    Sample Sale: Vive le Vivier!

It doesn’t take a fortune teller to predict that the Roger Vivier sale would be popular but we were surprised to learn that fans stated lining up for the sale 10 hours before it opened. Those who didn’t camp out all night prior to the sale opening, found themselves waiting an average four hours to enter the sale.

Don’t say that we didn’t warn you!

On Sunday afternoon, there was no line to get into the sale. There was no line to check your coat. There was no line to pay either. As a matter of fact, on Sunday, there were more employees working at the sale than people shopping the sale. The best part was that there were still mountains shoes from which to shop.

Almost all the merchandise is reduced 50% to 60% off retail. Basic black pumps with no signature buckle start at $225 and long and ornate boots are priced up to $2000. Most buckle shoes are $300 to $350. A small assortment of little girl’s buckle shoes were $200.

Take note, the best selection ranges from size 39 and up. If you’re outside of that range, you might have a harder time finding your size in the buckle section but there are still lots of other styles from which to choose.

The handbag section is still fully stocked with a rainbow of colors. There are dozens of great clutches, Miss Vivs and micro Miss Vivs. Prices start at about $525 from a small bag and go up to about $2000 for a more ornate evening clutch. The wallet and accessory section is now very small.

Those who love a fine shoe should absolutely consider “shopping by.” It’s sad to say, but snagging even a basic Vivier for $225 seems like a steal. The sale runs through Tuesday and we are told there will be no restocking or end-of-sale discounts but we’ll keep updated if anything changes. More pictures are after the jump.

    Roger Vivier Sample Sale

    Your Hampton Retreat is Ready

Usually our conventional wisdom is the bigger-is-better. (This is especially true for jewelry.) When it comes to second homes, however, we would easily forgo expansive and expensive for manicured and manageable. Truthfully, who wants to worry about managing and staffing a secondary or tertiary home? That is not the definition of relaxing.

If you’re looking for the right place to spend a relaxing summer away from the city with your family, then we have the just the home. This beautiful Westhampton retreat is over 3000 sqft, features four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a heated pool with an electric solar pool cover. There’s also a hot outdoor shower and a stone patio great for barbecues. The kitchen is a modern delight and boasts a sky light and stainless steel appliances.

One of the highlights of this home is the ideal location. This house just south of Montauk Highway and within walking distance to a Hampton Synagogue. Just down the street is a municipal park with a track, tennis, baseball and basketball courts. The home is just a 10 minute walk to Long Island Railroad and Westhampton town center. The beach is a 15 minute bike ride the beach.

The best part is that this home is in move-in conditional. All you need is a set of keys and we suggest that you not make to many sets if you want to maintain the space as a tranquil retreat!

    Nordstorm Spring Sale 70% Off

If you think you’re having a hard time with the unseasonably cold weather, just speak to a retailer. This spring is shaping up to be a disaster for stores. We are anticipating discounts to become particularly aggressive. Last week, there were heavy mid-season markdowns at Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. This week, Nordstrom is offering shoppers discounts up to 70% off.

While browsing online we found this Barbour Gold Label leather and waxed cotton jacket for about $400 from $1000. A Helmut Lang dress with leather details is $402 from $670 and Michael, Michael Kors gladiator boots are $197 from almost $400.

There isn’t a huge selection within Nordstrom’s “designer collections” but the “Don’t you want me baby” tee from ALC almost seems like a no-brainer when it’s priced at $50 from $125.

    Tibi Online Sample Sale

We will be the first to say that online sample sales are never as good as the real thing. Nonetheless, Tibi is hosting an online “sample sale” that’s not all that bad. Prices are up to 70% off and there are lots of stylish items from which to choose.

We are big fans of Tibi’s true sample sale because of the very low prices and the wearability of the collections. As suspected, the online prices aren’t as good as the true sample sale but the selection is actually very good. Check out this leather asymmetrical wrap dress that’s now $173 from $575. Over here is a stretch velvet blazer for $150 from almost $500. While shopping be sure to check out the shoe selection too. There are a lot of really great styles that are priced at about $150.

Keep in mind, like real sample sales, there are no returns. On the flip side, there are also no lines. Take note, you will get a coupon code for an addition 15% off when you log into the sample sale with your email address.

    Statement Jewelry Perfect for Spring

It’s hard to dress up in the summer. There is nothing worse than looking over-styled when temperatures start heading near the triple digit. (It’s hard to imagine that ever happening again, but it will.) Our favorite way to fashion-up a simple dress or even a white tee is with bold and bright statement jewelry.

When picking out oversized costume jewelry, we suggest keeping it chic and cheap. Save the big bucks on fine jewelry and, like most things, a bit goes a long way.

Check out this Kenneth Jay Lane deco necklace. We love the bright colored stones paired with sparkling crystals and white enamel. It’s perfect for a walk on Main Street when paired with flats or a stroll down Madison with pumps or wedges. This large multi-metal and rienstone Janis Savitt necklace is perfect for adding an effortless cool to almost any outfit. We are thinking that this piece is so versatile that it will work with everything from cargo shorts to leather pants.

Be sure to check out the entire eBay Collection of statement jewelry. We’ve included new and vintage designer jewelry items from  Lulu Frost, YSL, Prada, Versace, Oscar de la Renta and more.

While you’re at it, we challenge you to create your own eBay Collection. From now until, March 31, 2014, whenever you create a collection using #ImBornTo in the title, eBay will donate $1 to March of Dimes (up to $25,000 total) and you’ll be entered for a chance to win a $5,000 eBay shopping spree.
Send us links to your collections and we will be sure to inspire readers by spreading the link through Twitter and Facebook.

My eBay Collections were curated as part of my collaboration with eBay.

    Presale: Bloomingdales Friends & Family

The spring Bloomingdales friends and family sale will officially begin April 2 and run through April 6. Presale started today in stores. The discount is 20% off but most premier designers and cosmetics are excluded from the promotion.

If you’re shopping online you should direct your attention towards this Halston Heritage shirt dress, which is city-to-country summer perfection. We love this Rachel Zoe fit and flare dress($375), which has the most unexpected open back and the Trina Turk rashguards and bikini bottoms ($72 each) are the perfect amount of pattern magic.

Although the friends and family exclusions are extensive, the last sale had a few exceptions. We are hoping that Giuseppe Zanotti and Valentino included in the promotion, as they were last season.

The Best of Armani for 90% Off

Armani may be the most under-appreciated designer in fashion. There, we said it. Looking beyond his iconic suiting, Armani designs with an Italian sensibility. It’s the perfect level of chic along with the highest level of quality.

The best part is that you can shop some of Armani’s greatest items for 90% off on Amuze. Check out this gorgeous leather shoulder bag. The quality is much better than anything from Saint Laurent and it also hasn’t been plastered though out the pages of every fashion magazine. This fashion gem is one of our favorite bag shapes for the season and is on sale on Amuze for $595 from $2295. These high-wasted silk pants are perfectly on trend for the season and are priced at $225 from $1295. (That’s even less expensive than the inferior quality offered by J. Crew.) You really can’t go wrong with these t-strap pumps for $250 from $650.

The Armani flash sale that runs until April 8. We would really suggest giving Armani a try, especially at 90% off. We are sure you will be pleasantly surprised. Also be sure to check out other ongoing flash sales from Chloe, Valention and Pierre Hardy. Use the code madavespy for free shipping.
