    NOVEMBER SAMPLE SALES ????????????Updated through December

    The calendar has turned to November, which means sample sale shopping will hit a frenetic peak. It’s a good thing because Thanksgiving and holiday parties are right around the corner. There is no better time to start collecting holiday gifts and adding some exciting pieces to your home and wardrobe. 

    Below is a list of what we believe to be the best bargain bonanzas of the month. You can continue to check back here and we will add more sales and commentary.     Global Fashions Friends & Family Sale
    New merchandise and extra markdowns at this multi-designer sample sale, which includes a variety of designers. Highlights include M. Missoni, Naeem Khan, Red Valentino and Badgley Mischka. We spotted a pink Red Valentino dress with scalloped pockets that’s just $120 from $595, a silk dress with a leaf print is $180 from almost $900, a leather dress (above) about $560 from $2795, work boots with a signature bow and heel are also $220 from $900.     Zadig & Voltaire Sample Sale
    The French, contemporary label is holding a large sample sale. Prices usually start off expensive but then get reduced as the sale continues. Last season, the final prices for dresses and jackets were $125, sweaters and scarves ware $50 and pants were $60.

    Jimmy Choo Sample Sale
    The sale opens to the public on Wednesday, November 1 at the Metropolitan Pavillion. To attend the sale you must use this link to RSVP. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter the code CELESTE to receive your email confirmation number. Each indivitual must have a confirmation number to get into the sale. Basic pumps and sandals are usually $200, booties are $325 and boots are $375. Women’s shoes run from size 35 to 41 and men’s go from 43 to 46.

    S’well Sample Sale/Bandier
    It wasn’t until the Swell’s last sample sale was ending that we realized that we needed bottles for camp. In a panic, a friend picked them up for us. We were instantly addicted and Swells have replaced our bottled water habit. Expect to find a large variety of bottles for $10 a piece from about $30. Stock up, after a while, they start to leak and the ones sent to camp picked up a ‘lake smell.’ For $10, you don’t have to feel guilty about replacing them a few times a year.     Phillip Lim Sample Sale
    This sale is always a highlight of the season. Expect bags to fly off the shelves during the first few hours of the sale. At last season’s sale large Pashlis were $300, minis were $200, the 31 Hour tote bag, Soleil bucket bags and Biancas were $200. All other bag styles were $150. All shoes were $100. Shirts were $120 or $150 for embroidered options, pants, jeans and shorts were $75 and dresses ranged from $175 to $450 and outerwear ran for $175 to $500 for leather and fur options.     In an era of mega-produced sample sales it’s nice to enjoy a traditional showroom sale. Yigal provides just that fix. This one day sample sale offers discounts of 80% off true sample sale stock and also offers open stock for highly reduced process. For example, a spring-like cable knit jersey dress will be $139 from $1190, a shearling will be $495 from $2990 and a sleeveless dress will be $139 from $1490.

    La Perla
    We are always looking for sales with true samples. When it comes to lingerie it might be a bit more tricky. (What is a lingerie sample size anyway?) Those not born with the body of a Giselle, can still take advantage of discounts ranging from 80% to 95% off retail. We are told there there will also be bags and a full size range of shoes. Phew!

    Bulgari
    Sometimes it’s great to go big and the Bulgari sample sale happens to be a great resource for big purchases. We suggest going for watches, which can be the perfect combination of sporty and chic. Look for discounts of 60% off. Bulgari bags and glasses are also a big hit but make sure the discounts are reasonable. Lots of people like to stock up on fragrances and give them away as holiday gifts. We don’t judge. Bulgari is Bulgari– no matter where it’s purchased.

    Mont Blanc
    The Mont Blanc sample sale is always a readers’ favorite. Most pens, watches, accessories and jewelry are discounted 50% to 60% off but discounts on less popular items go up to 80% off. The most popular and giftable items tend to go very quickly. Those attending the sale should expect a long line on opening day and shorter lines throughout the term of the sale. For some reason, there is always a wait for Mont Blanc.

