    NYFW: 10% Off at Net-A-Porter

It’s day four of New York Fashion Week and even top stylists start running out of outfit ideas. (That’s especially if the outfits are coming out of their own closets.) Net-A-Porter knows the struggle and is offering 10% off almost everything on its site.

Use the code SHOP10 to active the discount, which was only given to top VIP shoppers.

This season, we are noticing a lot of the top fashion girls opting for alternative luxury brand bags. In place of the obvious designer labels, opt for off the radar options like The Volon’s mini cube, Simon Miller’s mini bucket bag and Loewe’s Puzzle bag.

Among footwear we are still seeing a lot of Adidas (boring). There are also lots of interesting shaped mules and boots. We love Malone Souliers suede mules, Off-White’s ‘For Walking’ over-the-knee boots.

If you’re looking for more than an accessory, then you need something long and dramatic. Perhaps something like this Rixo printed print wrap dress worn as a duster or dramatic ruffle and tie tops like this one from Rosie Assouline.

If the Net’s discount still doesn’t fit into your budget, we suggest you register a new email account with TheOutnet and save 20% as a new customer.

Neiman Marcus started an online promotion, today, where many sale items are reduced an extra 25% off bringing the total markdown to 80% off on many past seasons items. The sale is currently private and only for ‘best customers’ so you must use this link to access the additional discounts.

The assortment is comprised of lots of past season merchandise but the designer options are extensive. Here we found a Givenchy print dress for under $650 from $3500,  a sleeveless dress from The Row is $400 from $2150 and our favorite item is this Alexander McQueen British flag plaid blazer that is $830 from $5500. There still hasn’t been any takers on this Mary Katrantzou flame dress, which I love, love, love.

Oh, Oh– this Delpozo star top is just $235 from $1250! Do you think it could be delivered before his fashion show on Wednesday?

Click here to see what else we found.

Over in the shoe department, the discounts aren’t quite as good. These Stella McCartney checker shoes are about as on point as a shoe style can get. After the discount they are $350 but it’s a far cry from the starting price of $1200.  Chloe suede boots are $405 from $1350 and Aquazzura flats are $225 from $750.

This sale is scheduled to go public on Tuesday and is scheduled to only run through Wednesday. We suspect there will also be a bonus day but we don’t expect many of the best items to stick around.
Take note, Neiman Marcus is also hosting a beauty promotion with a big tote filled of premium goodies with a purchase of $125 or more.

New York Fashion Week is officially upon us. If you haven’t had time to get your wardrobe paparazzi ready– you’re not alone. We were in such a closet rut on Wednesday night that we attempted to style a night robe as a dress. Fashion week can be so much stress if you don’t now how to dress.

At the last sale, some shoppers requested more Rockstud merchandise and Global Fashions listened. We got a little preview of the sale and saw some spectacular items including a croc Rockstud tote and assorted color combination shoes. There are even plenty of flats in an assortment of sizes. The best part is that even the most expensive items are affordable when the discounts exceed 70%.

The sale will only run for four days. Every purchase will come with a gift of an iPhone case, iPad case or silk scarf. If you attended the last sale, you know how quickly the best merchandise was gone. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

    Nordstrom End of Summer Sale

You might be sad that Summer is over but Nordstrom is hosting a sale that will give you a way to shop yourself some happiness. A sort through the sale section turned up some interesting finds.

Among the items the reduced 60% is this denim and patchwork Marc Jacobs tote that’s $666 from $999, a Lela Rose fit and flare dress that’s $450 from $1100 and Stuart Weitzman over-the-knee boots are $450 from $800.

Beyond the sale section, it’s definitely worth your time to take a browse through the more cutting edge designer merchandise that Nordstrom has grouped as ‘Space – a shop for emerging and advanced designers’. Check out this print puffer from Hyein Sao, this bell sleeve top from Tejina Pyo and this Roksanda bow sleeve dress. What’s an emerging designer collection without an assortment from Vetements? Yes, there’s a full selection.

Beyond the Vetements, there is truly a lot to keep your eyes on. For now, we are happy with our sale finds. Take note, the sale ends September 10.

    The IT-It: Millennial Yellow

Summer is unofficially over but that doesn’t mean sunshine days are done. This season, you can expect to see bright shades of yellow overtaking the ubiquitous pinkalicious that’s been dominating fashion for several seasons.

The pink spectrum ranged from bright bubble gum to subtle blush. Yellow is also available in assorted variations too. Shades include La-La Land yellow, banana yellow, marigold, butter cream and goes as far as chartreuse.

The optimism of Yellow is especially welcomed in contrast to the usual somber autumnal color palate. Adding zest to your wardrobe is especially easy at Nordstrom, where you can find a great selection of this season’s hottest color. Right this way, is a sunflower yellow Topshop lattice back sweater ($65), mustard yellow Gucci Brixton loafers $630 and here is a dainty Monique Lhuillier garden dress set on a mellow yellow background ($2600). If you don’t have a waterproof raincoat here is a great one in, yes, raincoat yellow.

Yellow doesn’t need to be the outfit headliner. It makes a great supporting color. For instance, this Dries black and white dress comes alive with splashes of bright yellow. This Toga check wool coat has just a hint of yellow but it livens the entire look ($1780). This JW Anderson cable knit sweater ($830) comes alive with the various yellow backgrounds.

As always, online shoppers should take advantage of Nordstrom’s great customer service, which features free shipping and free returns. If only all stores were as easy to shop as Nordstrom.

The IT-Not: 3 of the Most Tired Trends

Labor Day is done and it’s back to business. Back to school means a new shopping season. Before you start buying your Fall wardrobe we wanted to take a moment to review the top trends that are becoming as annoying as Despacito.

Below is a list of three fashion trends that have exceeded their expiration date. Not all of these fashions are a faux pas but you might want to make some modifications to the core fad before making any substantial investment.

    Ruffles

Broad ruffled tops and dresses have become so big that it’s tempting to flick people in the face with their own flounce. The trend was cute when it was first seen on the runway but now it’s become a girl-uniform.

We suggest going against the tide and cutting all ties with ruffles. Go minimalistic. Opt for well tailored. Stand like a lady and set yourself apart from the girls.

    Cargo Jackets with Colored Fur

Hearts skipped a beat when brightly colored fur combined with a military issue cargo jackets hit our photo stream. The twist of novelty and utility was unbelievably attractive. It was only a few short months until those $5000 fur jackets were tweaked into mini-kid versions. The trend went full on cheese-wiz, almost as quickly as it started. It’s time to park that parka!

This season, forget about the military combo and opt for an oversized bright fur. We especially love the versions from DVF, Prada and here is one from Asos for just $174.

    Sweatpants

We still can’t figure out how this trend started. Maybe it was leggings backlash? Perhaps it was conspiracy by the athleisure market?

We’ll never really know but can confidently say, it should never have happened. Sweatpants should be avoided by anyone outside of her teens.

Remember, if a Kardashians does it. You shouldn’t!

    Pre-Labor Day Sales

There are only a few more rays of sunshine left until the unofficial end of Summer uses her claw-like fingers to throw us back into reality. Lucky for us, there are still a few days to catch up on those things we’ve been meaning to do and buy all Summer.

As a personal rule, I like to try and fill in the items that I’ll need for next summer (or vacation) right now, while the prices are low and the discounts are high. The best part is that I am really in touch with what’s missing from and needed for my wardrobe. By the time Summer ’16 rolls around I will be secure in knowing that I have everything I need and won’t feel guilty for indulging in a few new trends and impulse purchases.

Below is a list of some of the most noteworthy pre-labor day sales. Keep checking back as more promotions are added to the list:
