I know we are all excitedly awaiting the final markdown at the Manolo Blahnik boutique. Although we don’t have an official markdown date, I do have exciting news that includes a bucolic drive into the Connecticut countryside and discounted Manolos.
The Litchfield Fire Department will be hosting a Manolo Charity sale on Saturday, August 17. At prior charity sales prices started at $150 and the selection included a full range of sizes and a variety of styles among summer and winter collections.
Litchfield, CT is about 2.5 hours from Manhattan. That means this sale-ing will require a bit of a road trip. If leaving ‘the Island’ is out of the question, there are a few suggestions for heavily discounted Manolos in the above scroll.

It’s no secret that Intermix is having a hard time chugging along. It’s harder for smaller retailers who buy smaller quantities to get top picks from designer collections. Most of the big department stores get exclusives on the best items.
Intermix just can’t compete on that level. As a matter of fact, it has lost a lot of designer brands like Saint Laurent and Fendi. There are only so many times you can sell the same woman on Rockstuds. It’s best to focus on the fashion at Intermix. They happen to pull a really wearable edit.
One way, Intermix is standing out is with its deep discounts. Right now you can save an extra 50% off a large assortment of already reduced merchandise. The additional discount brings the total savings to 85% off. The sale is in stores and online. The online selection is good but some of the better designer options like Pucci, Stella, Proenza, and Antonio Barardi can be found at stores.
While browsing online, I spotted one of my favorite dresses of the season from David Koma. It’s a little back shift dress with a colored mirrored skirt that comes to $460 from almost $1200. I just imagine it paired with a pink metallic shoe from Saint Laurent or a brightly colored embellished satin slingback from Amina Muaddi. It’s really a great shoe-dress.
This extra 50% off promotion ends on August 2. There are usually even deeper promotional discounts –an extra 60% off and even an extra 75% off. As you can imagine the nicest designer merchandise is always the first to go and don’t always make it to the end.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale only runs less than a week. Procrastinating shoppers can rejoice that the site has been restocked with some of the most popular items. Below is a compilation of some of the early sell-outs that are now, again, available. Remember, prices go up when the sale ends August 4!
Florentine online store, Luisaviaroma is offering an extra 25% off sale items. Discounts on much of the sale selection already range up to 60% off and the extra promotion brings the total savings to 70% on some items. Use the code EX25 to engage the additional discount at checkout.
Luisaviaroma offers incredible customer services. As a matter of fact, we placed an order at 11am in NYC and received it at 3pm the next day. That’s even better than Amazon Prime!
Sale season is winding down and prices at retailers have hit rock bottom. This is the last week of Net-A-Porter’s sale and Farfetch is offering an extra 20% off with the code JULY20. You can also save an additional 20% off on sale items on Fivestory with the code FINALSALE.
This week we’ve been a little obsessed with Hermes and started tolling vintage pieces. As happens when you shop online, I stumbled upon some other goodies. I found this Chanel coat that’s just $1150.
Below is a compilation of a few of my favorite sale things. I will be sure to update this post as I scroll uncover more impulse purchases.
If you’ve been staking something special in Net-A-Porter’s sale section, now would be the time to close out your cart. This is the last weekend of sale and the entire section will be removed on Tuesday, June 30.
The discounts are up to 80% off. Most items aren’t reduced to that extreme but other items include a promotional discount of an additional 20% off. Most items are low in stock and there aren’t a lot of size variables, That being said, there is still two months of Summer.
The Hermés sample sale, at Short Hills Mall, kicked off to a small number of invited guests, on Wednesday afternoon. The sale opens to the public Thursday morning and is expected to draw huge crowds.
Wednesday’s VIP invites were limited to about 100 shoppers who were admitted to the sale at 2pm. Once the sale opens to the public on Thursday morning, the crowd is guaranteed to swell. This particular Hermes sale will be run a little bit differently than prior East Coast Hermes sales. There will be no tickets issued. Each person will have to wait in line until it’s their turn to enter the sale space.
Today’s VIP shoppers say that the sale was very good. Discounts are 50% off most items. Men’s clothing is 60% off. There are several canvas beach bags ($1000)and canvas cosmetic cases in assorted bright colors and prints. The sale also contains beach towels ($290), throw pillows and blankets– “the thinner solid ones.” (We have some pictures here and will continue to add more as they are received.)
Shoppers will also report silk scarves, Maxi-Twillies ($167) and ties, hats and leather gloves for men and women, two-piece bathing suits and men’s swim trunks for $186. Ties are $98 and 90cm scarves are $208. As we initially reported, there are no jewelry, leather goods or belts.
In the shoe section, we are told that there is an abundance of men’s options. For women, there are many brown jumping boots ($1312) and Oran sandals. The best assortment is in size 38 and 38.5. The selection was smaller for the 37 and 37.5 options. There are lots of small shoe size options.
Orans can be found in ostrich, various colors of patent leather, two-tone, black leather with tiny logo studs and a few in orange/red and coral/gold. A pair in black leather with rhinestone trim is reduced to about $890 from $1775. There are mid-heel Oran sandals in multi-colors of suede, Epsom, Solaris, and blue/Bordeaux. There is also bright red/orange and pale blue lizard.
Shoppers also reported lots of Corfu-style sandals, which are flat with skinny criss-cross straps and CDC-style hardware. There are lots leaf sandals, some Rivage Jellies, and canvas wedges–printed and solid.
Among the housewares, our spies spotted a few blankets, which could be found behind the silks counter. Embroidered blankets were about $1400. There are no Avalon styles or H-logo prints. The overall housewares selection is described as “small.” Options include lacquered boxes and trays and a few porcelain styles.
In order to limit hoarding and reselling, there are some shopping limits. Only two shawls per customer and five scarves, five men’s ties, five women’s shoes and two men’s shoes– but only one Night 70, Night 90, Oasis, Oran, Legend and jumping styles
An employee for Taubman, which owns and manages the Short Hills Mall, said shoppers will be permitted to begin lining up outside the mall, near Legal Seafood, at 9am, Thursday morning. Cars will not be permitted onto the mall property until 8:30am. “You can sit in your car for a little bit, and make your way to the line at 8:50, and begin officially standing in line at 9am,” she said. There will be police patrolling the mall property at all times. Anyone who attempts to cue for the sale before the allotted time will be asked to leave the property and arrested if they don’t comply, she warned. “This isn’t the first big event we’ve had at the mall. There is an Apple store at the mall that does big launches all the time. We know how this is done,” said our advisor. The last East Coast Hermes sale was hosted at Americana Manhasset. Attendees reported waiting for over 8 hours and still not gaining admittance.
Keep in mind, purchases made at a Hermes sample sale do not come with boxes. All items are marked with the letter “s” symbolizing that they were purchased at a sale. You can click here to see our overview from the Hermes sample sale in Manhasset in October 2018. Here is a post from when the sale was hosted at Soiffer Haskin in 2010. Here are more insights from 2012 and 2015.
No pictures will be permitted at the sale but we will have a team of spies reporting live from the sale. Feel free to send tips, leave comments and follow along on Instagram. You can use the tag #Hermessale2019 to crowdsource information.

Take note, that this new markdown puts the assortment in final sale territory. Make sure you know what you’re buying. On the bright side, there is a gift card promotion, which will earn you about 10% back for future spending. You can use the code JULY19SF to engage the gift card promotion.
