Moda Operandi and Saks Fifth Avenue Final Discounts

Gone are the days of super February markdowns at the Saks Fifth Avenue consolidation sale. If you’re looking, all the sale merchandise is gone. If you’re still looking for fa-shions at a great discount you need to shop online.

The Mode Operandi Winter discount sale ends Monday and the markdowns are up to 75% off. Over here is an oversized tuxedo jacket by Emilia Wickstead for $446 from $2230, a Mary Katrantzou skirt with flame details is $412 from $2060 and a Pepa Pombo jacket is $224 from $1000.

Among the merchandise not reduced quite so much are these Oscar de la Renta earrings that are a huge rage among the fashion set. They are now $200 from $400 or you can get the Baubble Bar version (like we did) for $38. This Stuart Weitzman Ombre pumps look especially wearable and are $161 from $435.

If you’re still interested in what’s going on at Saks, all the discounted merchandise is online. The markdown is up to 75% off but  remember all sale merchandise is final sale. Alice & Olivia thigh-high boots are just $240 from $800 and this Herve Legar one shoulder dress is just $381 from almost $1600.

It really looks like the best sales are online these days. It’s unfortunate because it takes part of the fun out of shopping. I suppose we can click away online and get dressed up to eat out.

Head Over Heels: Inside Manolo’s Final Markdown

The Manolo Blahnik boutique’s final clearance sale started Monday and we couldn’t wait to scope out the deals. This sale is legendary for the plush discounts that top 75% off. This season, the markdown categories are the same but more shoes are priced less expensively than in prior years.

As usual, the shoes are marked by colored dots that start at $195 and go up to $450 for high leather boots. (Usually, taller and ornate boots are priced at $550.) We are a bit disappointed that there was only one shoe marked with a red dot ($195). The disappointment disappears quickly once you realize that the next category is just $30 more and includes almost every pump from the fall-winter collection. Not too shabby at all.

From simple suede BBs to more stylish and intricate designs, most every non-exotic skin pump is priced at $225. Low and ankle boots are mainly $325 and high and fancier style boots are $450. A small assortment of Satin Hangisi shoes are $275 from $965.

Other stand out items include Pascalare stretchy high boots in navy, black and nude are that are $450 from $1395. (They are $1425 at Bergdorf Goodman.) Sulgamba low suede buckle boots are $325 from $1265 and BB suede pumps are $225 from $595. You can click here or the jump link below to see pictures of what’s available at the sale.

There is also an assortment of alligator slings, pumps and d’Orsay shoes. Most colors are only available in small sizes. Slings and D’orsay styles are $500. Pumps are $800.

We hear there was a bit of a line get into the sale when it started on Monday. Today there was no line and the boutique was very calm with just a few woman browsing and shopping. Several extra sales people were on hand to assist with the higher volume.

Before you go, be sure to be mindful of the hour. The store closes at 2pm to restock and reorganize the merchandise. It’s always a bummer to forget and show up to find locked doors.

The outwear was customized with a variety of vintage patches, hand-applied embroidery, hardware and pins. Right now, you can snag these quintessential fashion item for 50% off. The aforementioned classic varsity jacket is now about $400 from nearly $800.

This officer coat with patches is reduced to $500 from $1000, a sterling lined booties are $190 from $375 and a henna color moto jacket is $747 from $1500.

This Coach collection was received by fashion critics with rave reviews as creative director, Stuart Vevers, drew upon “American optimism.” The show notes that accompanied the collection read, “New York City, the cultural melting pot embraces individuality and welcomes outsiders, regardless of race, gender or personal style. A sense of togetherness, where contradictions and imperfections are respected and celebrated.”

It’s hard to believe that these types of ideals are even more poignant now than they were six months ago. So, go ahead. Celebrate Americana at 50% off. It might help you feel a little bit better.

Neiman Marcus just started a promotion where sale merchandise is discounted an additional 30%. Final discounts on many items are hitting 80% off, which is essentially the deepest discount of the year. The promotion is only two days and ends Tuesday.

Upon browsing, we found this Roland Mouret dress pants that come to $214 from $1230. Yes. That’s exactly 80% off. Right here is a Marco De Vincenzo dress that is discounted the same amount and comes to $900 from $2200.

Over here, we found a Pamella Roland cocktail dress in striking yellow. The discount brings this beauty to just $800 from $4600. Don’t miss this Altuzarra dress with fringe that is $600 from nearly $3500. It’s also hard to argue against getting this parka from Self Portrait that’s $490 from $1165.

Among the shoes, we found lots of styles priced along the lines of what you would find at a super sample sale. Some styles are discounted near 70% with the additional markdown. Among the designer assortment we found these Aquazzura suede boots that are $390 from $1400. Here is a pair of gold boots from Maison Margiela for $261 from $935 and shearling ankle boots from Laurance Dacade are $315 from $1125.

The promotion runs through Tuesday. Neiman Marcus rarely, if ever, offers an additional 30% off final reductions. We suggest you take advantage while the opportunity presents itself– or you’ll be sooooorry.
