A Mad-Spy reader wrote in the following.

Hey, you forgot to mention the Marc Jacobs sale. Fall ’08 RTW and shoes are 70% off, and there’s still a good selection. I got an amazing coat!I

Thank you for your spy worthy news. However, the Marc Jacobs-Magnolia Bakery-Paris Commune section of the village is just that– the Village. While we’re on the subject, of off location sales please remind me that I need to call Jeffery’s. I rarely make it that way but love the merch.

    Sale Rundown v2

These are the discounts in our neighborhood. None of these sales are as good as those at Saks but now that their inventory has been decimated here’s where to go to get the best values. Keep in mind, however, many people overs-hopped at Sakes. I guess at least 20% of the inventory will be coming back so make friends with the sales people so that they keep an eye out for your heart’s desire/ Happy shopping!

Bottega Veneta: The sale officially starts on Friday, November 28th but the pre-sale stated today. Fall/Winter 2008 merchandise is 30% off. In stock are large hobos in navy, red, purple and maple.
    Tatiana 212-371-5511

Carolina Herrera: The sale is currently underway and reductions are 50% off.

Chanel: The manager, Stephanie, says they haven’t been told when the sale will officially start but she can do a “buy and hold.” The pre-sale is now 40% off. No handbags or jewelry will be included in the sale but there are lots of shoe styles.
    Stephanie 212-535-5505

Chloe: Fall/Winter 2008 is now 50% off. There are no pointy toe flats but lots of other great things. Prices usually don’t drop more than this so buy what you want now.
    Christian 212-717-8220

Christian Louboutin: The discount is just 40% off and is likely not to change.
    Erich 212-396-1884

Dolce & Gabbana: The sale started Friday and Fall/Winter 2008 is now 40% off. In prior seasons prices have dropped to 70% off retail.

Emilio Pucci: Fall/Winter merchandise is 40% off.

    Michelle 973-309-5821

Ferragamo: The sale starts Friday but pre-sale is underway. The discount is 50% off, which is much more than prior season’s first markdowns. This Summer, prices never dropped more than 35%.

    Reports From the Battlefield

One Mad-Spy reader made the rounds today. This is what she reports back:

Saks– If you want bags forget it! Clothes they have pulled more out from the stock rooms and there is still a nice selection. Marco, in Michael Kors mens, is selling at presale prices and letting you take it with you now, worth going to him even if your not shopping mens. Keep it quite though so he does not get in trouble, can’t risk loosing that.

Bergdorfs– Still has a nice selection of everything especially bags. Not as big of a discount as Saks but they still have stock and 40% off is still better than retail.

Gucci– If your looking for bags go to Bergdorfs first they have several of the same sale pieces at the same discount without the presale. Leathers are 40% off and monogram is 30%. Shoe selection was just okay. nothing to party about, but I’m not a huge gucci shoe person so that’s just my opinion.

Chanel– There are still some sale bags left but they are pretty much all pink.

Barneys– Overall not much going on in the bags and the shoe sizes were limited. Didn’t bother with the ready to wear, too tired, Barneys was my last stop of the day.

    Sale Rundown v1

The Saks sale saga continues and shopping addicts continue to battle their demons as their credit lines fill up and the merchandise flies off the shelves faster than a Lamborghini at the Grand Prix. At 12am, Monday morning, the Saks online sale was slated to begin. As the time approached the site crashed and shoppers began to get upset. When the technical difficulties ended, there was no additional markdowns to be found. Saks Internet shoppers were left confused and frustrated.

Barneys sale started this weekend. Most sale items are 50% off but some co-op jeans are up to 70% off.

On Friday Bergdorfs up-ed their 40% off sale to 50% off.

Forget about Black Friday, Gucci’s sale officially starts, Monday December 1st. Presale is already underway with a discount of 40% off select ready-to-wear, shoes and handbags.

Miu Miu is 40% off bags, shoes and ready-to-wear. There is still a great selection of bags and shoes. Everyone is as Saks opting for the 70% off.

    Prada Presents Pre-sale

The sales associates are desperate and the phone calls are going out en masse. The sale is 40% off and officially begins Thanksgiving. Prices subsequently drop to 50% and in slow years, like 2004, prices were reduced to 70% off in January. The discount includes lots of everything: shoes, bags and ready-to-wear.

    Live From Saks

Reports from the sale floor of 5th and 50th are flooding in. It appears as if Christmas is coming early this year and Saks is intent on moving out all in the inventory as soon as possible. The store s currently discounting merch initial 40% plus an additional 50%, which basically comes to about 70%. The additional discount ends Friday (Black Friday) at noon.

    Here are some reports:

It’s insane! Saks is selling goods at 13 cents on the dollar, according to a source close to company executives.

You can’t find anyone to help you. All the sales people are running, says one shopper on the 10022- shoe floor.

One sales associate says, “I’ve been working here for 13 years and I’ve never seen a sale like this.”

Just remember, Louboutins are not comfortable to wear on a breadline.

    Updated Observations:

Merchandise is steadily being brought out from the stock rooms. It seems as if there is more than enough to go around. After all, that’s the reason why they are having the sale.

One woman had 20 to 30 pair of shoes stacked to be brought out to her car. Her pile included Louboutins, Viviers and Chloes.

The Chanel boutique is starting its sale Friday morning. Call Endo (212-940-4347) first thing in the morning if there’s something you have your eye on. Classic bags, of course, will not be on sale. Think fashion Fall 2008 if you’re looking for a discount.

Employee s are worried. Prices cut this low could mean job cuts are next.

The Bergdorf’s sale is still just 40% off but they have a history of holding out.

    YSL Starts First Markdown

YSL is about ready to announce their first markdown. ready-to-wear will be 40% off and shoes and accessories will be 30% to 35% off. The sale officially starts Friday but we are told that they will start ringing customers up tomorrow.

I think we will wait until YSL does their second markdown before we do any serious shopping. While on the topic: What was up with those atrocious “Trooper” heels.

    Saks Begins Black Friday Early

Saks is moving Black Friday to Tuesday, November 24– or now. Saks will be having its initial 40% plus an additional 50% off on selected styles, which basically comes to about 70% until Friday noon.

After Friday at noon, the additional 50% turns to 30% which comes to about 56% off. And shortly thereafter Saks and other retailers will realize that 2008 will have no Black. For 2009, red is the new black!

Editorial Correction: Sorry for the confusion earlier. In all the Saks madness it seems as if our trusty sales associate has confused days and dates. It appears as if the sale is currently in motion.
