The IT-It: August Vacation Packing List

There is nothing we don’t love about Summer. Even 100-degree weather can’t get us down. (Not that hot weather has been too much of a problem this season.) Our favorite part of Summer is Agusut vacations. Before checking out it’s always nice to pick up some fun pieces of fashion regardless of where you plan to unwind.

From basking in the infinity pool of Hotel du Cap, dancing on tables in Mykonos or just slipping into flip-flops for long beach days, Nordstrom has some great pieces to make the end of the season a bit more fun. We absolutely love these limited edition ‘Happy’ earrings from Ashley Williams ($158), denim shorts from Vejas ($475) are much more than you’re average jean shorts and these Jacquemus slides ($355) are easy but anything absolutely not basic.

Not everything you pack needs to be haute. Here is a ruffle shift dress ($89) that is perfect to throw on to eat brackfast, after the beach or for a walk into town. Here is a white gauzy maxi dress ($55) that will look go perfectly when paired against Mediterranean blue waters and you can never go wrong with an itty-bitty bikini????  ($36).

Nordstrom is always the perfect destination to shop trends and everything you need for Summer. The store has all the most cutting edge designer pieces and inexpensive options too. The best part is Nordstrom’s first-rate customer service, which includes free shipping both ways.

The It-It: The Return of the Pointy Toe

It never fails. As soon as I throw my arms up and give an item away it comes back into style with a vengeance. Only last season, I sold a haul of pointy toe shoes. There were jeweled Prada kitten heels, eccentric Maud Frizon printed heels and old Giuseppe Zanotti sky-high heels. All had exaggerated pointy toes that I thought were unwearable.

In a matter of months, pointy toe heels are back with a vengeance. Some of our favorites include Balenciaga’s pointed slides, Celine’s pointed toe pumps, Prada’s satin kitten heels with faux pearls and Gucci’s cherry heels. These Stella McCartney checkered pumps are even on sale and are quite the steal for just $300 from nearly $1200.

It’s hard to choose which pair to choose for Fall. It even hurts more to know that I had so many unique styles sitting in my closet for so many years. Too bad that there isn’t a closet that expands over time so that we can keep everything we have ever loved.

Neiman Marcus Discounts Hit 90% Off

Neiman Marcus clearly wants to eliminate all traces of Summer and is clearing out the last of seasonal merchandise with a big extra discount. Right now you can save an extra 35% off if you buy three or more sale items. We all know that means, you might have to buy a few extra items but it will  pay off big.

When all the math is said and done, you can find many pieces discounted nearly 90% off the original price. Here is a Tom Ford velvet dress that was initially priced at $6450. Once all the discounts are applied the dress will cost only $855. Here is a Victoria Beckham bustier that’s just $232 from $1430, Dior sunglasses are $190 from $450, Valentino loafers are $285 from $1100 and Jimmy Choo printed mule heels are $200 from about $800.

To get the 35% off discount you must by three items. We suggest sorting from low prices to high, if you don’t know what to add to your cart to hit the minimum. It’s always nice to have a few new pairs of underwear or pajamas. Who can’t use a new pair of jeans?

This sale runs trough Wednesday. We can assure you this is Neiman Marcus’s rock bottom markdown. It’s not going to get any better than this. The next promotions are all gift card events until Fall merchandise goes on sale.

    Global Fashions Designer Sale

Global Fashions has always been and remains the leading distributer of luxury brands names worldwide.  The designs of their clothing, accessories and shoes are always on top of everyone’s must-have list. The problem with luxury fashion is the ever-rising and staggering price tags. Haven’t they become crazzzzy?

Starting Monday, Global Fashions will be hosting a multi-brand sale. There will be a spectacular assortment of designer clothing for men and women, which will include Valentino and Anya Hindmarch with discounts of  80% off clothing. Shoes and bags– ranging from top selling classics to iconic seasonal pieces– will be 70% off retail.

The best part is that a lot of the merchandise is from Fall and Winter collections, which means you can get a jump on updating your ‘back-to-school’ wardrobe. We got a sneak peak and were particularly impressed by the men’s selection. There are lots of great jackets, sneakers and backpacks for guys. That’s in addition to the ornate clothing and gorgeous shoes and bags for women. You can click here to see a few pictures we snapped during walkthrough.

