Pics of Bergdorf Goodman’s Final Markdowns

Most department stores started their last markdown several weeks ago and the opportunity to snag the season’s best fashion for a discount is coming to a close. Today we took a tour of Bergdorf Goodman to get a feel of the selection and values that remain.

Right now, almost all of the clearance items have been consolidated to the sixth floor. The selection is much smaller than we would have expected but there are several pearls among the sea of discounts. A beaded and embroidered Alexander McQueen leather balaro jacket is a show stopper and reduced to $1869 from $7460, a Givenchy blazer in that fantastic floral print we all love is $640 from $2550 and the matching pants are $249 from $990. A white Vionnet dress is $399 from $1585 and a Kenzo denim dress is just $159 from $645. Pictures of all the aforementioned items are right this way.

Heading down to the shoe department, there are still several racks of shoes that are discounted 60% off. Among the assortment are a few styles of Chanel shoes. A blue and white stripped pair of Chanel pumps come to $330 from $795, canvas print booties are about $520 from $1275, pony hair boots come to about $1000 from about $2400 and patent leather booties with the iconic woven chain are $585 from $1450. Clickity-clack here to spy all Chanel shoes that are 60% off.

We are told that the sale merchandise will be around until the end of the month. Frankly, there aren’t a lot of super items left. The online selection is different but might be even better. If you’re planning to pre-shop for Fashion Week, now would be the time.

    ShopBop 70% Off Clearance Explodes

Fall fashion is pushing aging beachwear and sun dresses to the back of stores. In the online world, the clearance tab is the preverbal bargain basement. Today, Shopbop has reduced thousands of items to 70% off.

After browsing over 2400 clearance section items, we pulled our favorites into the lookbook above. Some of the sale highlights include, a Rodarte dress with an embroidered scorpion that’s $2000 from $6600, a black Moschino dress with a detachable cape for about $900 from $3000 and Maison Martin Margiela python booties for $366 from $1220. There are also lots of less expensive staples like gauzy Eberjey pants that are $36 from $120, a Surface to Air tank with a cutout back is $43 from $125 and J Brand super skinny jeans are $55 from $183.

Take note, all these 70% off items are final sale. The no-backsies rule used to really bother us but we’ve realized that we never return anything bought online anyway. (Too lazy.) So really, what’s the difference?

    Alice & Olivia 75% Off

The most wonderful thing about social media is the way that the people we admire allow us to share small parts of their lives. Over the years we have become entirely enchanted by Stacey Bendet’s Facebook feed. Stacey is the eccentric founder of Alice & Olivia and on any given day her candids capture her at home, in her office or even doing a goofy dance with her kids. One thing that almost universally remains the same is the designer’s signature oversized dark round sunnies.

Now that the Alice & Olivia collection is 75% off, you too can recreate a signature Stacey Bendet look. Try this strapless black maxi dress that’s $121 from almost $500, playful heels (think Charlotte Olympia without the platform) are $81 from $325 and a black fold-over bag is about $100 from $400.

Once you’ve been inspired, all you need to do is add your own signature oversized sunglasses and make the look your own. Ohhh yes, to do it like Stacey– you must have fun too! That’s always our favorite part.

    Saks Ends Consolidation Sales

Change has become the norm at Saks Fifth Avenue since it was purchased by the Canadian-based Hudson Bay Company. The first big change was that all third markdown purchases were not returnable. Now, we even have a bigger shocker. Several sources have confirmed that Saks will no longer run their consolidation sale.

The Saks Fifth Avenue consolidation sale was a time honored tradition when the department stores’ smaller retail locations sent their leftover inventory to the regional flagship. Over the years the discount and layout of the sale had changed drastically. Most recently, the 9th floor was the destination for the bargain basement event but the “real consolidation merchandise” and the best markdowns didn’t get truly attractive until several weeks after the promotion was announced.

We suspect that the new Saks policy means that the overstock inventory will be used to stock SaksOff5th stores. This new game plan makes perfect sense due to the rising popularity of outlet stores and the rising prices of designer close-outs. It makes more sense for Saks to recycle merchandise from their stores than to buy new inventory for their SaksOff5th outlets.

