    Chanel Presale Begins Now

The Chanel sale officially goes public on June 22 but those who are in-the-know– or are insistent with a sales person–can begin presale-ing on Monday. The discount will be 40% on shoes, jewelry and clothing at both Barneys and Chanel boutiques. The discounts at Bloomingdales and Saks will be 30%.

Chanel doesn’t authorize retailers to sell it’s merchandise online but we curated a selection of pictures sent to us from various sales people and snapped some of our own. You can browse the pictures here or scroll through some unofficial online items. We are awaiting intelligence on which bags and small leather goods that might be discounted.

If you desire a particular item, we suggest contacting a reliable sales person. Last season, was exceptionally difficult for Chanel lovers because very few bags styles went on sale. This season’s sale list includes a very nice assortment of Chanel jewelry. The next markdown usually happens pretty quickly and the discount ranges from 50% to 50% off. Stay tuned for updates.

Best Markdowns to Shop This Weekend

Summer Fridays are officially here and that means that retailers are eager to get shoppers off the beach and into stores– virtually and physically. There are great sales this weekend. We’ve listed many of our favorites below.

Take note, the UK version of Net-A-Porter has started it’s first markdown. The discount might not be as high as the US site but it’s a great second opportunity to snag an item you might have missed. The currency exchange is pretty good and shipping isn’t too expensive. The Brit site also has a lot of items that weren’t posted to the US version. It’s worth a browse.

    Moda Operandi Serves 75% Off

This week, retailers started their second markdowns but Mode Operandi is adding even more discounts. Through Sunday, you can use the code MORE20 to save an additional 20% off sale items. The extra discount brings the total savings to nearly 75% off, which is hard to beat anywhere else.

We love that this site is very fashion-centric but it also means you have to do a lot of browsing until you hit upon your personal style. Some items we’ve been stalking include, a Caroline Constas off-the-shoulder dress that comes to about $200 from $500, this dress from MArch11 is versatile and is reduced to about $400 from nearly $1000 and these ‘Gomroll’ sandals from Giusseppe come to about $290 from nearly $900.

For those hottest days of  Summer we’ve been on the lookout for stylish draped pants. We love this striped version from Rosie Assouline or this version from Tibi is a lot less expensive and does the trick too. Even these jeans from Frame essentially fall into the drapey category.

Moda’s sale season usually runs long into the season. Final markdowns usually hit about 85%. With fashion this expensive, sometimes it pays to wait.

    Shopbop: Extra 25% Off Sale

Just in time for the weekend, Shopbop is offering an extra 25% off sale items. The extra discount brings the ultimate markdown to about 85% off. Just use the code SCORE17 at checkout.

The sale officially kicks off tomorrow but we suggest you dig in right now because merchandise will go quickly once the public is let in. For now, you need to use this link to access the additional savings.

This is a great time to grab a new few items for the upcoming Summer weekend. Browsing through the 70% off section, which is final sale, we found an adorable Cynthia Rowley dress that comes to about $100 from $450. (The dress is perfect for daytime with sandals or nighttime with heels.) We  also love this drawstring cotton dress that’s $95 from $400.

Outside the most reduced items, we love these frayed hem jeans from 3×1 that come to $150 from $225, Aquazzura Wild Thing slides are about $170 from $475 and Kenzo espadrilles are about $180 from $240.

The sale ends Friday at midnight (PT). This is the best deal you can expect, outside of Shopbop’s friends and family sale. If you ask us, it seems like a good opportunity to celebrate Summer.

International Spy: The Best of First Class

Flying is an interesting experience. It’s always exciting, a bit stressful and and sometimes horribly annoying. Like many travelers, I taken to arriving at the airport ridiculously early. After all, it’s torture to sit in traffic and watch the minute hand advance more quickly than your car. Just the thought of JFK traffic makes me shudder.

Airlines have gotten the message loud and clear and have made a huge effort to capture the audience of waiting travelers. First class travelers, in particular, have an abundance of indulgent pre-departure options. Noteworthy restaurants, bars and boutiques are making big a big splash at airports all over the world. As a matter of fact, arriving to the airport early is becoming something I look forward to and have started to orchestrate as part of my trip.

Foreign carriers have been ahead of the curve in creating a welcoming atmosphere for departing travelers. Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways and Lufthansa have all poured hefty amounts of money into revamping and modernizing their First Class lounges.

British Airways made a large investment in updating its U.K. terminals and recently announced a multi-million dollar redesign of New York’s JFK Terminal 7. The new upgrades will include an expedited check-in process with private areas for Club World and First customers, completely revamped lounges with pre-fight dining, and new gate seating.

