    Neiman Marcus Designer Pre-Sale

The Neiman Marcus designer sale starts Friday and runs until Sunday. Fine (read: expensive) handbags, ladies shoes, apparel and men’s will be all marked down 33% and when you use your Neiman Marcus or Bergdorf Goodman card you will receive an additional 15% off sale and regular priced merchandise.

Lastly, any purchase over $1000 in the above mentioned areas can qualify for 6mos interest free on your Neiman Marcus card. (Editorial comment: Don’t do it! If you can’t bank it today don’t bank on tomorrow).

Pre-sale started today and Fall 2008 Chanel ready-to-wear and bags are included in the sale.

Ralph Lauren Friend and Family 30%

Ralph Lauren is hosting another 30% off friends and family sale. This time they seem to have mastered the fine print and that $17,000 purple croc Ricky Bag you’ve been lusting for is not included in the sale. However, the code does work for getting over $1000 off the Ricky Calf bag with gold detail.

It might be worth the extra typing to browse through the “Create Your Own” section of the site. Customizable polos are already reduced about 40% and the additional friends and family 30% makes the shirt half price. Not bad considering that also includes the entertainment of selecting your color choices.

Sale details are below. Thank you Dom!:

    Gucci & Bedat Watch F&F v2 NYC

An additional Gucci/Bedat friends and family sale has been scheduled. The last Gucci watch f&f sale was in mid-October and held in East Rutherford, NJ This sale is at least a lot more convenient and you don’t have to pay a toll to get back home. A Mad-Spy fan who sojourned to Rutherford in the Fall and reported back the following:

I went to this and bought 2 watches, one his and one hers, for $300. They are amazing! They also gave us an email list to sign up for to receive updates on the next event!

Here’s all the information for those who get turned on from a Gucci tick:

    Missoni: We See 50%

Missoni doesn’t mess around. When the new season comes in prices drop on half. There are no pre-sales. No one day sales or mark-up/mark-down days. It’s 50% and it will stay that way until after Christmas when they drop prices again to 70% or 80% off.

Well cruise wear is trickling in and the prices are slashed in half. Sorry, scarves and bathing suits are never put on sale at the Madison Avenue store. You will have to go to Century 21 for that.

    Gucci Gets Ready to Sale

I got a phone call late last week about Gucci hosting a “Holiday Shopping Night,” on Thursday, Nov. 20th, were everything in the store will be reduced 10%! When I heard this I knew something was up. So I gave my good friend, Maura a call. Turns out that the big discount is coinciding with the Spring trunk show.

Yeah, Maura knows that that the meager 10% discount isn’t going to drive shoppers like us. So she pointed out that we can take this opportunity to prepare for the official first markdown, which is slated for December. First markdown is usually 40% but I have a feeling that this year’s sales will be earlier and more aggressive than we’ve seen in decades. Maura is off Tuesday but is ready to take your “pre-sale” list.

    Luxury Brands Lower Prices

It’s a bold move and it’s very hard to imagine but luxury brands are making a rare move and lowering prices. Yes, you heard correctly. Companies like, Chanel, Versace, Christian Louboutin and Chloé are reversing the industry’s maxim that luxury prices only move up. The cuts range from 8% to 10% on most products sold in the U.S, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Don’t think that the price move will cut into margins. The Journal points out that the price adjustment isn’t likely to dent the profit margins of most European fashion houses because the value of the dollar has increased 28% against the euro since April. Most European luxury companies pay for their materials and labor in euros. The stronger dollar means these companies are earning more than they had budgeted on every handbag or piece of clothing sold in dollars.

The bold move may be applauded but who knows if it’s enough to keep the cash flowing into extravagant purchases while the economy is severely crippled.

    Chloe Sale Update

    May-Spy Izzy Writes:

Just wanted to update you: The Chloe sale is insane– as crazy eddie used to say! Three ready-to-wear pieces for $495, plus a free pair of pants-if that’s not a sale, I don’t know what is. Tons of sizes, lots of stock. Oh, and there is a dressing room. Run, don’t walk!

We’re running, but we can only move so fast in five inch Louboutins. And Trance, see, you really are a legend. And Izzy said it, not me.

    Marni Pre-sale 30% Off

Getting from Park Avenue to SoHo in the middle of the week is– for lack of a better term– a bitch. My driver, Trance and I bicker the whole way down about whether it would be better to go West across the park or head South down the East side and head West across Houston. You get the point though. We don’t head to SoHo very often.

However, there is the seldom sale that makes us pull out or downtown passports. A good Marni sale is one of those instances. Starting Friday, Nov. 14th Marni is pre-selling all Fall/Winter 2008 ready-to-wear, bags, shoes and accessories. The 30% off sale officially begins the following Friday Nov. 21st.

Bottom line: love Marni, dread SoHo and prefer the current sales at Saks and Bergdorfs. Passports are staying put!
