Get Your Chanel Polish at Costco

We spend a lot of time talking about how much the price of shoes have gone up, the inflation on designer handbags and even the price hikes of a little black dress. The same is very true for cosmetics.

Did you realize that the retail price of a Chanel nail polish was $19 in 2007. Today, the retail price is $27 and we won’t be surprised if it hits $30 very soon. (Sorry, we shouldn’t make statements like that.)

We know just the place to buy your Chanel polish if you’re roll back to 2007 prices. Costco! Yes, the Harlem Costco has a variety of Chanel polishes for $19. The best part is that the selection includes some very nice colors.

    The four colors:

    • Particuliere– one of those interesting Chanel colors that is greyish brown face-on but flashes purple in certain light
    • April– launched in 2012 and is truly a perfect berry color. It’s not too pink but is feminine and appropriately bright.
    • Ballerina– the most classic of nude-pink
    • Frenzy– his color quickly sold out when launched and has remained popular ever since. The pigment is a muted gray with notes of lilac.

Although there seems to be a lot of inventory on these nail lacquers, we don’t think that they will become a Costco staple. At least you now have something to look forward to when making your next run for birthday cake that feeds 48 and your 15 count of jumbo double-ply paper towel.

Tory Burch Private Sale 70% Off

Tory Burch is hosting a private sale where discounts on past season merchandise are discounted up to 40% off. The sale started today and runs through Monday, March 24. To access the sale, you must use this link.

A highlight of Tory’s winter collection were the botanical prints. The Dayton Jacket ($165 from $550) and pants ($159 from $359) are perfect to wear as the seasons are still in transition. We are also a big fan of this embellished sweater that’s $159 from $450 and this Hermes-esque silk and wool cardigan that’s $169 from $325. Classic Riva’s ($499 from $235) are also included in the sale.

Go ahead. Click around. You might find you’re not totally ready for Spring.

Are You Ready for Birkenstock Chic?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and there is no draught of ugly shoes in the fashion world. Can you think of any footwear uglier than Uggs? Who decided that clogs were acceptable outside of Amsterdam? Crocs, ahem! The list goes on and on. This season, the fashion set is focusing on Birkenstocks.

Birks have captured the love of fashionistas everywhere. It’s up to you to decide if this is a trend you want to walk in but we promise to not pass any judgement. (Well, we can only promise to try.) Top designers such as Celine, Stuart Weitzman, Givenchy, Dior and Isabel Marant all have designed their take on this hippe-dippie shoe. (You can click here to see a full collection of designer Birkenstock-style shoes.)

Putting your Birkenstocks into action is up to you but we’ve seen the style run the full span of versatile. From sporty, casual to a night-out ensemble, it’s up to you to make them work. One suggestion is to style them with clean minimal lines, try them with skinny jeans and a layered top or contrast of the clunky shoe and a feminine dress and a moto jacket. Alternatively, you can always opt out. What do you think?

    Cesare Paciotti Sample Sale

Ready to spike your week with some new heels? Cesare Paciotti will be hosting as sample sale starting Wednesday. Savings will be 80% off retail. (Note: It’s 80% off not “up to 80% off.) The sale will include a wide assortment of shoes and accessories for men, woman and children.

Since this is one of those special showroom sample sales, you can expect to find lots of true samples from their prior collection. Unfortunatly, that means that a lot of the best of the inventory will be a size 7 but we are sure the sale will also include overstock in an assortment of sizes.

At the last sale, this past summer, we found great wedges for $190 from $635, pink leather pumps are $195 from $650 and men’s loafers are $162 from $540. There were also handbags and belts for just $50. We expect there to be a lot more merchandise this time around considering the slow retail environment. Look forward to more updates.