The Saks Fifth Avenue final sale ended Sunday, now we will have to wait for the merchandise to hit the outlet.

Intermix Extra 50% Off Sale Items = 80% Savings

Intermix has started their final clearance sale and all sale items are an extra 50% off, which brings the discount above 80% off on many items. Don’t let the start of August cause you to completely direct your fashion attention towards fall. There’s still lots of vacation days for which to dress up.

When shopping this late in the season we like to try and pick items that are wearable now through the warm weather months of autumn. Our wear now and wear later picks include, leopard print wide leg pants from 10 Crosby Derek Lam that come to $110 from $375, Sara Battaglia fringed shoulder bags for $330 from $1200, Markus Lupfer foil lip tee for $30 from $150. This Barbara Bui leather jacket is perfectly on trend for fall in every way and is priced at $460 from $1700.

Remember, just because an item is being sold as part of summer clearance doesn’t mean it needs to be stocked away come Labor Day. In reality, most non-beach clothing can be worn well into October.

Inspiring #BacktoSchool from Backpacks to Dorms

Don’t deny it, #BacktoSchool shopping is the best part of the fall season. Ever since Kindergarten we’ve eagerly anticipated the end of the summer so that we can start stocking up on fresh school supplies and the newest fashion.

Using eBay, we curated a couple collections to inspire your style for the start of the new academic year. We started off with a grouping our favorite backpack styles. We especially like bold prints for girls and sleek color-blocking for boys. Check out this girl’s bag with colorful cat-eye sunglasses, this blue and white crackerjack camo print and this preppy navy blue bat that has red pipping and zipper accents.

Those entering the next phase of their lives, shouldn’t be limited by institutional dorm rooms. In this collection about dorm room decor, we suggest amping up a small space with bright bedding, a wall mounted mirror and colorful kitchen accessories.

You can check out all of our inspiring eBay collections here and you can enter a chance to win $500 by creating your own #BacktoSchool collection. Click here to get started. After all, it’ never too early to get shopping for a new season.

Designer Bags Discounted 70% on Forzieri

Earlier this year, I had to buy a gifts for a couple that are nearly impossible to impress. They have both been all over the world and have the privilege to be able to afford themselves most anything they like. The gift had to be thoughtful and useful. After all, who needs more clutter?

While shopping online, I became intimately acquainted with the website Forzieri. The website isn’t new  but it has some really great Euro fashion and classics. If that’s your thing, we suggest you shop now if you like European design and style coupled with great all-American markdowns. Right now, the site is hosting a summer luxury sale were many designer items are discounted up to 70%. Plus, if you can save an extra 20% by using the code EXTRA20 at checkout.

We couldn’t believe how many hard-to-find designer bags are on sale. Here’s Valentino Rockstud patent leather bag that comes to $1200 from $3158. The blue Jil Sander market totes are a steal for $400 from $1275 and even a fashion street style fashion blogger can afford to rock this Kenzo bag at fashion week with a price of just over $300 from almost $1000.  Check out this European-feel Leonardo del Fuoco iPad bag that comes to $1020 from $2520. The bright-green, embossed croc, against the hard black leather, is as eye catching as a Celine bag and it’s perfect for work– even if you work at Vogue. This Philipp Plein black studded bag is also a great value for $710 from $2215.

Although it’s hard to get past the markdown on handbags without breaking the bank, you should also check out these Loriblu studded biker boots for $310 from $780 and these McQ Alexander McQueen bumble-bee yellow and black heels are $220 from $675. A Valentino leather Rockstud bracelet is $160 from $345 and this Zadig & Voltaire studded belt is a good price too at $150 from $278. Ohhh, ohhh, ohhh–the John Galliano skinny scarf is perfectly on trend for fall 2014 (see Prada’s runway) and it’s less than $80 from $186.

Although this is European, the VAT has already been removed and shipping is free with a $150 purchase. The site’s gift wrapping is expensive at $7 but some times the presentation is as valuable as the gift. In this instance, I would say the extra price is worth it.
