Designer Discount Store Closes: Most Over 90% Off

New pop-up boutiques make news opening all the time but there is rarely a closing that is noteworthy. Luxury 9, which opened in a temporary space near Grand Central, last year, is closing and hosting an extreme merchandise clearance sale. Most designer items are priced over 90% off retail.

A vast majority of the inventory consists of clothing from top designers like Valentino, Versace, Preen, Rocksanda, Matthew Williamson, Aquazzura, Acne and so many more. All clothing is basically priced by category. Dresses are $75, pants are $25, tops are $50 and gowns are $150.

We found a Preen lace dress that originally sold for $2250 that was, yes, just $75. (You can see pictures from our shopping trip here.) A  Roksanda coral and blue top is priced at $50 from $1175 and an MSGM crochet appliqué skirt was absolutely worth the $35 from $280.

Among the shoes we found lots of Jimmy Choo moto boots reduced to just $100 and Celine sunglasses are $130. There is also an assortment of Celine and Prada bags significantly discounted. We saw a Celine python skin Phantom for $2200 from a retail price of $6200.

The liquidation sale also includes Versace men’s suits that are priced at $199 and shirts are $60. Retail prices normally run at about $2500 for suits and $900 for shirts. If you don’t see the size you need, let a sales person know.

The store will officially close at the end of the month. There will be intermittent restocking. We suggest you go early and go often before this midtown gem is gone.

Alert: Net-A-Porter Final Clearance Extra 20%

This is what end-of-season shoppers call the final bow. Net-A-Porter is ending their season by offering an extra 20% off some sale merchandise. The sale kicks off on Tuesday.

To engage the additional discount enter SALE20 at checkout. Take note, the promotion can only be used on items that are identified “Sale Must Have.” Once you use the extra 20% the items become final sale, which means it can’t be returned.

We don’t know what exactly what items will be included in the extra markdown but last year Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Veneta, Lanvin and Fendi were included. We will be sure to add item pictures  once the sale is officially live.

This promotion is usually a shopping frenzy. We suggest you start adding items to your cart now and then remove the non-applicable merchandise once the promotion code is live.

This sale will run through February 2. Take note, next time you see these items they will be on the Outnet and prices will be higher.

Holiday Weekend Sales: Bergdorf’s, Neimen’s, Barneys & Bloomies

It’s official, retail sales from the holiday season were dismal and retailers are ready to move on to the next season. This weekend is a big transition time for department stores. Shipments of resort and spring merchandise are arriving and it’s always preferable to sell full priced inventory.

Accordingly, there are some major markdown promotions this holiday weekend. Below are the highlights of what’s going on at our local department stores.

    Bergdorf Goodman
Starting Friday, Bergdorf Goodman will be offering an addition discount of 25% on merchandise that is already discounted up to 75%. Shoes and bags are currently reduced 50% and the extra promotion brings the final markdown to about 65% off. The grand savings on clothing is a whooping 83%. We strongly suggest you do a pass through Bergdorf’s before shopping anywhere else.

    Neiman Marcus
On Sunday, Neiman Marcus will begin offering customers an extra 20% off sale merchandise. The discounts on some items already top 70%. Shoes and bags are currently reduced 50% and the extra discount brings the final markdown to about 60% off. The online selection is starting to run low but we are sure that stores in the burbs are still well stocked.

    Saks
We haven’t given a lot of attention to Saks Fifth Avenue lately. Once the retailer discounts merchandise 60% off or more, returns are not allowed. These no backsies rule makes it very hard to pull the trigger on high-end luxury merchandise. If you’re sure of what you’re buying you can currently save 60% off shoes and handbags and 70% off clothing. The traditional consolidation sale has become inconsistent over the years. We will be sure to keep our eyes open.

    Barneys
Over at Barneys, the additional 20% off promotion just ended. To make matters worse, the discount on shoes is now just 40%, where it was 60% for some time. If you’re at Barneys, hit the clothing racks where the discount is 75% off. We are waiting for the big markdown on outerwear to begin. The discounts on Moncler usually start at 40% off and then quickly dip from there.

    Bloomingdales
As usual, the markdowns at Bloomingdales vary wildly. We’ve seen the discount range from 20% to 75% off.  Among the contemporary designers like,  Alice & Olivia and Make, the discounts range from 30% to 75%. It’s hard to follow and, frankly, irritating. One tip we can offer is to download the Bloomingdales app, where you can scan ticket barcodes and get the current price. The app really changes the whole shopping experience.

The IT's-Not: Three Trends Must Die in 2017

Every season there is a fresh crop of fashion shapes, the-newest-shade-of-black and a fad-of-the-moment. The newness is always exciting but it always means that other trends must reach their expiration date. There are three trends that we are really looking forward to expiring. In reality, it will probably take some more time until the fashion universe completely tires but the clock is ticking.

    Chokers
The choker is the biggest jewelry trend since the ear cuff. We’ve recently witnessed the introduction of the men’s version and Matt Lauer sporting the look on the Today Show. It’s enough. Instead opt for longer chains that drape and offer a more delicate effect. If all else fails, we are happy to go back to the ear cuff or just knock a few more holes in the ear.

    Vetements

Yes, the DHL sweatshirts were amusing but the best thing about Vetements are the debates it sparks within the fashion community. It’s been year of twitter fodder. Vetements offers a low-brow aesthetic at an extravagant price point. We cannot fathom justifying any such type of purchase. It’s an ironic joke where some of the most ‘stylish’ are the subject. We are tired of the conversation. We are tired of the joke. It’s not so funny. It’s not so cool. Lets move on. If you love the casual esthetic of streetwear opt for something more affordable and truly cool: Off-White.

