    Brooks Brother’s Clearance

Brooks Brother's may not have the same cashe as it had 50 years ago but that doesn't mean the brand should be entirely dismissed. We've been meaning to stop by since new store opened in Carnegie Hill. The clearance time was the perfect excuse.

The store has been clearly assembled to cater to families. The girls and boys department still has a handsome amount of clearance items that are mostly 50% off. We found, a girl's shirt dress for $32 from an original price of $65, a fleece hooded sweatshirt is $30 from $60 and a bright yellow boys nylon jacket is $50 from $100.

Men's "Golden Fleece" suits are mainly $950 from a starting price of $1900 and almost all the dress shirts are 30% off one and 50% off two or more. In the shoe department, we found many styles reduced even more than 50% off. One pair of deerskin loafers were $187 from $468 and Peel & Co. loafers were $195 from $488.

This sale is perfect to get in touch with your more preppy side. For some, however, an argyle button-up vest might be way too much....

    VPL: A Vintage Affair

    By ManhattanMataHari

Calling all vintage couture lovers – for the next couple days you have the opportunity to raid the closets of socialites, stylists, models and designers. Soho vintage store, VPL has filled their back showroom with racks of designer clothing and it's all priced attractively.

Fashionable pieces from Vivienne Westwood, Prada, Helmut Lang and Miu Miu are some of the highlights. Dresses start at $50 and go up to about $400. The real deal here though are the accessories. There are several tables spilling over with designer purses, cool jewelry and hats (including one worn by Madonna in a music video). There are three Chanel classic small 2.55 flap bags (ivory, red, and black). Prices for the Chanel pieces start at $1200. At the Chanel boutique you can pay a $150 for a complete refurbishing and almost every bag comes back looking as good as new.

In addition, we found a large Louis Vuitton carryall luggage for $1200 and a graffiti pochette in white for about $400. A vintage Hermes bucket bag still runs about $2000, but the event organizer did mention on the last day there will be price reductions.

While there are a large number of vintage shoes including Manolos, YSL, Alaia, Miu Miu, Prada, Alessandra Dell’Acqua and others, most were not contemporary enough for our liking, but vintage lovers will rejoice at the prices starting from $35 to $200.

    Oscar de la Renta Sale

Oscar de la Renta's summer sale has begun. The discount is currently 40% but we expect another cut to come at any moment. We suggest scouting out your favorite pieces now and asking a sales person to stay in contact.

Amid all the colorful gowns and dresses is an amazing collection of shoes. One pair combines cork, grosgrain and beads. They were originally $595 but are now reduced to $357. Of course, the shoes are just a side note to the dresses. One embroidered silk cocktail dress is $2034 from $3390. Our favorite, is a one shouldered gown is $4470 from $7450.

Although all these items are still pricey, It's much better to buy your "event wardrobe" when you re not under the gun. When shopping for a particular event, you always end up overpaying for a questionable dress....

    Barney’s Second Markdowns

    By: ManhattanMataHari

Barney's has started their second markdown and we couldn't wait to canvas the store to see what great merchandise is still available. Ready-to-wear is all marked down 60%. We were told that there are no further discounts planned but additional markdowns may be taken after an review inventory, during mid-July. (That means you can cound on one more price cut.)

Starting on the first floor we were disappointed by the sparse selection of designer accessories – although if you are a hat person you will have quite a variety from which to choose. There are a few nice Thakoon, Henry Cuir and Marc Jacobs handbags available, but we would suggest heading straight up to the second floor.

Isabel Toledo dresses have been marked down but are still hovering around $1500, and there were even a few Moncler spring jackets on sale from $699 to $899 from around $1700. There were a number of Fendi frocks and separates ranging from $389 to $1059 and a few Yves Saint Laurent dresses and separates. You will also find some nicely discounted Nina Ricci and Rochas. We were really excited to find a Lanvin trenchcoat that was $5330 marked down to $2129.

