    Theory Private Sale

Theory bores me but many find it an easy “go-to” brand for work clothing. Getting the goods for a discount is being made easier by the company, which is opening its doors to employees’ friends and family. Merchandise is 50% to 60% off from Tuesday, Oct 14th until Wednesday, Oct 15th (10am until 7pm.)

In order to attend the sale you MUST rsvp to RSVP@theory.com. The sale is located at 139 Fifth Ave (between 20th and 21st streets). As long as you’re wearing Theory you should have no problem blending in.

The Look For Less: Ballet Flats

There was this show that I used to love on the Style Channel called, “The Look For Less.” The show was hosted by style maven Elisabeth Filarski –now The View’s Elisabeth Hasselbeck. And, yes, I’m oozing with sarcasm.

Well, Elisabeth would present fashion victim guests an off-the-runway picture and her team of star stylists would have to reproduce the “look” by running around a local mall within a set time frame and the whole outfit had to be under $100.

Lets put aside our opinions about Filarski/Hasselback and talk about the fashion. The stylists were brilliant. There was Lloyd Boston and James Aguiar, just to name a couple. Somehow these guys would pull off the most amazing reproductions by running to Forever 21 and Macys.

The show is now canceled. We’re still waiting for The View to share the same fate. However, I have come across my own inspired Look For Less. Here we have two pair of crystal studded ballet flats. One is $650 by Giuseppe Zanotti and the other is $29.99 by Sigerson Morrison for Target. Can you guess which is which?

Answer: The top image is from Target. I bet you can guess where I’m going today.

    Random Fashion Musings and More

In the course of a week there are some fantastic items that cross my desk and for some reason they never make it to print or they can’t fit in no matter how hard I try. So this post, or ramble, is dedicated to just that.

#1: During fashion week, Vogue God, ALT (Andre Leon Tally to you mortals) was overheard discussing “the look” of front row attendees. He summed it up by declaring that everyone looked, ” Front of the book.” For non-publishing folks, front of the book refers to safe (non-risky) editorial, photo shoots and ads. Try working that one into your cocktail conversation!

#2: Ode to Cindy Adams– Bold face, New York, baron cries on the shoulder of a friend that he is no longer a billionaire due to recent market fallout. Asks non-millionaire friend how one can deal with only being a simple hundred millionaire—Only in New York kids. Only in New York!

#3: Understanding the current economic crisis requires more than a PhD in economics. If you have an hour, download PRI’s This American Life to your ipod. The reporters clearly and simply explain the difference between the mortgage crisis of several months ago from this week’s news and the federal bailout plan. Not to be missed.

#4: I hope this doesn’t get too buried but the pictures and prices didn’t make it to my inbox on time. Gucci is opening a brand new boutique inside Bergdorfs. At 10:00am Tuesday, October 7 (that’s tomorrow) a series of exclusive “Gucci Loves Bergdorfs” handbags will be launched. There is only one of each style made. You can get your favorite Gucci style bag in lavender embossed g’s and hearts. Everything will be available on a first come first serve basis. There are wallets also available.

Becca, a personal shopper at Bergdorfs, can keep you up to speed on what’s available and how to get your one one-of-a-kind.

Contact Becca on her blackberry: beccalevi@vzw.blackberry.net.

#5: High School Musical 3: Senior Year in theaters October 24th. Need I say more?