Most recently, American Airlines launched their Flagship First Dining experience, at JFK airport. First Class travelers get to check-in at an exclusive private area of Terminal 8 and are treated to a unique food and beverage experience. All the food and drink ingredients, including the mixed drinks, are sourced locally and the recipes were conceived by acclaimed regional chefs and mixologists. As a matter of fact, the drink menu was created the famed Pamela Wiznitzer, of the popular Upper East Side bar, Seamstress.

We especially look forward to taking advantage of this airport update when traveling to not-so-far away cities, like London. Getting a wonderful dinner, while on the ground, gives you the opportunity to get a real full nights sleep in the air. (Maybe after just one glass of Champagne!)

American Airline’s Flagship First is scheduled to continue its airport concept rollout to include Dallas, LA, Heathrow, Miami and Philly. The food and experience will be different in each city and incorporate local flavors and dishes. (We will follow-up once we experience all seven cities and let you know which one is best. Just kidding!)

American isn’t the only, um, American Airline to upgrade. Late last year, United Airlines launched “United Polaris” in effort to transform the business class experience on the ground and in the air. The first Polaris Lounge was launched at Chicago O’Hare, in December. The airline partnered with Saks Fifth Avenue to offer an elevated experience in the air but on the ground travelers are treated to private daybeds, spa showers and premium dining. A Polaris lounge is headed to Newark too but there have been … “unexpected delays.”

As a jaded consumer, it’s always refreshing to see updates and increased amenities at an airport (or anywhere for that matter.) I’m excited to see the new trends in elevating the airport experience. Now, if someone could do something about that traffic to JFK I would really be trilled!

Neiman Marcus & Saks Take 2nd Markdown

Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue just started their second markdown today. Saks has cut prices up to 60% and tomorrow Neiman Marcus will offer an extra 25% off, which will bring the discount to 55% off.

What’s most interesting about Saks is that the store seems to have dug out old merchandise and added it to the sale selection. Over in the Prada handbag department, many bags are discounted 40% off, but we were quite surprised to see Prada Madras that was from the fall 2014 collection. (Wow!) The eighth floor shoe department was overflowing with shoe styles reduced an extra 25% (including Louboutin) but some of the styles were several seasons old. After the whole 2008 sale debacle, it’s understandable that Saks is sale-shy but serving customers old merchandise seems sneaky.

If you’re looking to sink your teeth into what’s current at Saks, you will find a small selection of Valentino bags reduced 30% and 40% off. A small assortment of Loewe bags and Lanvin bags are reduced 30% and then another 35%, which brings the total discount to about 50%. This Lanvin tote in lilac blue is just $700 from $1550. Y(ou can click here to see detailed pictures of bags and shoes. )

Upstairs, in 9021-shoe, or whatever, the racks are brimming with sale style shoes. Saks is the place to go if you’re looking for Fendi, Prada, Valentino, or Manolo. The available assortment is better than most any other local store. Again, be aware of old style shoes. You could start a fun game trying to name the season for some of the Aquazurra, Miu Miu and Giuseppe Zanotti. (Head this way to see lots of shoe and bag pictures.)

Over at Neiman Marcus the discounts are set to hit 60% on Tuesday. We expect that bags and shoes will be 50% off and designer clothing will be reduced to 60% off. There is still a good selection of bags and shoes. We suggest you add them to your cart now and wait for the sale to go live. We will follow up with details as the sale unfolds.

    Valentino Warehouse Clearance Sale

Valentino’s studded shoes and bags have been around for many years but the look is still fresh and modern. A little bit of Rockstud makes any outfit a bit more, um, rock stunning. The problem with Valentino has always been the ever rising and staggering price tags.

For this reason, we were very, very excited by our latest find. Global Fashions is the sole distributer of Valentino in the United States and their warehouse is brimming with merchandise. We had the perfect answer: a Warehouse Sale.

Starting Tuesday, Global Fashions will be hosting a Valentino sale where a spectacular assortment of Valentino clothing will be reduced 80% off,  bags ranging from top selling classics to iconic seasonal pieces will be 50% to 70% off retail, and a wide array of shoes, including lots of Rockstuds,  will be discounted up to 70% off.

Most of the inventory is from 2016 but there are some older items too. We were thrilled to see brightly colored rainbow chevron bags and accessories from the 1973 throw-back collection and brightly colored camo. We snagged a few pictures during a walkthrough, which you can see right here.

The sale will only run for four day. We suggest you head over early. We don’t think there will be restocking.  Once the warehouse is cleared out, it will be nearly impossible to find these items again.
