    Bloomingdales Friends & Family

Presale for the upcoming Bloomingdales friends and family started today. The sale officially beings on Tuesday but those in the know can start pre-saling their purchases in the store now. The discount is 25% off off fashion and home and 20% off jewelry. Online shoppers can use the code FRIENDS.

The exclusions don’t seem too extensive. Among the categories not included in the friends and family promotion are women’s designer collections, beauty and fragrance. Although the discount can’t be applied to beauty purchases you can receive an ombré wrap when you spend $125 or more.

If you’re interested in buying designer merchandise, including Chanel, we suggest you take advantage of Bloomingdale’s power points. That means that if you purchase a $2000 Prada boots, you will receive a $500 gift card that can be applied in 60-days to anything in the store– including Chanel. To get your Power Points you must be a loyalist but that really means just signing up for a bonus card.

Your Virtual Closet: Prada, Gucci, Stella and Oscar

By this time of year we’ve all poured ourselves over the September issues and stalked our favorite designer pieces in stores. After all, everyone has a budget and no one can have everything. Well, we have a secret that can get you at least most of everything you like.

Couture Collective allows members to buy fractional ownership of high-end designer clothing. This season, the collection includes some of the most iconic pieces of the season. There’s the photographed floral motif of sprigged lilies-of-the-valley and four-leaf clovers from Valentino, Gucci’s pleated ruffles and Erdem’s beaded leather shift. Other designers include, Stella McCartney, Marco de Vincenzo, Chloe, Proenza Schouler and many more. (You can see an assortment of items from this season’s collection right here.)

As a member of Couture Collective, you don’t have to make the tough choice of this or that. You can reasonably have access to it all. After paying a nominal membership fee, you can choose your favorite items from the collection and add the item to your virtual closet by paying just 20% of the retail price. The item fee affords you five reservations with the item and unlimited last-minute-wears. There is no charge for pickup and drop off but renters do pay for dry cleaning.

If you only want to wear the item once, pay just 10% of the retail price. That means that the Valentino print you’ve been trying so hard to justify will cost you just $439. We couldn’t think of a better way to curate a closet of uptown sophistication and downtown cool in such an affordable way.

From September 25 to September 30, prospective members can scope out, try on and choose a custom wardrobe. The entire collection will be at the Drawing Room, on the Upper East Side.

The best part is that once you’ve worn all the top fashion from this season you can rest assured that there will be an entirely new collection in March. That’s just six months away to a whole new wardrobe.

Fashion Week Trends Spring ’16: Circle Bags

Fashion week has moved from New York to London but we are seeing many similar trends across the pond. We are rounding out highlights from fashion week. Now you’ll know what to expect on the street and in pages of your favorite fashion magazines next Spring.

Over the past several years we’ve seen fashion focus on the IT-bag and in a metamorphosis of shapes. There was the over sized hobo that led way to the more structured box bag that morphed into the mini-bag. Last season we started seeing designers toy with more round structured bags. For spring ’15 designers from DVF to Marc Jacobs were offering a round option. Next spring, the circle bag trend just gets stronger.

Mansur Gavriel can be credited with starting the bucket bag craze just three years ago and has been spawning wait lists all over the world ever since. For Spring ’16, designers Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel are adding small and large circle bags to their line-up.

Another indi-brand that is growing in popularity, Candamill will be continuing to feature a circle bag to their assortment. The ‘Racer’ is small but features a rose gold shoulder strap that outlines the bag.

Few designers maintain a classic round bag in their collections but MCM and Charlotte Olympia are two places where you can always find the perfect round bag. Scroll below to see a variety of rotund bags that are available now. √

Fashion Week Trends Spring ’16: Ribbons

We are just a few days into fashion week and it doesn’t take long for trends to emerge. We are rounding out the top trends. Expect to see these looks on the street and in pages of your favorite fashion magazines next Spring. Yesterday, we highlighted how shoulders are the new endogenous zone. Today, we take a closer look at how designers are getting strung out on ribbons.

The repeated ribbon and string motif was sprinkled among various shows. The new twist on fringe results in a cleaner and a bit more spare esthetic. You can still feel the throw back to 70s hippie culture but with boho woven through as well. Lets consider it the Tulum effect.

Fashion Week Trends Spring ’16: The Décolletage

We are just a few days into fashion week and it doesn’t take long for trends to emerge. We are rounding out the top trends. Expect to see these looks on the street and in pages of your favorite fashion magazines next Spring.

Forget about the booty and the boobs– shoulders are the new endogenous zone. Many designers have devoted a segment of their collections to showcasing the décolletage. Many times the trend is further punctuated with oversized girly ruffles.
