UPDATE: The promotion was removed online. (We have our theories why but we will leave that for another day.) I was told that if you call, the discount will still be honored. Xx
Neiman Marcus has gone rogue and surprised with a big Gucci promotion along with their Last Call sale. Right now you can save 25% off several styles of full-priced Gucci shoes or save up to 80% off Last Call designer merchandise.
If you’re not beating the heat poolside, we highly suggest that you Uber to Bergdorf Goodman first thing on Tuesday or click over to now to save an extra 20% off of Summer merchandise. Discounts on clothing already topped 75% and the additional promotion brings the final savings to 80%.
The handbag section online doesn’t have anything worth mentioning, except for this JW Anderson mini bag that’s $340 from $850. Most shoes are limited to one or two sizes for each style. These Givenchy sandals still are available in several sizes and come to $280 from $875, these Manolo sandals are $260 from $875 and Saint Laurent sandals are $286 from $900. (Take note, shoes are going fast. Several pairs already disappeared from when we started writing this post.)
This will be the last markdown of the season at Bergdorfs. The best part is that sale merchandise is returnable. This promotion will run through Tuesday but we all know the best items will be gone in a matter of moments.
Prefall merchandise has arrived and now the race is on to move out the older collections. Moda Operandi is the most recent site to slash prices. Right now, you can save up to 80% off on many major fashion items.
This is the last “hard markdown” at Moda. There will be lots of intermittent promotions where you can save an additional 20%. Moda sales usually runs long after the other stores but they have been closing up shop early. We also noticed a lot of merchandise has moved since the sale first launched. You might not want to hesitate too long.
Next week, Hermés discounts will hit the Garden State. We have official confirmation that the Hermés sample sale will take place at the Short Hills Mall in a temporary storefront, located on the second floor, outside of Neiman Marcus.
We are told that discounts will be 50% off retail prices. Past sales have included scarves, silks, and ties, ready-to-wear, shoes, enamel jewelry, beauty products, fragrances, and homegoods. Frequent sample sale highlights are Oran sandals (many in exotic skins), riding boots, Clic-Clack bracelets, scarves, ties, and twillies.
The Hermes sample sale will open to VIP shoppers on Wednesday, July 24. On Thursday, the sale will open to the public on remain in operation through Sunday. VIP shoppers will be required to show their email confirmation and a corresponding state issued ID. All shoppers will be issued a ticket number and are invited to enter to the store location once their number is called.
To the novice, this system sounds very civilized but shoppers can expect to wait several hours. On the bright side, within the Mall area, there is the Short Hills Hilton that has a very nice pool. Rates during the sale are about $175 a night. Even if you don’t plan to stay overnight, we highly suggest that you book a room and enjoy the pool area while you wait.
Keep in mind, purchases made at a Hermes sample sale do not come with boxes. All items are marked with the letter “s” symbolizing that they were purchased at a sale. You can click here to see our overview from the Hermes sample sale in Manhasset in October 2018. Here is a post from when the sale was hosted at Soiffer Haskin in 2010. Here are more insights from 2012 and 2015.
While reading about past sales, you will notice a common theme of despair and disappointment. I tend to avoid these types of large-crowd attracting sales. Even at 50% off, a Hermes purchase is expensive. I would prefer to pay the full price and buy what I truly love in a civilized environment.
We will be sure to keep this post updated as more information, stock details and photos are released. Let me know if you agree with my sample sale perspectives and feel free to leave comments below or in our Instagram post. Tips are always welcome.
Hermes Sample Sale
VIP: Wednesday, July 24 from 2pm-6pm
Public shopping: Thursday, July 25
Thurs to Sat 10am-6pm, Sun 11am-5pm
Short Hills Mall, 2nd Floor (Outside Neiman Marcus)
Neiman Marcus is now offering discounts up to 80% when you take an extra 30% off designer clothing, shoes and bags. This promotion started early access today and is available in stores and online. You can use this link to start shopping the sale now.
The shoe section has already been obliterated. There are some nice styles but in most cases only one size is available. There are only three handbag options available and none are even worth mentioning,
The clothing section has some finds, but again, sizing is difficult. There is this Brock collection floral print top for $290 from nearly $1700. Here is a silk beach robe that’s basically one-size-fits-all and it’s $220 from nearly $1300. (I can assure you it has to be nicer than the one from Rachel Zoe’s “fashion box.”)
