    Madison Ave Sales Continued

    By ManhattanMataHari

Most presales have already ended and discounts are now widely available up and down the avenue. Last week we looked for presale bargains at some of our favorite Madison Avenue boutiques and this week we are bringing you more, more, more. Tis’ the season!!!

    Bally
Bally usually takes a more conservative approach to markdown season with a 20% to 25% cut. This year, Bally fans will be happy to learn that the sale ranges from 30% to 40%. Sale merchandise includes, select shoes, handbags, accessories and clothing.

    Brunello Cucinelli

    Brunello Cucinelli
Most people aren’t thinking of sweaters during the first week of June but then most cashmere isn’t Cucinelli. The boutique started their sale on June 1st with a 40% discount. Since their sample sale is offering a 60% cut and runs through Friday, June 8th we would suggest scoping that merchandise first.
    Sample Sale: 150 E. 58th St. (bet. Lexington & 3rd Ave.), 3rd Floor. 9am – 5pm
    Maria (in store): 212-813-0900

    Calvin Klein Collection
Minimalist fans can now save 40% on pre-spring handbags, shoes and clothing. There are sine exclusions including, some scarves, bags and the new lingerie and sleepwear line. We expect the discount to increases to 60% within the next few weeks.
    Erin: 212-292-9000

    Celine
Starting Thursday, June 7th the haute Celine will discount ready-to-wear a cool 40% off retail. Covetable accessories will be marked down 30%. While the popular luggage totes will not be part of the discounted merchandise, there will be a few seasonal style handbags included.
    Miguel: 212-535-3703

    Emilio Pucci
Spring and summer sale merchandise is discounted 40% and is selling out quickly. Many styles and sizes are running low in the clothing section. For now, swimwear is excluded. No large scarves are discounted, although some 90×90 scarves from past collections are sale along with small leather goods. We are told that there won’t be a second markdown.
    Yoku: 212-230-1135

    Loro Piana
Light wear cashmere silk blends will be on sale starting June 22. The markdown has not been decided but we be surprised if the discount was 40%. Summer scarves are usually available, although no heavy cashmere will be included.
    Charmane: 212-980-7961

    Max Mara
The Max Mara sale officially starts June 7. The markdown is 30% off everything from the spring and collection. Private sale customers already took a big bite from the sale merchandise and stock is dwindling. Women who wear size 6s and 8s will have the most from which to choose.
    Fernando: 212-879-6100

    Nicole Miller
Early spring dresses, sportswear, gowns and accessories are now 70% off retail–including some of their seasonal metallic ruched dresses. Full season summer clothing is only 30% but there will be further markdowns soon.
    Rilda: 212-288-9779

    Nicole Miller

    Reed Krakoff
Spring and summer clothing and shoes are 40% off retail while seasonal colored handbags are at a 30% discount. This sale is expected to go through July and there should be second cut towards July 4th. Although Reed is best known for his bags and accessories we are always big fans of his ready-to-wear collections. Don’t be afraid to check it out.
    Jarvis: 212-988-0560

    Roberto Cavalli
This season’s sale just stared on June 1, so expect to find plenty of their sexy flowing dresses and swimsuits for a 40% discount. This may go up depending on what Italy decides to do – although with their economic woes, we wouldn’t be surprised to hear about a second markdown soon.
    Irilina: 212-755-7722

    Tom Ford Half-Off

Tom Ford can do no wrong. Even his sales hit exactly the right note. Why bother with first, second and third markdowns when you can get straight to the point?

Right now, the Tom Ford boutique is hosting a sale where most merchandise is 50% off. The Carine bag, which is one of our favorites, is now about $1600 and the softest leather jacket you’ve ever kissed is now $5000. All shoes except for a pair of alligator pumps and plush velvet slippers are also half-off.

The same enticing sale is occurring in the men’s department. We would love to speculate that there could be another markdown but we doubt it. We suggest shopping now for the best selection.

    Mr. Porter On Sale

Sometimes we feel bad that some amazing men’s sales are left out from time to time. We are trying to incorporate more information for our gentleman shoppers but sometimes the gravitational pull to handbags and stilettos is just too strong.

Those of the male gender and those who shop for them will be happy to know that Mr. Porter has started their seasonal sale. The markdown is up to 50% off and there are lots of great discount items from which to choose. Basically, a lot of the 50% merchandise is from the winter collection.

We quickly snatched a winter coat we missed at Barneys last season for half off along with a few pair of jeans. For those who have eyes for leather Balmain, might want to wait a bit. Like the women’s site, there’s always room for a second markdown.

    DVF Raises Sample Sale Prices

Today marked the beginning of the bi-annual Diane von Furstenberg sample sale. As usual, wrap dresses and wonderful silk prints were plentiful. Prices, however have gone up a bit from last season.

In prior seasons, blouses and sweaters were $80 but this season they are priced at $90. The biggest price jump was in the handbag and leather goods section. Last season, bags topped out at $250 but this season they are priced up to $285.

It’s not surprising that DVF has raised their prices. Since we started covering the sale in 2009, prices have remained the same. Unfortunately, we can’t say the same for retail price tags.

