    DVF Sample Sale and More

We don’t post many sample sales and when we do they are usually exclusive deals or extreme discounts. The Diane von Furstenberg’s sample sale is neither but still draws our attention and the attention of chic girls, stylish women and elegant ladies from all over the area.

Today we hit the press preview bright and early. There was no line when we entered and the crowd was tame but lively. There is an amazing assortment of merchandise and more wrap dresses and shirts than you could imagine. Prices are as follows:

DVF wrap dresses and vintage: $150
    Dresses: $125
    Jackets: $125
    Blouses: $80
    Skirts: $80
    Pants: $80

The best deals are the samples, which are all $50 and the worst deals are the cover-ups, which are $100. Even with the substantial retail discount the prices add up quickly when you start piling on the dresses. The sale runs through Saturday and as the week progresses there are usually markdowns. Friday seems like a good day to hit up 29th Street again.

    Address: 260 Fifth Ave b/w 28th and 29th St
Dates and Hours: Tuesday, June 2nd through Saturday, June 6th. Tue 9am—6:30pm; Wed 10am—8pm; Thu 10am—7pm; Fri 9am—5:30pm; Sat 9am—3pm.

    Marc Jacobs 70% Off

The Marc Jacobs boutique in SoHo– not to be confused with the Marc Jacobs section of the West Village– is hosting a 70% off sale. All spring ready-to-wear, shoes and jewelry are discounted by two-thirds. Bags are not discounted at all so if you’re looking for a good MJ bag discount you might want to head over to Barneys or Saks.

Oscar de la Renta 50% Off

The entire Oscar de la Renta spring collection is 50% off, including ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, belts, sunglasses and fashion jewelry. The sale is also online for your viewing and shopping pleasure.

Most dresses started off at about $7000 and are about $3500 now. Shoes are in the $600 to $700 range and are now, well, half that. The after sale price for sunglasses averages around $150 and handbags are, not very attractive, so don’t worry about it.

The site also has an outlet where the inventory from prior collections is also 50% off. We don’t understand that pricing rational but maybe other shoppers do. Last season, the collection went to 70% off. So if you’re looking for a great deal you might want to wait four to six weeks.

    Louboutins and Choos

Choo shoes and Louboutin shoes are officially going on sale at their respective boutiques starting Friday. The spring/ summer collection at Christian Louboutin will be 40% off. We are told that there is still a good selection of shoes and sizes but you should go now because there will not be any further discounts.

As for Jimmy Choos, the discount is 30% off. The sale includes the summer and cruise collection, as well as select bags. There was a private sale last week but we were left in the dark due to a dim sales woman who believed that the sale would not begin until the fall. Don’t fret, we have the situation under control and Faisa will be taking care of all our Jimmy Choo “needs.” going forward.

The Same Game: YSL Cage Boots

Every season an iconic piece of fashion emerges. Sometimes it’s a belt at a particular width, could be a bag with a noticeable print or the intricate pleating of a skirt. This season, YSL seems to have captured a look with their Cage Boots. Rumoured to be sold out shortly after the collection arrived, we were surprised to see these wearable (or unwearable) pieces of art reduced.

In the spirit of Madison Avenue Spy–lets play The Same Game!

YSL Cage Boots: Retail price $1,590
    Barneys:$949.00
Bergdorfs:$1590– will be reduced on June 3rd either 30% or 40%
    eBay: $1700
    YSL Boutique: $999
Saks: $1590 –will be reduced 30% on June 1 to $1113

    Roger Vivier Private Sale

We got a postcard this week announcing a five day sale at Roger Vivier. Most of this season’s style are 30% to 40% off. Some bags and clutches are included in the sale but sunglasses and the classic square pilgrim shoe are not.

The private sale runs through Sunday and then prices go back up. We think they will yo-yo the prices a few more times before the season is over but we don’t expect the discount to go higher than 40%.

Marni’s sale has officially started. Ready-to-wear is 30% off but accessories will be 40% off for the first time ever. Rumours are that second cut is just a few weeks away and will be 50%.

The sale is also available on the Marni site. The above dress was $1120 and is now $784. A ruched lambskin leather shoulder bag was $1655 and is now $993. A jacquard orange and brown check sleeveless top was $955 and is now $669.
