This week I read a staggering statistic: Nearly 1 in 3 new stores opening in the US this year is a Dollar General. Of the 3,597 store openings, about 45% are Dollar General, Dollar Tree, and Family Dollar, according to the latest figures from Coresight Research.
There is no doubt that Dollar General won’t be opening any stores on Madison Avenue but in some ways, it’s a shame. Madison Avenue has a drought of stores that actually service the community. As storefronts remain vacant, it might be high time that landlords reimagine the current business structure and seek out tenants that are in accelerated growth mode. After all, so many New York real estate families started in retail. It might be high time they return to their roots.
Speaking of shopping and retail. You might be able to score big at Coltorti. You can use the code LYST15 to save 15% off any item that’s accompanied by a star. Check out the Golden Goose, Fendi, and Bottega Veneta. Again, there are no duties or taxes and most items are priced under US retail, which significantly adds to the savings.
LuisaViaRoma is offering 20% off a selection of Spring merchandise. You can use this link to
access all of the items included in the promotion. At checkout, use the code MM20 to engage the savings. Take note, not all items are included in the promotion but you can see the full details here.

Looking forward, SSense will begin it’s big first markdown this week. It will be a private sale, which means it will only be available to customers who spend over a predetermined amount. It might be a good idea to inquire now, if you’re unsure of your customer status.
Stay tuned. Until next time… same time, same place?
