When Cece Cord broke away from Barry Kieselstein his brand seemed took a bit of a beating. That being said, the company still has belts, bags and jewelry that are really unique and dazzling.
Finding a good sale on these goods has been nearly impossible but that's all about to change. This week Barry Kieselstein-Cord is hosting a sample sale. Yes, it's Barry Kieselstein's sale and not a sample sale company. So we're expecting it to be good.
We called over and were told that handbags, silver buckles, belt straps and sliver jewelry will be included. Our source said that prices will be 20% to 40% off retail but we have a feeling she was being modest. From the sound of the hesitation in her voice we would say that prices will be 60% to 80% off.
Once the sale starts we will be sure to send a more detailed sale update. Sale details are below:

If any fashion house is ready for a rebanding it would have to be Brooks Brothers. Just look at the photo below. We think that Martha Stuart would toss a cheese cake at the sight of this picture. Anyone our there think this is chic?
For those of you whose eyes have not swelled with tears, there's a 30% off discount at Brook Brothers until May 11. Notice the fine print, "Discount may not be applied towards... monogramming and personalization." Oh, wouldn't that seersucker suit look even more perfect with white embroidered initials on the breast pocket. UCK!...
Target made a big mistake with their McQueen line-- they priced it too high. What made the GO International collection great is that it was really very affordable and a great value. If you are looking to spend $90 on a dress, however, there are numerous places to shop and Target isn't the first place that comes to mind.
Well, enough time has passed to call for a first markdown. The collection is now reduced 30% off, which makes shopping for McQueen at Target a lot more digestible. Dresses are now $55, tops are under $20 and bikini's are $14 for each piece. See folks, these are Target prices!...
Couture Snob reported today that Ralph Lauren's spring sale has already started. The discount is 40% off plus an additional 15%, which brings the total saving to exactly 49% off.
The sale online is not as good. A big pony skinny polo was $198 and is now $139, or about 30% off. Stick to the Ralph Lauren stores if you're looking for a polo deal....
Yesterday we asked a few of our blogging peers to forecast how the spring 2009 sales season is going to break. Looking back into our archives, we thought we would list last year's action. Carolina Herrera: May 17, 50% off Christian Louboutin: June 1, 40% off Chloe, June 2, 50% off Dior: Presale May 13, official sale May 17, 40% off Gucci: Presale May 20, official sale June 3rd, 30% off Gucci.com, Presale May 28, official sale June 2, 30% Jil Sander: May 27, 40% off Jimmy Choo: Presale May 27, official sale June 1, 30% off Luca Luca, May 22, 20-50% off Prada: Presale May 18, official sale June 1, 50% off Michael Kors: May 20, 50% off Missoni: May 19, 30% off Nordstrom: May 15, 40% off Sigerson Morrison: May 26, 30% off
Last year, by mid-May, the department stores were all discounting pretty nicely. Here's the breakdown: Bloomingdales: May 22, 40% off with coupons for an extra 20%. Bergdorf: F5 was 30% off and the rest of the store went down to 30% on May 29 Barneys: May 22, 40% off Neiman Marcus: May 6th, 30% off Saks: May 26, 30% off
Lila's Take: I expect the sales to start the second week of May, which is a bit earlier than last year. I think many stores will go straight to 40% but others will try 30% and push to 40% and 50% if merchandise isn't moving.
We are also hearing that presales are going to run a bit differently this season. in many boutiques, customers are going to be invited to take their merchandise home during the presale period. Usually presale items cannot be picked up or sent until the sale offically begins.
My crystal ball says that Saks will go straight to 40% but not blow merchandise out at 70% unless the store remains dead.
Keep a watchful eye on Barneys. They are experiencing a bit of a cash crunch and may discount fast and furious to pay for the fall collection.
In the end, the luxury brands get ticked off if their merchandise gets reduced too much too quickly, but maybe they should remember that without these stores there's no outlet for their brands.
The following tip came to our inbox today. Good thing because we have been lusting over a purple Sally bag.
