    Net-A-Porter Discounts Hit 80%

Net-A-Porter has started to aggressively discount its summer merchandise. Most merchandise has been discounted again and a small amount of merchandise is now 80%.

Among the most discounted clothing is a spattering of sweaters, dresses and shorts. This Vineet Bahl dress is reduced to $100 from $500, a Suno stretch dress is $260 from $1300 and an Ephemera one piece bathing suit is $76 from $380. Among the shoes are magnificent Antonio Berardi patent sandals for $350 from $1750 and Red Valentino star sandals are $150 from $750.

The winner of the most ridiculous item on Net-A-Porter is the Dolce & Gabbana boxed doll that’s reduced to $575 from $2875. It’s only outdone by the Jennifer Behr face mask that’s currently discounted $500-ish from the original price of $675. Not every toy can be as popular as a Karl.

    ShopBop 25% Off Sale Items

Just in time for the last minute beach season, Shopbop is offering an extra 25% off sale items. The extra discount brings the ultimate markdown to about 85% off. Just use the code 25MORE at checkout.

This is a great time to stock up. Browsing through the 70% off section, which is final sale, we found a Mary Katrantzou shoes that come to about $250 from $1080. (Perhaps it was priced too high to begin with?) We love this dramatic open front full-length skirt that checks out at about $190 from $770. Keeping within the same section of 70% off there is a romper that comes to just $65, a Rodarte dress that’s $6000 off the original price and lots and lots of swimsuits.

The sale ends on Thursday at midnight. This is the best deal you can expect, outside of Shopbop’s friends and family sale. Last season a similar promotion only offered customers an additional 20% off. If you ask us, seems like a good opportunity to celebrate July 4th.

    YSL Beauty Sale

Yves Saint Laurent Beauty is hosting an online sale where you can save 20% off. Just enter your email address and the discount will be applied to your shopping cart. Shipping is free with a purchase of $75 or more, which shouldn’t be difficult considering that a simple lipstick is $35.

Not sure what to buy? We love the the Touche Éclat Foundation, which virtually weightless and works well as a highlighter. Baby Doll Kiss & Blush will kiss your cheeks and blush you lips with the most wonderful air whipped mouse of color. The Effet Faux Cils Babydoll is legendary for it’s application brush, which is known to get to the “baby” lashes with just one stroke.

The sale runs through the end of the month. If you miss this promotion, keep an eye out for the Lord & Taylor friend’s and family sale. That beauty sale is only 15% but includes Chanel.

    The It-it: Retrouvé

For almost two decades La Mer has been the gold standard in face cream but there is a new crème de la crème. Retrouvé launched in 2013 and it’s quickly becoming the moisturizer of choice by beauty junkies all over the world.

The Retrouvé skincare line is the brainchild of Jami Morse Heidegger and her husband Klaus Heidegger. Jami comes from a long line of beauty experts–her father and grandfather developed Kiehl’s. The story goes that the couple worked to create a personal line of products that contained the most exclusive and effective ingredients available on the market for her skin, in the highest possible levels of concentration, regardless of the cost.

Needless to say when the mandate of securing ingredients has no budget the product is going to be expensive. Prices range in price from $460 to $520– about the same as a Botox treatment. The unisex line houses four core anti-aging products: facial moisturizer, face serum, face cream and eye concentrate. Each concoction contains no dyes, artificial fragrances, parabens or silicones and there is no animal testing. They are all really quite luxurious.

We figured that Retrouve was a good last resort before reverting to face freezing. If you’re not willing to make such a large investment in the face cream, we suggest hitting Bergdorf Goodman. Their current beauty gift bag promotion includes a half-ounce of Retrouvé. The gift bag is free with any $275 fragrance or beauty purchase and contains lots of other wonderful products like, Tata Harper body oil, Kevyn Acoin eye pencil, Chantecaille face oil, Sulwhasoo serum and a roller ball Gardenia fragrance from Robert Piguet. You can see everything included int he beauty bag here.

