the overindulged tots? How about glamming up in this ruffled shift that’s now $133 from $385 or this embellished beach cover-up for $146 from almost $300. While shopping, don’t skip the accessories. We love this blue and white pint canvas bag that’s $147 from $295.

Although the Milly boutique is great we do prefer the online assortment. Shopping online also makes it  much easier to price compare as the department stores may have better pricing on select items.

Discounter Gabay’s: Givenchy, Chloe & Prada

Although we are pretty adept on finding almost any item on sale there are some designer merchandise that requires a bit more shopping agility. Gabay’s Outlet, on the Lower East Side, is one of our favorite sources for hard-to-find designer discount merchandise.

Lets take the sleek Givenchy Pandora, as an example. This bag is almost impossible to find marked down but Gabay’s has it for a deep discount. How about those Prada silver metallic kitten heels with the black bow that sold out as soon as they hit stores? Yes, Gabay’s has a few pair and they are more discounted than all the shoes in Bergdorf Goodman. A oxblood McQueen beauty? Yup. Gucci Simla convertible satchel? It’s there too. The store is also stocked with Celine and Jimmy Choo shoes that will make your mouth  water more than ice-cream in 100-degree heat.

As you already know, Gabay’s merchandise is always brand new and authentic. Customers are welcome to call, email or visit Gabay’s. Shipping is free and the merchandise is always a great deal. Click to this jump page to see more pictures of the great items Gabay’s has in stock.

    The IT-it: Sweatshirts

Sweatshirts aren’t just for keeping warm any more. The cozy warm pullovers are quickly becoming a high fashion statement piece for both men and women. This is a slam duck for high fashion where the margins are high and the  logo opportunities are plentiful.

On the high end of the spectrum you have Givenchy’s Rottweiler sweatshirts, which cost north of $1000. On the other end of the fashion scale you can spend just $80 and snag Brian Lichtenberg and Reason Clothing’s playful wordplay sweats like, “Homiès” (Hermès), Celine Dion (Céline) and “Comme des F*ckdown” (Comme des Garçons).

More importantly this item is a great entry level fashion piece for those with designer aspirations. In plain English, that means that you will be seeing sweatshirts lining the front row of fashion week in September. The Givenchy cat and Kenzo embroidered version are already cliche among street style fashion bloggers. We prefer to go down market with this trend and suggest not making a big investment. After all, we wouldn’t be surprised if all these pieces end up at Goodwill in a matter of two seasons.

In order to avoid looking like you stepped out of a Lifetime version of Pretty in Pink we suggest pairing your sweatshirt with a statement necklace, a great pair of heels or a stylish skirt. We love how Your So Jane paired her sweatshirt with a leather flounced skirt and the more casual look of a sweatshirt with rolled up boyfriend jeans matched basic converse sneakers as done by Isabella M.

    Baccarat Jewelry Sale

Baccarat is hosting a summer jewelry trunk show where most pieces are being offered at a 25% discount. The promotion is taking place through Saturday, July 27. You can browse the crystal jewels at the new Madison Avenue flagship boutique or shop online here.

Among our favorite pieces are the Aude Lechère designed wire earrings for $285 from $380, a crimson flower ring for $446 from $630 and a double heart pendant for $157 from $210. The price point of these Baccarat jewels makes it more attractive to offer your hostess a necklace than a vase. And we bet she likes the crystal bling just as much as the home decor.
