Golden Goose sneakers can spotted on fashion girls of all ages, ranging from teenagers to grandmothers. The iconic Italian sneaker can be easily identified by the oversized star and worn-looking soles.
We first spotted this Italian brand of footwear about two years ago but the combination of the high prices and sneaker boredom kept us a reluctant customer. Considering the growing popularity and rising prices, we were excited to find a large assortment of Golden Goose markdowns. Some styles are discounted to under $200 when retail prices can easily exceed $500.
Italist is a no-frills European designer website, which means that the prices are low but you will play for shipping and returns. On the bright side, there is no sales tax (unless you live in California). As New Yorkers, we can define that as an additional 9% savings.
For these prices, you can justify grabbing a pair for yourself and your middle schooler. Besides, how else can you make yourself feel better while they are away at summer camp?
It's officially that time of year, when stores start taking their final markdowns. Today Saks Fifth Avenue and Barneys started their third markdowns. The discount at Barneys hit 75% and Saks slashed prices to 70% of the original price.
We hate to say it, but this will be the last markdown. If there's something you want, now is the time to buy it. We suggest also stalking the stores because someone else's return can be your jackpot.
Bergdorf Goodman just took its third markdown on Summer merchandise. We love keeping a close eye on these final markdowns because it's a great opportunity to snag high-end luxury merchandise without spending insane amounts of money or dealing with sample sale madness.
Moving on to shoes and bags, the discount hasn't become much better. The markdown is holding steady at 50% off. We are hoping that over the holiday season, there will be an additional discount on footwear. For the meantime, we are keeping a watchful eye on these Miu Miu satin mules and, of course, these Chloe miss-matched sandals....
Since we've been trolling the same stores for a while, we thought we would look outside our most frequent haunts. Ssense markdowns have hit 75% off and there are lots of great wear-now Summer options that you can snag.
Here is an Erdem dress that's reduced all the way to $471 from $1885, Raf Simons x Adidas high tops are $88 from $350, Isabel Marant rope sandals are $121 from almost $500 and a Rick Owens dress is $235 from $940. We aren't surprised but there is a large amount of Yeezy drastically reduced. We can't say that anything is worthwhile, even at 75% off.
We don't think the discounts will go down any further but some merchandise will continue to be reduced. We already picked up some Kenzo pieces but we wouldn't mind a few more pieces if there is another round of discounts. Sacai also has so many interesting pieces, if they were only discounted a bit more it would bar interesting to try a few.
We will keep you posted if there are any interesting markdowns. For now, have fun browsing.
The Manolo Blahnik's boutique sale kicks off on Monday. Usually, the first markdown is just 30% but this season the discount is 40% off. The second markdown, of 50% off, normally comes a week later but we don't know what will happen considering this most recent shake up.
As far as sales go, the department stores are serving up better discounts. Neiman Marcus just started a promotion where sale merchandise is an additional 33% off. Here is a low heel sandal with pom-poms for $365 from $815, nude BBs are $266 from $600 and these print Birkenstock-like sandals are $356 from $800. Barneys is offering an extra 10% off shoes that are already discounted 60% off. These BBs are about $200 from $600 and these denim style sandals are $300 from $685.
Toward the end of the month, Manlolo adds a third "sticker" markdown where prices start at just $250. You can see our past coverage of Manolo's sticker sales here. We always prefer the boutique final markdown to the sample sale-- at least you get a box with your shoes.

If you're a shoe addict, like us, you're going to want to check out Net-A-Porter's shoe selection right now. A large assortment of shoes were given another price cut bringing the total discount to 70% off.
Here are tropical print Sophia Webster sandals discounted to $165 from $550, pom-pom Aquazzura classics reduced to $218 from $725 and these Aquazzura Wild Thing flat sandale are only $176 from $585. We can't believe how many cute pairs of shoes that are just about $200. It really makes you question ever spending any more. As a matter of fact, most of the shoes in the scroll are under $225.
If you get past the shoes that are reduced 70%, you should direct your attention towards these Golden Goose sneakers. They aren't reduced quite as much, but 50% off is still nothing to sneeze at. Speaking of good discounts, there is a whole bounty of past season Gucci shoes also reduced by half.
We encourage you to sort by discount, and then dig for your favorite designers. If you haven't maxed out your shopping cart, you can start to browse the clothing. We did well enough with the shoes-- for today.
Fluffy footwear become a thing when Alessandro Michele slid a slab of fur into, what's now become, the iconic Gucci fur slide. The new fall collections are filled with furry feet.
The shoe section of Bergdorf Goodman was a flurry of activity as shoppers took the opportunity to begin the Chanel presale tradition. The current markdown on shoes is 50% off and the Chanel discount is 30%.
Among the Chanel shoes included in the markdown, are several styles of flat sandals, some sneakers and a variety of pumps. Our favorite items in the sale assortment are the classic two-tone nude pumps with a pearl heel. Those are sure to be a sell-out. The next markdown on Chanel is usually 50% and it always seems to happen very quickly. You can see pictures of the assortment in the jump.
Some other shoe brands we saw discounted 50% were Louboutins, Jimmy Choos, Manolo Blahniks, Dior and many more. Here are pictures. Nothing really jumped out at us but there is still a large assortment in every size breakdown.
Upstairs, most clothing brands have been reduced by 60% but some brands like Fendi, Rosie Assouline and Valentino are discounted just 40%. The best selection if reduced clothing is on the third floor. Among the racks, divided by designer, we found some great pieces by Prada, Mary Katrantzou, Delpozo, Mugler and so many more. Pics here.
Third markdown should start next week (maybe Tuesday). We would start stalking items now and pounce when the discount hits 75% off.