Don’t get so preoccupied by the merchandise that’s an extra 30% off because you may really luck out out in the standard clearance section. Here is a Moncler jacket for $825 from $1650, which should really be screen shot for the next sales person that tells you Moncler doesn’t go on sale. There is actually an abundance of Moncler discount options right over here.
The nice thing about this sale is that all merchandise is returnable– even the extra 30% off options. The ability to try different items makes the risk nominal and the upside high. This promotion only runs through Wednesday. Next up, Bergdorf Goodman has some exciting incentives.
This week was huge for additional discount promotions. We saw both Net-A-Porter and MatchesFashion offer promotions of an additional 20% off sale prices. Most of the highly reduced bags and shoes are already sold out but it’s the perfect time to pick up a few pieces of fashion to take you through the end of the Summer.
Nordstrom also started it’s Anniversary Sale. You can click here to see our shopping edit. I always like to use this sale to buy the kids a few items for back-to-school, like sneakers and backpacks.
So far this weekend, I fell upon a few great Gucci pieces from Kirna Zabete. I am crazy about the beach bag I picked up from 24S.com and can’t get over shipping box and presentation. I can’t wait to get something new from them to open the box again. You can use the code 20More to save an extra 20%, which is just another excuse to buy more.
Below is a compilation of a few of my favorite sale things. I will be sure to update this post as I scroll uncover more impulse purchases.
Nordstrom is known for having great sales. There are two in particular that can send a city girl shopping in the burbs: The “Half-Yearly Sale” and the “Anniversary Sale.” The Half-Yearly sale is clearance, usually towards the end of the season. (Like, now.) The Anniversary Sale is a presale before the new collection hits the department store floor.
Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale starts today. The sale consists of a catalog of pre-Fall merchandise that is discounted 25% to 40% off. Each department has its own special items that are featured in the pre-Fall sale. You can sift through the catalog options right here.
The presale runs to July 18 but is limited to customers who have a Nordstrom credit card. Afterward, on July 20, the sale opens to the general public. Prices return to normal once the sale ends in August.
Back-to-school items are especially attractive during this Nordies sale. For example, you know your kids want new Adidas sneakers for the start of school and they are right here for $36 from $60. Nike kicks are $45 from $65. (There is really no reason not to get them!) Over here is a Champion backpack for $47, which is normally $70. There is also a large amount of cute shorts in case you need to do a mid-season refresh. We even spotted Stokke Xplorer that’s discounted to $785.
We are a bit choosier when picking pre-season items for ourselves but a classic Veronica Beard tweed blazer is $435 from $650. We really like this Tibi faux python skirt that’s $280 from $242 and this blazer resembles the shape of a Balmain blazer but it’s under $400. is just and I really don’t mind these tweed style pumps for about $100. We even found a S’well for $22.
The selection this season isn’t quite as good as last year but there is still a lot of temptation. It’s interesting that designers have realized that pre-gaming sale season is better than post-season markdowns. Don’t forget to also check out the beauty deals. We are always a sucker for a new shade of lipstick or an updated nail polish
The pressure is on online luxury retailers and MatchesFashion is the most recent site to add a little promotion to their final markdown. Starting today, you can save an additional 20% off fall and winter merchandise, which has already been reduced up to 70% off. Use the code EXTRA20 at checkout to reveal the discounted price.
Here is a Balmain blazer that comes to $900 from $1885. (I always say, under $1000 is the right price for this item.) This neutral color Staud bag is $530 from $1100 and this Saint Laurent studded bucket bag is $580 from $1200. This Roksanda bag for $400 from $1000 seems like a sensible purchase.
At this point of the season, most of my “investment” purchases have been made and I’m shopping for some more “inexpensive thrills.” Here is a Dodo Bar Or top that’s a sustainable purchase at just $100 from $252. Here is the matching skirt. It’s actually an adorable outfit for about $180. This white dress from Sea is about $270 from $560 and this Roksanda dress for $650 from $2000 is a keeper.
Usually, the most reduced items are from prior seasons but that doesn’t seem to be the case. There is really a good selection from which to shop if you’re still looking to boost your wardrobe through the end of the Summer.