Just don’t be surprised when all your September fashion magazines have full page editorials about Retrouvé. It’s sure to be the IT anti-aging face cream.

Where to Find the Best Discounts Now

This week, second markdown topped the news. Almost all designer brands are on the sale list and have been reduced at least twice. (Chanel is still the exception.) At all of our department store’s spring and summer clothing is discounted 60% off but the prices of shoes and handbags vary greatly.

Take note, some boutiques offer even lower discounts than the department stores. Never discount the benefit of pre comparing with the boutiques. Below is a comparison chart of Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue. Take note that the discount on kids clothing at Saks is really fabulous. Hurry and stock up before the kids ship off to camp,

    Oh-Hum Finds and Nordstrom Rack

We’ve been doing so much upscale shopping that we decided to seek out some shopping action in a discount store. We headed due south to Nordstrom Rack, in Union Square.

The store was surprisingly crowded for mid-day. The line was somewhat long but those looking to expedite their purchases can ask for a mobile card swipe–as is done in an Apple store.

The first stop is always the shoe department. The first shoe we spotted was a Ferragamo silver chunky heel for $250 from $750 (71% off). We were encouraged to look further thinking that there would be lots of good finds but we were wrong. It was all down hill from there. Anything less than 60% off at a discount store isn’t much of a discount considering that most items are marked down more than 50% during the current season. We found Kate Spade flats discounted 50%, Cynthia Steffe heels reduced 40% and Chloe wedges cut by 50%. Click for pics of the aforementioned shoes and more.

The clothing selection was predominantly contemporary designers, like Kate Spade, Theory, Helmut Lang, DVF and DKNY. Some examples include a Ted Baker print dress for $150 from $300, an IRO tweed jacket for $250 from $800 and a DVF dress for $170 from $428. The store contains lots of clearance racks but sorting through them seems like a rather arduous chore. Pictures are this way.

The best finds are among the beauty products. We found a full assortment of Fekkai hair care, large bottles of Neutrogena body soap and a comprehensive variety of Bliss products. The problem is that most items can be found less at Costco.

Overall, we always love Nordstrom but there wasn’t much that was lust-wrothy. It’s still always a nice destination to kill an hour.

    Inside the Chanel Presale

It’s amazing that most local stores have already started their second markdowns when Chanel merchandise hasn’t even been discounted once. The Chanel sale doesn’t officially start until Tuesday, June 23. Presale will be permitted in Chanel boutiques on Friday but many local department stores have already started to facilitate sale shopping.

The discount on shoes and clothing is 40%. The bag situation is a lot more temperamental. The discount is 30% but most bags that are eligible for markdown don’t even make it to presale time. You can check back here for pictures as we receive more intel. For now, we have a pretty comprehensive list of the shoes that are eligible for markdown. Click here to see them all.

Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdales are generally the easiest places to presale Chanel shoes. Bergdorf Goodman often has the largest selection of sale handbags but breaking into ‘the society of Chanel sale’ is more difficult. Barneys, well, is always Barneys.

Good luck and feel free to send pictures and add information in the comment section.

Mr. Porter Discounts Hit 70% Off

Just in time for Father’s Day, Mr. Porter has brought their markdown to 70%. Shoppers will find lots of clothing and many accessories that are reduced 70%. Shoes are mostly discounted 50% to 60% off.

Some sale highlights include, Nudie Jeans that are just $62 from $215, Dan Ward swim shorts are $91 from $305 and a cotton and cashmere robe by Emma Willis is $336 from $1120. Among the shoes are Dolce & Gabbana slide sandals for $270 from $625, Adieu two-tone derby shoes are $320 from $800 and Ami green and white suede sneakers are $152 from $380.

Among the accessories are a large assortment of cufflinks and man bags that can be great gifts for dad, the man in your life or yourself. We especially like this Marni/Porter nylon messenger bag, an ombre leather cardholder and this classic Brioni belt.

All you need to do is add a silly card and a yummy treat to make a fantastic Father’s Day. Perhaps some game day tickets could be a great addition too.
