Worthy Sample Sales: Bulgari, Yigal and More

It’s been a few weeks since there’s been a sample sale worth mentioning. Lucky for us, spring break is over and sample sale shopping can resume. Below is a carefully curated selection of our favorite upcoming sample sales.

    Bulgari
Bulgari is opening the vault and offering their treasured jewelry at significant discounts. The sale will include jewelry, watches, accessories, handbags, sunglasses, fragrances and beauty items. Beware, this sale attracts lots of shoppers and lines can span over three hours on the first day. Shoppers can expect to find leather goods discounted about 70% off, which comes to about $500 to $700. The markdowns on jewelry and watches range from 50% to 60% off. During past sales, we noticed that much of the jewels and timepieces were discontinued designs. We would be rather surprised if you were able to snag a current Serpenti watch. During the last sale sunglasses ranged in price from $150 to $200 and wallets were about $100.

    Yigal Azrouël & Cut25
This is always one of our favorite sample sales of the season. We love the wearable and sexy clothing that is stylish but still classic. At the last sample sale all Yigal samples were priced at $60 and Cut25 samples were $40. Leather Cut25 samples were $90 and Yigal leather samples were $125. You can click here to see full pricing and inventory details from last season’s sale.

    Scotch & Soda
We aren’t big fans of Scotch & Soda for ourselves but it’s great for men. The sample sale will provide discounts up to 70% off. At the last sale shoppers snagged tanks for $15, jeans for $50, and blazers for $100. Prices for clothing start at $15 for a tank and go up to $150 for leather goods.

Tuesday, April 22 through Sunday, April 27

    Sweaty Betty 20% Off

We will always have an affinity for Lululemon but their sketchy sale practices and strange color combinations have us looking for athletic alternatives. If you’re in the same boat, this would be the perfect time to give the Sweaty Betty a run around the block.

The UK-based company, which has stores in Soho and CT, is offering customers 20% off from now until April 21. The promotion is also available online. Prices  for Sweaty Betty fall between Lululemon and Michi NY, with workout capris ranging from $60–$110 and tanks $30–$88. The focus is on gearing up for all types of sweat– ranging from yoga to running, ski to beach, gym wear to tennis.

Despite cool cloths and interesting style we still think it’s best to keep your athletic clothing for Soul Cycle and Core Fusion. After all, you have a closet full of clothing dying for attention.

    Soigne K 75% Off

Soigne K opened on Madison Avenue about four years ago and has remained devoted to designers from India and modern takes on the traditional sari. While shopping the specialized boutique, we always find unique and colorful fashion that is wonderful for adding an authentic jolt of unique to your wardrobe.

Of course, we also love the store’s markdowns. Right now, the boutique is offering shoppers up to 75% off retail prices. All of the sale items are located in the upstairs level of the boutique. There you will find an assortment of fabulous clothing, outerwear, bags and jewelry. There is even a rack of items that are perfect as Monaco-fabulous coverups.

Some of our favorite pieces include a white coat with black brocade that’s priced at $2000 from $4000 and a classic silk white blouse that’s $90 from $250. A jacket by Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna is perfect for transitional weather and is a great fashion item for $325 from $850.

If you head over the the boutique’s online store you will find some of the same items and a few extras too. Check out this Rinku Dalamal printed hi-lo dress that’s $75 from $275 and these red onyx earrings that are $100 from $250.

Our philosophy on Indian-inspired clothing is: when in doubt, wear it to the beach!

    Saks Friends and Family

The Saks Fifth Avenue Friends & Family sale is scheduled to start on Saturday, April 19 and run until April 28. We hear that sales associates have already started preselling merchandise in the store. Online shoppers can use the code FRNFAM at checkout.

The very loosely defined friends and family sale will be 25% off clothing, shoes and accessories. The discount on jewelry is 20% off. Every season this promotion becomes more popular and the list of brand exclusions get longer. We will post the list of exclusions when it becomes available.

We usually like to use the discount to shop for items already on sale.  This Sachin + Babi dress will come to about $140 from $450 and this colorful DVF snakeskin print top will come to about $60 from almost $200. That’s really not too far off from a sample sale price.

    Shopbop Friends & Family Now

The Shopbop friends and family is scheduled to begin at 7:30am, on Tuesday. The discount is 25% off  site-wide. We suggest you log on early. The site actually crashed during the last friends and family because of all the traffic.

As with most of these types of promotional sales, some of the most upscale designer brands are excluded.  You can click on the jump to see a full list of exclusions.

In the meantime, we suggest you start your shopping in the 60% off department and work your way back. (Merchandise discounted 70% is final sale, and we tend to avoid online shopping if backsies are not allowed.) Don’t forget, summer is around the corner and are plotting to stack dozens of colorful bracelets up the arm all season long.

3.1 Phillip Lim, A.P.C., Acne, Alexander Wang, Aurelie Bidermann, Canada Goose, Cedric Charlier, Creatures of the Wind, Tabitha Simmons for Creatures of the Wind, Gareth Pugh, Giambattista Valli, J. Hervé Léger 80% Off

The cherry blossoms in Central Park are starting to bloom, which means it’s officially spring. Time to shed the bulk and slink into something a bit, ahem, more body conscious. How about a classic Hervé Léger for a great price?

Designer discounter, Amuze just launched their Hervé Léger sale where the designer’s feminine and glamours dresses are reduced up to 70% off. We suggest you jump on this sale right away because inventory is very slim. While you’re shopping, be sure to check out the site’s other great designer sales. The site has some gorgeous Oscar de la Renta and Marni clothing, shoes, bags and accessories reduced 80%.

The site also has daily designer deals where one item is reduced a ridiculous amount. Past daily deals have ranged from Tom Ford shoes to YSL bags and Alexander Mcqueen clutches. Many times, items are reduced 90% off the retail price.

The best part is that all the items on the site are always authentic and brand new. Use the code madavespy for free shipping. It’s addictive, don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Chanel Shoes 50% Off at Bloomingdales

Although it’s a bit late in the season to be shopping for cold weather fashion, we will always welcome Chanel when it’s on sale. Right now, the Bloomingdales on 59th Street has a small assortment of Chanel shoes reduced 50% off.

Among the sale items are thigh-high boots (no chains) reduced to about $1600 from $3275 and low boots with blue died pony hair are $1175 from $2350. There is also gray lace-up booties that are now $750 from $1500 and basic flats for $400 from $795. Outside the Chanel selection these are lots of other past season shoes with significant markdowns. Black Fendi booties are $450 from $900, Prada flats fare $350 from $690 and Gucci pumps are $200 from $540. You can click on the jump page to see a pictures of our shoe scout.

Rebecca Taylor Friends & Family Sale

Rebecca Taylor is hosting a friends and family sale where all merchandise is 25% off. The sale runs through Monday and can be used online with the code RTSPRINGFF14.

One of our favorite pieces in the summer collection is a cap sleeve dress with lace incerts and nail heads. The weekend promotion will save you about $150 off the $600 price tag. If you’re looking for something more affordable, check out the sale section. A leather tee with grommets comes to $292 from $650, a piped cap-sleeve dress is $178 from almost $400 and a blouse with floral sheer inverts is $125 from $275.

It’s always great to use these friends and family sales to snag an item you’ve been eyeing. Just remember that this is hardly a first markdown. The promotion is much better used on items already on sale.