Moving on up to the third floor we couldn’t help but notice the selection of exquisitely tailored Giorgio Armani slacks and work appropriate attire. While the slacks ranged from $319 to $509. In our opinion the highlight of this floor is definitely their formal dresswear, with a huge selection of elegant dresses and gowns marked down to get any gal ready for benefit season.
    Deborah: 212-833-2098

Next stop was the shoe department and we were impressed by select shoes that were already marked down to 70%. Although Chanel and Christian Louboutin remain at a 40% were were able to find Chanel’s adorable camellia flower rainboots for $209.
    Jennifer: 212-833-2141

Moving up to the fifth floor we were surprised to see how well stocked the sales sections were for Proenza Schouler and Dries Van Noten. There are many sizes and styles of separates and it shouldn’t be too difficult to find something to fall in love with. Anne Demeulemeester and some Rick Owens have also been marked down. We even found some nice leather jackets by Costume National and The Row for under $1000.

    PhotoOp’s 50% Off Sale

It's not secret that everyone looks better during the summer months. Bronzed skin and golden highlights are just a few of the natural beauty bonuses of warm weather. We couldn't think of a better time to strike a pose and capture the moment.

PhotoOp is just the place to go. The Upper West Side photo studio was voted the best in New York by New York Magazine and we would have to agree. We can't say enough about the stylish editorial-style photos and the kids can't stop talling about the "sample closet." It's filled with some of the cutest designer kid's clothing, which are all available for your photo shoot. There are sequined skirts, fresh starched blouses, floral bouquets, leather jackets, pink tutus, glitter shoes, rain boots and more. It's almost like a mini Vogue closet.

    Now,
PhotoOp has an even better reason to make you smile. Through July 31, customers can save 50% on regular sitting fees plus 10% off all print orders. So don't delay. Grab the kids, your pets, grandparents and take advantage of this amazing offer. The warm weather won't last forever and neither will this great offer.

    Imperio Sale

    By: TJ Kennedy

Just because you haven’t nailed down a tropical summer vacation doesn’t mean you can’t reward yourself with a few exotic souvenirs. Luxury South American line, Imperio jp, is known for their fine Argentine leather products and eclectic home décor products and is hosting a massive showroom sale.

Many leather bags are over 50% off with cross body satchels down to $150 from $450 and several canvas totes that retail for $400 now only $60. Signature hobo style bags are marked down 25%, come in a variety of colors, and have interchangeable handle straps. The smaller, patent leather styles are only $50. Hamptons-worthy leather duffel bags are also 25% off and made to order.

All home décor items are half off with hand woven silk throw pillows in bold colors and prints are now $137 from $275. Larger floor pillows come in pairs and once retailed for $1,200 are marked down to $600. A great two-for-one deal-- if you’ve got the space in your apartment for floor pillows.

Clothing is 50% off but the selection was not our favorite part of the sale. Bright colored silk scarves, tops, skirts and jackets were plentiful, but not memorable. Button up blouses were $100 while Batik cotton dresses were $60 and one-of-a-kind silk jackets were marked down to $400. There was also swimwear and beaded jewelry included in the sale that are fun, affordable additions to any summer wardrobe. A $15 bikini? We’ll take two.

Word has certainly not gotten out yet about this sale and there is still plenty of merchandise; they are ready to get things moving so don’t be shy about making reasonable offers. We suggest sticking with the soft, durable leather bags, which seem to be their trademark. Save the rest for that exotic getaway you’ve been craving.

    Muji Sale

If American Apparel and Bed, Bath, & Beyond had a baby, it would be Muji. The Japanese retail store has everything under the sun: from candles and containers to kitchenware and clothing. Right now, the entire spring/summer collection is 30% off and almost everything in the store is included. Tanks and tees are only $15, while jeans are $60 and lightweight knit sweaters are only $49. There is a ton of merchandise left in a variety of sizes and neutral hues. Essential sun hats in several styles are discounted to $45 while select canvas tote bags are $30 and small luggage pieces are marked down to $129.

Men’s clothing selections are also plentiful and both men and women’s spring trench coats are $150. Linen pants are $59 and button ups are $49. Not that we are suggesting an entire linen ensemble, but it’s nice to have options. Collared t-shirts are down to $28 and khaki shorts are $64. At prices like these, why not pick up a few staple pieces for him?

Some of the higher discounted items in the store include cotton bed sheets and soft duvet covers all in varying shades of beige, which are 50% off. A pair of sheets run for about $50 to $70 depending on size. With so little time in a day, Muji’s one-stop-shop style makes it easy to pick up all your wardrobe and household necessities in one place....