    Emojis, Patches and Monsters

Fashion has become so sweet that you can feel diabetes coming on. We’ve done the emojis, the patches and the monster faces. It’s no longer novel, exciting or so cute (if you’re over the age four). They had a long run but it’s time to move on. This season we prefer a much more subtle personality. A bright piping accent or twisted and braided handbag handles seem to hit the right tone. We are especially fund of Elena Ghisellini’s designs that seem a lot more reasonable in a era where almost everything has become a joke.

Bergdorf Goodman to Add Extra 25% Off for MLK (50+ Pics)

Through the holiday weekend Bergdorf Goodman will be offering customers an extra 25% off merchandise that has already been discounted 75%. According to our inside sources the discount will begin on Friday and run through Monday.

We couldn’t help from getting a jump on the big promotion weekend and scoped out what’s still left at the Lavender Lady. Handbags and shoes are currently discounted 50%. The sale selection of bags can be found at the entrance on Fifth Avenue, closest to 58th Street.

We found a Valentino Rockstud bag in pink with a triangle print (like this with a different print) that was $2975 and will be discounted to $1200. The Tom Ford Samantha bag, which is even heavier than a Birkin bag, will come to about $1100 from $2750 and an Anya Hindmarch Space Invader handbag will be $985 from $2350. (Check out more pictures and pricing this way.)

Heading to the shoe department, we were focused on scoping out the items that are hard to find online:  Celine, Louboutin and Chanel. Among the Chanel variety we found quilted mules that will be reduced to $360 from $925, high boots with a tweed upper and laced middle will be about $800 from $1950, white quilted calf-high boots with a black toe will be $560 from $1400 and gold loafers will come to $341 from $850. Among the Louboutins are black patent pumps with a big red heart that will be $320 from $800 and studded wedge sandals are the same price. Among the Celine shoes we found a white pointy toe variety with rivets will come to $480 from $1200. (More pictures can be found in the jump.)

If you head upstairs to the fourth floor, you will find the best discounts. Clothing is already reduced 75% and an additional 25% off will bring the grand total to 82% off retail. A Delpozo orange dress will tally to $332 from $1650, a Valentino skirt with a south-western print will be $360 from $1790 and a Fendi blazer with floral details will be about $530 from $2650. (You got it, we have pictures and prices of items here.)

This sale only lasts through Monday and there usually isn’t a follow up discount like this in stores. The additional promotions are usually reserved for online shopping. Too bad the selection isn’t as good.

    Net-A-Porter Clearance 80% Off

The Net-a-Porter clearance sale kicked off today and many items have been reduced to 80% off. This third markdown is usually a shopping frenzy and the best items disappear rather quickly.

There is quite a bit of clothing reduced to 80% off retail but a lot of it appears to be from the past Summer season. This can workout well if you’re socking up on what to bring on your next vacation. Among items you can wear now (in freezing New York) is this Erdem velvet trimmed dress that’s $1170 from $5890, a marigold Isabel Marant cable knit sweater is $236 from nearly $800 and a funky print Moschino skirt is just $79 from $400.

If you’re shopping for an upcoming vacation get ready to make some tough choices. We love this Dodo Bar Or crepe top that’s $84 from $420, a classic Norma Kamali ruched one piece is $70 from $350 and a striped Moschino dress is $135 from $675.

Among the shoes discounted 80% you’ll find black and white Dorateymur low boots that are $122 from $610 and Francesco Russo lace up boots that are $390 from $2000. At 70% off these tall Gianvito Rossi shearling trimmed boots are a good deal for $570 from $1900. Velvet Etro Mary Jane pumps are $282 from $950 and Nicholas Kirkwood pumps with a pearl platform are $300 from $1000.

We sincerely suggest you hop on the site as soon as humanly possible. Even while creating this post items were disappearing. Don’t forget, we mainly focused on merchandise at 80% off. There’s a huge amount of product that is discounted 70%. Happy shopping and please feel free to share your conquests in the comment section below.

Barneys Extra 20% Off Coats, Shoes & Bags

Luxury retail stores are feeling the pressure to make room for the new cruise collections. In doing so, extra discounts promotions are being used to entice shoppers to ‘buy more stuff.’ Right now, Barneys is offering an extra 20% off already reduced coats, shoes and bags.

Over this way, we found a Mr. & Mrs. Italy fur parka that comes to $3700 after the additional discount (originally $9260) and a Masscob cropped peacoat comes to $239 from $600. Among the bags, there is a red Lanvin Jiji shoulder bag that’s $950 from nearly $2000 and an Altuzarra white hobo (perfect for vacation or Summer) is marked down to $927 from $2900.

The shoe selection has a lot more options. Maison Margiela metal heel low boots are $471 from $1480 and Manolo BB pumps are about $220 from $700. The assortment in the store is even larger and the extra discount also applies to Chanel and Louboutin. There was even an ugly Chanel shoe siting where the final price was 80% off retail.

We don’t know how long the markdown will last but we can’t imagine it will be for very long. Barneys usually ships out its winter Merchandise before February.

    Cruise 80% Off at Intermix

Now that it’s really cold we can’t stop thinking about getting away to someplace warm. Okay, we admit, the trip is already booked and we are counting down the days. In less general terms that means we are stocking up on what to pack.

As is always, nothing from last Summer seems sufficient. For that reason, we have been stalking the sales racks for clothing to take on vacation. Even if it’s from last season, we are happy if it’s new.

We found the best selection at Intermix where the discount is topping 80% off.

Sure, we’ll take this Rag & Bone straw fedora that’s $79 from $225. A romper for $69 from $400–why not? Polka dot shorts can’t be that bad especially when they are $50 from $235. Definitely grab this Self Portrait dress for $190 from $510.

See, with just a few pieces it feels like an entirely new wardrobe. Now, you have even more for which to look forward.
