It's that time of summer again when you realize you have nothing to wear. There's nothing to wear to breakfast. Nothing to wear after the beach. Nothing to wear. Period.
To make matters worse, summer trends are already tired. We've had enough with the chevron rainbow. Ditch the Dolce florals. Simple. Simple. Simple. Finding something inexpensive isn't bad either.
If you're looking for quality minimalistic basics without the high prices, we suggest you explore COS. The retailer is the younger sister of H&M. Prices are higher but the quality is akin to most designer contemporary brands or better. The best part is that COS is hosting a summer clearance sale where most items are 50% off or more.
The online store also carries a nice selection for men and women, which are both on sale too. If you can't get to the store downtown, we seriously suggest you test shop online. Shipping is just $6 and returns are free....
It's now or never if you want to grab what remains on Net-A-Porter. As an extra bonus, the site is offering an additional 20% off select remaining items.
After tomorrow the sale section disappears and the next stop is TheOutnet. Speaking of which, the discount site is now offering an additional 40% off items that are are already heavily reduced. This Iris and Inc drawstring bag is an amazing deal at just $177. The same goes for this light weight cashmere sweater that comes to just $95. Here's a Valentino bag for just $600 from $2500. Here's a pretty Herve Leger dress for just $400 from an original price of $1640.
We love both these sales because there are plenty of inexpensive items that offer a cheap thrill and a variety of more haute merchandise that would otherwise be cost prohibitive. Just remember look at the small print. Sometimes the most discounted merchandise is final sale and it's no deal if you're not going to be able to enjoy your purchase....
July 4th is almost here and it's the perfect time to grab some great deals at our favorite online designer discount store, Amuze. The holiday sale boasts discounts up to 80% off of great designer merchandise from Tom Ford, Valentino, Saint Laurent, Prada, Gucci and more. The best part is that you can use the code JULY4 and save an additional 25%.
We couldn't imagine anyone not loving all these discounts but it's also good to know that Amuze allows returns for either store credit or refund (minus shipping, of course). But shop fast, these deals will disappear as quickly as the fireworks.
We are coming into the home stretch of markdown season. In baseball they would call it the bottom of the ninth. (I think.) Both Barneys and Bergdorf Goodman have slashed prices to 75% off, which means all bets are off. It's time to throw down those white gloves and get shopping.
Below is a comparison chart of Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue. Take note that the shoe discount at Barneys ranges from 60% to 75% off. It's rare to see markdowns on footwear that top 75% off. We suggest snagging anything that looks vaguely like something you might wear....
Saks Fifth Avenue started their final markdown today. The discount, which is being titled a 'Consolidation Sale,' is up to 80% off. The one problem is that all merchandise that's reduced 60% or more is final sale. That means you need to really consider your options before making a purchase.
If you're holding out for an even better discount you might be disappointed. Since new management took over, the discounts stopped at 70%. Perhaps that means more of a bounty for the Off Fifth stores but we haven't confirmed that....
Moda Operandi is hosting a summer sale where some of the most stylish designer items from the season are discounted 75%. That means you can shop some of the most fashionable pieces of the season for prices that don't even fall into the splurge category.
There are really a lot of great pieces in the sale section. You can scroll through the photos above to see our favorites. Take note, a lot of these items are final sale....
This is among the biggest getaway weekends of the year. If you don't have a retreat of your own it's likely you will be finding refuge with friends and family. The only thing harder than hosting guests is figuring out what to buy a hostess.
Fear no more, Henri Bendel is fully stocked with thoughtful and fashionable gifts for your hostess. The best part is that most everything is 50% off, which means you can buy twice as much. After all, a hostess never complained of a guest that was too indulgent.
Although we love a little $12 'wet bikini' pouch as much as any girl it is really unfortunate to see this incredible space not being used to its full potential. We loved the days of turning into a nook and falling in love with a design or item that was truly unique and fashion forward.
For now, we will be satisfied with Henri Bendel warming the heart of our hostess but hope that it will continue to transform.
Second markdown occurred at Saks Fifth Avenue more than two weeks ago and a third and final markdown isn't far away. If you're wondering what items are still available we have all the answers and lots of pictures too.
Before we dive into what's on sale, we should point out that Saks is running a circus theme beauty incentive. When you spend more than $175 on fragrance or beauty products you receive a red and white clutch filled with lots of premium products. On top of that, many brands are offering brand specific incentives. So this would be a great time to stock up on cosmetics before you head out on holiday.
Targeting handbag markdowns, we headed behind the elevators on the main floor to find lots of Valentino, Lanvin, McQueen, and Stella discounted 50%. You can see pictures of sale bounty right here. Most notable were the Dee Ocleppo (Hilfiger) bags. The fringe on the rattan styles are increasingly growing on us. The idea of not having an easily identifiable bag is also growing more attractive. Another markdown would make it even more attractive.
Heading upstairs to designer clothing, there is a little bit of something for everyone. The discount is a steady 60% off and traffic is dying down as customers wait for the final cut. Some unique standouts are a Sacai trench with lace sleeves (very practical) that's reduced to $1600 from $4000. There are also lots of Christopher Kane's patchwork items including sweaters and jeans. The dress version is still available online here for $252 from over $630. Among the evening wear there is a large assortment of Carolina Herrara. None of the good stuff is online but we have pictures here.
The eighth floor of Saks is more like a canyon of shoes. All of the Chanel shoes are 30% off. (Chanel boutiques are 40%.) Louboutin were reduced to 40% on Friday and there is still a great assortment. Clique for piques. Dior has an entire table of discounted shoes. There are also lots of Aquazurra shoes, which were a hot item this season.
Overall, we wouldn't say there were many surprises at Saks but there is considerably more in the store than what you will find online. As a matter of fact. It's about prime time that Saks gives its website an update. The styling is off, the sorting options are horrible and it's just looking old. Every girl needs a little refresher at some point. Best not to neglect your online presence.