    Expect better pricing and a more civilized shopping environment than the Bandier sample sale. Expect to find leggings priced at $40 and most other items will be $25. Those who are beach bound will also be able to shop swimsuits for women and children. At the last sale we scored gorgeous girl’s swimsuits for $25 each. It’s worth the trip.

    Global Fashions Friends & Family Sale Continues

    Due to popular demand, Global Fashions has added additional brands to its friends and family sale. Starting today you can find an assortment of designer clothing, shoes and handbags. Highlights include M. Missoni, Naeem Khan, Red Valentino and Badgley Mischka.

    All clothing is discounted 80% off, shoes and accessories are reduced 75% off their original prices. Most of the merchandise is from Fall/Winter 2016. We spotted a pink Red Valentino dress with scalloped pickets that’s just $120 from $595, a silk dress with a leaf print is $180 from almost $900, a leather dress (above) about $560 from $2795.work boots with a signature bow and heel are also $220 from $900. They also received a new shipment of shoes and lots and lots of boots.  (You can see pictures from inside the sale right here.)

    The sale will run through Wednesday afternoon. There will be fresh deliveries daily. We hear rumors that the existing merchandise could be reduced to 80% off before the sale ends. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

    The Official Jimmy Choo Sample Sale Invite

    Choo, Choo: All aboard who is coming aboard!

    The Jimmy Choo sample sale is about to pull into the sample sale station and if you want to come abroad you must have a confirmed ticket. No worries, we have all the details to get you in and out of the first class cabin.

    The sale opens to the public on Wednesday, November 1 at the Metropolitan Pavillion. To attend the sale you must use this link to RSVP. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter the code CELESTE to receive your email confirmation number. Each indivitual must have a confirmation number to get into the sale.

    For the uninitiated, this sale is legendary for its amazing prices and gigantic mess. Basic pumps and sandals are usually $200, booties are $325 and boots are $375. Women’s shoes run from size 35 to 40 and men’s go from 43 to 46. At the last sale men’s shoes were priced at $250 or $375 and included loafers, Oxfords, driving shoe and ankle boots.(Above are an assortment of Jimmy Choo shoes that can be found for about the same price online.)

    Expect to find shoes piled high and thrown all over the floor. We still can’t figure out who a luxury brand can be so disrespectful to its own merchandise. Even with such discounted prices it can be hard to motivate yourself to even spend $200.

    The wait to get into this sale can be massive but the new RSVP system usually limits the amount of attendees. We suggest that you RSVP right away. We can only assume that the list will close when it hits a certain number of RSVPs.

    Take note, that prices towards the end of the sale are reduced to just $100. That’s when it’s really worth scavenging around the floor for Choos.

    Intermix Fall Clearance Offers 70% Off

    Just in time for the weekend, we found a sale to motivate us to work through Friday. Today, Intermix started a fall clearance sale where discount merchandise is reduced an extra 40% off. The sale includes lots of items that can easily fit into your wear-now wardrobe.

    We found this pretty Derak Lam top that comes to $251 from almost $900, a ruffle sleeve top comes to $90 from $355 and Frame jeans are just $!00 from almost $300. Striped Rag & Bone booties ($215 from about $600) and Lele Sadoughi paved link earrings ($70 from $175) are perfect accessories to make Thanksgiving a bit more festive.

    The sale is online and in stores. The Madison Avenue boutique has some of the sale items listed on the site but we always find that we have better luck Downtown. Overall, shopping online is the easiest but, take note, all sale items aren’t returnable.

    Shopbop’s First Big Markdown

    Online retailers don’t quite run sale season the same way traditional store calendars negotiate markdowns. Shopbop for example, just started what we would consider, the first big round of markdowns. Meanwhile, most products are still full price at nearly everywhere you shop.

