    Saint Laurent Presale Starts Now

    The presale at Saint Laurent started today. The discount on clothing is 40% and shoes and bags are marked down 30%. The sale goes public on Black Friday but presale shoppers can take their purchases home mow.

    Sale shoppers should be quick to grab the seasonal colored Sac de Jour bags. We aren’t a big fan of the studded buckle ankle boots but they have been a host seller. We are sure those $5000 moto jackets aren’t flying off the shelves but they become a bit more attractive when discounted 40%. But doesn’t everything look more attractive when on sale?

    Gucci Presale Begins

    The presale at Gucci started today. Although the store is taking presale orders you you will not be able to take your purchases home until December 4. Those buying online will will have to wait until that date to have your order shipped.

    If you’re shopping online, you can use this Gucci private sale link. Clothing, shoes and sunglasses are discounted 50% off. Bags are discounted 30% off. Most of the sale handbags are styles with the Gucci logo. One standout exception is the Emily Chain Shoulder bag, which is $1819 from $2600. If you’re in need of a tall riding boot we especially like the Eleonora, which is $649 from almost $1300. Take a look at this check flannel dress that’s $1097 from $2150 and this floral degrade dress is s is $1279 and $2550.

    Post-Thanksgiving Sample Sales

    This week, the biggest friends and family event is Thanksgiving. The only notable sample sales are Montblanc and Bulgari at Soiffer Haskin, which runs until Tuesday, November 26th at 6:30pm. If you’re looking for some great sample sales than you’re going to want to look forward to next week. Below are some of our favorite post-Thanksgiving sample sales:

    Details: Yigal is one of our favorite sample sales of the season. We love how there are both designer and contemporary merchandise, there are lots of true samples and the prices are really attractive. At the last sale we found Yigal Azrouel open stock priced at 80% off and samples priced at 60%. Cut25 open stock was about 70% off and samples were priced at $30 and leather was $100.     Hanro of Switzerland
    Tuesday, December 3 and Wednesday, December 4

    Details: Basic underwear, underpinnings, loungewear and sleepwear for both women and men swill be discounted up t 75% off. This sale is mostly samples and sizes will be very limited outside of extra small and small for women mediums for men.

    Details: Alexis Bittar is opening their showroom for this sample sale. We are told that discounts will be about 70% off but imagine that price cuts will be made throughout the sale. Some pricing examples include large earring for $79 from $199 and a pendant necklace for $99 from $275.

    The Best Department Store Shopping

    If you’re looking to avoid the large international crowds than this weekend would be the time to begin your holiday shopping, Most department stores have started presales that include most of store’s seasonal winter inventory. Generally, Christian Louboutin and Chanel do not allow their merchandise to be discounted until mid-December.

    Here’s an overview of what you’ll find within our local department stores:

    Barneys:
    The Madison Avenue department store has the best first markdown with clothing, shoes, accessories and handbags all discounted 40%. Among the included reduced items are Prosenza Schouler PS1 bags in several shades, like purple, blue, green and rust. Studded Saint Laurent bags are also part of the discounted inventory, along with a small selection of Givenchy bags, like the HDG Hobo. In the shoe department, you can count on most of the Prada and Miu Miu collection to be discounted along with Chloe and Gucci.

    Bergdorf Goodman (Neiman Marcus):
    The discount on designer clothing is 40% off, while shoes are discounted 33% and bags are 30%. Upstairs, on F5 you can already find contemporary clothing reduced up to 65% off, which is more than any other store. While browsing we found lots of amazing deals. For example, this Theory leather shift dress is marked $319 from $919 and J Brand’s Super Skinny Metallic Suede Jeans are about $350 from $1000.

    Saks Fifth Avenue:
    Forget about shopping first markdown. In-the-know Saks customers want to shop the Black Friday sales before, well, Friday. Prices for the shopping extravaganza are usually reduced an extra 50% off of reduced if you can get to the store before noon. We can’t say that a sales associate will be able to pull the merchandise from the floor but if you have a good relationship you might be able to have someone “keep an eye” on your most covetable items.

    Montblanc Sample Sale

    Montblanc’s “private” friends and family sale is always a great place to pick up sophisticated gifts without breaking the bank. This sale is usually a reader favorite. Although, it’s dubbed private it’s not. Period.

    Last season shoppers were not happy with the sale. They said there were enormous lines and overcrowding. One Montblanc fan said she made it into the sale at noon all the rollerballs or ball point pens were already sold out.

    Those who got to the sale earlier found watches, pens, jewelry, bags and accessories. Most items were 65% off and leather goods were 75% off. All the pens that were under $300 went very quickly– as illustrated above. A limited selection of watches were more $1000. Cufflinks ranged in price from $100 to $300.

    The sale is only two days, starting Monday. There is no restocking and loyal fans turn out in mass for this discount opportunity. Those planning to majorly stock up should be warned that there there is a maximum of 12 pieces or and four watches for each shopper.

    Collections for Holiday Shopping Inspiration

    At this time of year, it’s hard to feel motivated to shop when it’s a task listed on your to-do list. We always recommend that you begin your holiday shopping with a bit of inspiration. We recently curated several style-influenced collections on eBay to spark ideas for great gifts (and items for yourself.)

    One of our collections is composed of items we envision as It-Girl Must-Haves. We included everything from a hot pink Mulberry Alexa to a white Alaia dress to an Hermes Collier De Chien cuff.     Presales Starting on Madison

    Temperatures are dropping and so are prices. Today, we collected markdown intelligence from Madison Avenue boutiques that are beginning presale and discounts. Take note, some stores can be a bit cagy about their presales. It’s best to ask for a particular sales associate or call ahead to see if an appointment is necessary. It’s still early in the season for great boutique discounts. So we’ll just call this our seasonal amuse bouche. Enjoy!

    Chloe
    Presale will begin by appointment on Thursday and the sale officially begins on December 29. Clothing will be discounted 40% and shoes and a few select handbags will be discounted 30%.

    Dolce & Gabbana
    The Monreale inspired collection from Dolce & Gabbana will be discounted 30% to 40% off. The sale officially begins December 1 but presale started yesterday. Accessories and shoes are 40% off, while clothing is discounted 30%. Exclusions include, special pieces and the company’s black lace and gowns.

    Lanvin
    Presale started today at Lanvin. Clothing and jewelry are discounted 40% and shoes are 30% off. Some styles of ballet flats are included in the markdown but it’s hard to generalize about which ones. The sale officially begins November 25.

    Missoni
    The markdown at Missoni started last week and discounts range from 40% to 50% off. The markdown depends on how much stock they have of an individual item. So, you can assume that the hottest pieces of the season are discounted less. Winter accessories, like hats and gloves are not included in the sale but discounts have been applied to shoes, belts and jewelry.

    Presale started at Proenza Schouler for VIP clients (i.e. editors, VIPs and those who have shopped at the story previously). “It’s a tight list” but we imagine that a store manager can accommodate serious customers. All others will need to wait until December 5th to shop the discounts. The markdown is 30% off clothing and runway bags.
