    Alessi Warehouse Sale 75% Off

Sometimes we get a bit obsessed with clothing and accessories. We don’t, however, live in a cardboard box. On occasion we need to take the time to nourish our surroundings with beautiful and inspiring design. Alessi’s designs are the perfect intersection between whimsy and functionality.

Until the end of the month both Manhattan’s Alessi stores are moving out overstock, discontinued items and floor samples at up to 75% off. We took a peak in at the 60th Street location and ended up with a full delivery worth of modern and playful accessories. The haul included an a tempo citrus basket for $20 from %50, the Philippe Starck Joe Cactus ashtray was $30 from $90 and a Michael Graves water pitcher for $90 from over $300.

For the first time, we found the Anna G corkscrew on sale (yellow only) for $46 from $67. We love giving these “gals” as hostess gifts. It’s always a great conversation piece. Popular tea kettles are not on sale. We suggest calling ahead if you have something specific in mind.

Final Sale Days at Bergdorf Goodman

The snow hasn’t melted but most of our favorite stores have shipped away their winter boots and shearling lined jackets. Since Bergdorf Goodman starts their sale later in the season, it’s not surprising that their sale runs later than most. Right now, the Fifth Avenue store is clearing out the last of their winter merchandise and there are some really great items marked more than 75% off.

Inside the Chanel boutique there isn’t a lot of selection beyond an assortment of size 50s. We did find a gorgeous hunter green cashmere cardigan with burgundy trim is about $790 from $3145. (That’s less expensive than a resale store.)

Heading up to the sixth floor, you will find most sale items consolidated. A Roland Mouret jacket is $637 from $2550, a Peter Pilotto print dress is $373 from $1495 and a DVF body-con dress is $116 from $465.

Unfortunately, there aren’t any bags that are worthwhile but there are some shoes and accessories that may help you get through these final snowstorms. Maison Martin Margiela long patent leather gloves are $203 from $815, shearling lined Prada moto boots are about $500 from $1100, studded oxfords are $337 from $750 and Saint Laurent riding boots are $740 from $1645.

Although it may seem late to buy winter merchandise, the heard truth is that we likely have at least two more months of cold weather. Perhaps a few new pieces of winter clothing will have you rejoicing from the next snow storm? Of course, that’s just wild optimism.

Ralph Lauren Olympic Fever Nearly Sold Out

While we’ve been joking over the “vibrantly” designed “Christmas Sweaters” that the olympians wore to the opening ceremony, Ralph Lauren has been laughing all the way to the bank. Those patch work sweaters that were the focus of many fashion jokes, are completely sold out along with most of the collection.

If you’re considering grabbing bit of Sochi sports memorabilia, we suggest you do so soon. Team USA Ralph Lauren bear is already sold out and so is our favorite pea coat. So what can you buy if you’re in need of some Olympics nostalgia? There’s the Team USA zip-up jacket for $195, the opening ceremony hat for $95 and team USA crewneck flag sweater for $295. There’s also an assortment of tees for both men and women.

After shopping the olympic gear, you should also check out the designer’s final sale. All clearance merchandise is an extra 20% off with the code LASTCHANCE20. Most of the best final markdown merchandise is already gone but you might get lucky. Afterwards you can head over to JC Penny and pick up GO USA mittens for $10 from $14. Just be careful when tweeting.

Fashion Week: Pink Wednesdays and Midi-Skirts

Our feet are shot and the novelty of celebrity spotting and free cocktails is wearing off but that doesn’t mean our fetish for fashion has fleeted. Today, we continue to call out the biggest trends of the season the moment they emerge.

    The Midi-Skirt
This season’s midi-skirt take the spotlight from her two older sisters, the miniskirt and the maxi skirt. For fall 2014, almost every designer incorporated this mid-calf length skirt into their line-up. Michael Kors, Reede Krakoff and Proenza Schouler are just a few of the designers who opted to embrace this new skirt length. Take notice of the assortment of shoes. Kors paired the skirt with sandals, Krakoff used low boots and Proenza opted for oxfords. Which styling do you like best?

    Pink Wednesdays
Ever read a person’s totally absurd bio? Like, so-and-so popularized the use of the term “wasabi,” in place of “what’s up.” Well I’ve made it my personal mission to popularize Pink Wednesdays. Yes, like in the movie Mean Girls. After all, “On Wednesdays we wear pink.” This season, designers are making it easy to blush it up, with a large assortment of pink to choose from. J. Crew showed the prettiest pastel pink coat, Thakoon opted for a hot pink and Delpozo used a petal pink. Now, who is jointing me in Pink Wednesdays?

Fashion Week: Boots and Silver Lame

Fashion week is going strong and we are fully intoxicated with the thrill winter 2014. As the shows continue trends continue to emerge. Here are a few more to inspire your wardrobe.

    Blissful Boots
Some women live and die for shoes but we prefer the multi-personalities of a boot. They are sexy, hard and sometimes nuts. This season we see all shapes and sizes of the winter staple. Check out Alexander Wang’s mid-calf-mule-boot. The laser-cut leather detailing adds texture and style. Tory Burch footwear was a mashup of heavy wool knee-highs and lace-up pumps. Diesel took a modern take on the cowboy boot with multiple buckles and a metal toe.

    Silver Lame Lives
Last season we highlighted the growing popularity of gold lame. This season we see designers turning to the trend’s twin sister– silver lame. Pamella Roland paired textured lame pants with a heavy fur silver fur topper. Libertine used silver lame to create a chessboard textured top and paired it with embellished pants. Vera Wang went with silver lame cropped pants with a transparent blouse and added extra long fur scarf for a texture of luxe.

    Sexy Guiseppe Zanotti Sale

Watching fur, gowns and leather stream down the runway all week can really drum up the fashion bug. It’s, however, unlikely that we are going to start shopping the full price looks from right off the runway. That’s why we were so thrilled to shop, Amuze. The online discounter runs weekly flash sales of some of our favorite designers.

Tonight, the site will be launching a selection of Guiseppe Zanotti shoes all priced at 65% off. A pair of red fringed suede booties are $450 from $1295 and calf hair stilletos are $315 from $895.

Seems good? We agree, but there’s even a better deal for you. Madison Avenue Spy readers can use the code “madavespy” at checkout and receive 10% off your purchase. Remember this sale will only be around for a limited time so shop now before it’s gone!

Fashion Week: Illusion and Capes Create Magic

We are nearly half way through fashion week and it doesn’t take long for trends to emerge. Here are three trends that you can expect to see on the street and in pages of your favorite fashion magazines this coming Winter.

    Magical Illusion
Sheer panels give winter’s heavy designs a suggestive edge, without revealing too much. These strategically placed pieces of illusion lighten up heavy winter looks with a glimpse of skin. We love how they are paired with heavy velvet, taffeta and heavy layers of fabric. In the looks above, Donna Karan draped a see-threw layer over a band top and mini sort, Dennis Basso lightened a heavy skirt with a bodice of jewel detailing over illusion and Tadashi Shoji lightened heavy embroidered velvet with a deep v-neck of sheer.

    The Cape in All Sizes
A cape adds a bit of drama to almost any outfit. For winter, capes come in all shapes and sizes. The only drawback is looking like you are dressing for a duel. Wearing a cape is a grand gesture within itself and should not be over accessorized. Look for versions that are tailored and sleek. Above Monique Lhuillier capes what would otherwise be a normal shift dress, Reem Acra adds drama and tames a silver lame dress with a mid-length cape and The Row added a maxi-cape to the neckline of a basic sweater dress.