    Digging in, we are just nuts for floral prints this Fall and have been collecting casual dresses just like this one from Alice & Olivia, which is now 30% off or $275 from nearly $400. Here is s Tibi top ($262 from $375) that will look great for work with black plants and also works perfectly with jeans for a more casual look. Many Golden Goose sneakers are discounted 30% but sizes are starting to get slim. Even our favorite Tumi suitcase is 30% off.

    Of course, there are the more reduced items from seasons past. Some newcomers in the 70% off area are this Preen dress that’s now $472 from nearly $1500. A Tome sleeveless shirt is $178 from $1600. This Rodarte bomber jacket is a almost affordable for $525 from $1750.

    If the item you’re watching isn’t included in this markdown it is likely to be added in the next sale drop. Usually the site adds another batch of merchandise to its sale during the first week of November.

    Big News: Manolo Sample Sale

    We love Fall in New York– the changing leaves, the Park Avenue mums, and yes, the Manolo Blahnik sample sale. Our sources tell us that this year’s Fall sample sale will open to the public on Wednesday, October 25th. As is tradition, the second floor salon of the Warwick Hotel will be the site of the event.

    This sample sale is a bi-annual highlight for shoe lovers. As you can imagine, the wait time can be worse than a passport agency. We usually prefer the boutique sales even if prices are a bit more expensive. You can read the full report from last season over here. (Those who can’t make it to the sale can shop an assortment of brand new Manolos starting at just $75 from the scroll above.)

    Shoppers who are up for the Manolo sample sale challenge, should expect to take a number and wait, and wait, and wait. The really nice thing about this sale is that you can leave and come back once you get your lucky numbered ticket. Take note, that the sale opens at 11am and will close when inventory begins to run low. In past years, that was at about 3pm to 4pm, which does’t leave a big window for shopping.

    We expect that prices will run along the same lines as last season. Plain shoes, including leather, suede satin, and printed fabric start at $125 ($136 with tax) and go up to $150. Shoes with embellishments like glitter and studs were priced $175. Boots started at $200 for basic versions and went up to $400 for over-the-knee styles.

    Over the past few seasons the assortment has been dwindling. Manolo Blahnik & Co. recently added a fundraising component to their overstock strategy. A sale to benefit Arethusa Farm Scholarship Fund for University of Connecticut Agricultural Studies. A good amount of stock that would show up at the bi-annual sample sale has gone to the, so called, farm.

    At the last sale, by 10am the crowds of VIPs had thinned and the shopping environment was very civilized. Sizes 37.5 to size 39 were already running very thin. The best selection was for sizes 40.5 and up or 36 and below. Doors opened to the public at 11am sharp and the room filled with many more shoppers– many seemed like resellers.

    Remember, the sale is open to the public for only one day. That’s a good indication that there will not be much merchandise. If you attend the sale, please keep us all posted in the comment section below.

    No matter how much we try to hold out for sale season, there are always a few items we need immediately. Considering the weather is going to change soon, it’s now or never if you want to get into fall fashion. Sometimes finding a good gift card promotion could be your best (and only) discount option.

    Bergdorf Goodman is offering online suppers up to $1000 in gift cards. The incentive breakdown is below:

    Spend $500 or more and receive $75
    Spend $1000 or more and receive $150

    The sale is only running one more day, October 23. The best part is that there are hardly any exclusions besides for the likes of Gucci, Balenciaga and Chanel. Qualifying items are indicated in green. Just use the code BGFALL at checkout to automatically receive your electronic gift card.

    Some fashion pieces never seem to go on sale and others we just refuse to wait for. For example, we never got a new down jacket last year and it might be time to update your Moncler. These Off-White bags keep going up in price. Last season they were $900 and now they are up to $1100. Manolo Hangisi flats look better than Gucci loafers and are less “fashion uniform.”

    Once you get started, it’s hard to stop. After all, any incentive is reason enough start the new shopping season.