Those shopping the DVF online sample sale will be less satisfied. Online dresses range from $150 to $337. If you’re in the market for really great prices, we suggest waiting for markdowns at the Flatiron sale. We suspect discounts will start Wednesday afternoon. Inventory is replenished throughout the sale, so don’t be shy about stalk-shopping. Prices for this season and last season are below.

    DVF Sample Sale
Tuesday, June 5 through Saturday, June 9
    Tues 9am to 6:30pm, Wed 10am to 8pm, Thurs 10am to 7pm, Fri 9am to 5pm, Sat 10am to 3pm
    260
     Fifth Ave. (bet. 28th & 29th St.)

    Chanel Summer Sale

Although almost every designer has thrown his merchandise into the discount ring, there are a few exceptions. Chanel is among the few designers that hold out for their first markdown. This year, we hear that the Chanel sale will officially being on June 14.

The sale usually consists of clothing and shoes from the spring and summer collections. Bags that are seasonal and non-leather are often included in the markdown. When it comes to sale handbags, we are talking about a Chanel canvas beach bag rather and not a salmon mini-classic. There are no specifics on which bags may be included.

Prices for the first markdown are 30% and many boutiques and department stores will begin taking presales beginning Monday, June 4. While browsing online, we found the above assortment of shoes, which will be included in the markdown.

    DVF Online Sample Sale

Diane von Furstenberg has an alternative plan for those who can’t make it downtown for the sample sale or wish not to shop among throngs of aggressive discount shoppers. For the first time, shoppers can access DVF’s sample sale when they log onto http://dvfsamplesale.com.

Those who register their email addresses will be able to shop for discounted DVF starting June 4th. Like the real sale, the online version goes public on June 5th. The downside is that we don’t expect for there to be a $50 “sample rack” at the online sale.

You can click here to read our previous post, which outlines the ins and outs of the DVF sample sale. Happy clicking!

    Iris Fabulous Shoe Sale

There are few instances that are more frustrating than lusting over an item all season, waiting for sale time and finding out the store has run out of your size. Suddenly, you find yourself in a frenzy searching for your desired purchase.

When it comes to shoes, however, we never worry because we have a secret backup plan. Iris, which is located in the Meatpacking District, stocks the FULL line of shoes from Chloe, Rochas, Marc Jacobs, Jil Sander, Michael Kors, Nina Ricci and more. Iris is the type of resource that is especially priceless, in an environment where department stores insist on exclusives and even the brand owned boutiques limit their assortment.

What’s even better is that Iris is hosting a sale where spring and summer shoes are 50% to 30% off. That’s an even better discount than Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman or nearby Jeffery. Bascially, all the premier collections are 50% off and the contemporary brands, like See by Chloe are 30%.

If you can’t make it downtown we suggest checking out the store’s affiliated Giutzy website, which is hosting a similar sale. Just don’t wait too long because plan C often coincides with desperation and usually results in overpaying.

    Meatpacking District Discounts- Round I

Who needs a gym membership when you can shop those pounds away? All those heavy bags and hiking up and down Manhattan city streets in 4-inch heels must account for some body toning and calorie burning. Well, today, we focused our shopping efforts– yes we are going to call it that–on the Meatpacking District. When you’re done reading here, be sure to check out the rest of our sale hunting series, which includes, department stores, Madison Avenue and Midtown and Soho.

    Alexander McQueen
Presale started almost a week ago at Alexander McQueen but the sale doesn’t officially start until Thursday. Clothing is 40% off while shoes and handbags are cut 30%. There’s still a nice selection of merchandise and we truly loved the underwater inspired collection. Just beware some sales people –aham, Max– can be a bit short but that isn’t reflective of all the store’s employees.
    Mosell 212-645-1797

    McQueen

    Jeffrey
Although some Missoni, Jason Wu, Oscar de la Renta, Burberry and Stella has been marked down, the remainder of the store is still running at full price. We expect the sale to start before the weekend, so this would be a perfect to start sorting out your purchases with a sales associate.
    Charles: 212-206-1272

    Matthew Williamson
Our mouths begin to water like Governor Chris Christie at a Thanksgiving table when we hear that one of our favorite designers has started the season with a 60% markdown. The only items not included in the sale are shoes designed by Charlotte Olympia.
    Lindsey: 212-255-9881

    Nicholas Kirkwood
Although we think Nicholas Kirwood chose the wrong neighborhood to open a boutique—we are bit bias—we won’t hold it against him. To start off spring on the right foot, Kirkwood is reducing spring and summer style shoes by 30%. Exclusions include staple pieces like the bow shoes and suede varieties.
    Kayla: 646-559-5239

    Nicholas Kirkwood

    Owen
Meatpacking District newcomer Owen, carries brands like Surface to Air, Suno, Karen Walker and Cheap Monday. For their first neighbrorhood sale they are starting with a 30% price cut. The only brands not included in the markdown are Jen Kao and Genetic Denim.
    Phil: 212-524-9770

    Yigal Azrouel
While their 40% markdown may not be as inexpensive as a sample sale, you just can’t discount the boutique experience. A Yigal leather jacket cannot be underestimated. Unfortunately, accessories are not included in the markdown, yet. Only some older belts and scarves are eligible for the seasonal discount.