In addition to the Valentino assortment, there will be merchandise from Alberta Ferreti, Anya Hindmarch, Dolce & Gabbana, Garavani, Marchesa, Moschino and Red Valentino.  You don’t want to miss all that.

The sale will only run for four days. If you attended the last sale, you know how quickly the best merchandise was gone. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

    The It-IT: House Of Holland

It’s no news that streetwear is hotter than almost any French or Italian haute house. Vetements, Off-White and ReadyMade are all offering the fashion set, luxury coolness.

Shoe designer, Sophia Webster wearing House of Holland

We’ve never been keen on chasing the masses and have developed an overwhelming fondness for House of Holland. The British label hit the fashion scene in 2008 with its playful wit and bold prints. The brand is notoriously a favorite of Pixie Geldof and Alexa Chung. The best part is that under-the-radar brand can be found on major markdown at various retailers.

Over at the brand’s website, we found discounts of 50% to 70% off. We love this floral embroidered skirt  that comes to about $200. (The problem there is that shipping is about $20.)

Asos also carries a great selection and discounts are often as much as 70%. This embroidered dress is $183 from $460. These jeans are as cool as any pair from Off-White and are priced at just $93 from $316. The sunglasses collection is really statement making and the discounts are amazing too. How about these exaggerated mirrored cat-eyes that are $85 from $240 or this striped pair that’s a bit more tame but just as cool for $95 from $240?

Over at Farfetch you can find some great older pieces on sale like this Ratchet tee that’s $35 from $115 and a heart midi-skirt is $115 from $105.

House of Holland is also sold at Opening Ceremony, on Howard Street, if you’re looking to get your hands on the physical fashion.

    Fivestory Clearance & Sample Sale

What we love about shopping at the Madison Avenue boutique, Fivestory is how the inventory goes beyond the basics and satisfies the needs of those looking for drama and haute. Think Balmain, Cushnie Et Ochs, Mary Katrantzou, and of course, Rosie Assoulin.

The problem with such style is the expense and the fast pace of trends. For this reason, we are always looking for an major markdown. Starting Tuesday, August 8, Fivestory will move all it’s overstock to Soho where you will be able to save up to 90% off on many items. (You can click here to see what we found and bought at last season’s off-site.)

If you’re not apt to leave the seashore or travel downtown, we suggest you quickly popover to the Fivestory boutique (or website) right now. The discounts are 70% on many items and there is still a large size selection on even some of the most lust worthy items of the season.

We are in love with these Geanvito Rossi cap-toe heels that are now $240 from $800, an Off-White denim jacket with roses is $275 from $920 and a Rosie Assouline striped sweaters dress is $500 from $1700. Here is a Monse dress shirt that’s anything but a basic dress shirt and this Natasha Zinko dress looks like it was picked from a lavender garden in Provence. There is also a good assortment of Roland Mouret items.

There is no doubt that the deals at the off-site will be better than the current in-store discounts but the convenience of online shopping might be worth the premium. Items purchased through the online sale are also returnable, which can’t be said about the Soho sale.

    Fivestory Offsite
Tuesday, August 8th through Sunday, August 13th
Tues 9am-8pm, Wed to Sat 11am-7pm, Sun 11am-4pm
    150 Greene Street

    Net-A-Porter Sale Ends Tuesday

The last minute is always the most productive minute the day and the second hand is gaining speed on sale season. If you’ve been putting off making a purchase on Net-a-Porter, we suggest you take this moment and do it NOW. The site’s seasonal sale ends Tuesday and once it’s done the entire catalogue of merchandise is removed from the site.

Right now, you can find a wide variety of merchandise discounted 70%, plus an additional 20%, which brings the total savings to a grand 80% off retail. So what’s especially discounted that warrants a last look?

There is a ton of swimsuits and coverups still available. We especially love this Mara Hoffman bikini that’s now under $80 from $240 or this Emma Pake bikini that’s only $100 from $435. Here is a Eberjay crocheted coverup that’s about $80 from $240. Remember, we still have all of August, early September, Mykonos and fall vacations to get our wear.

Stepping away from the pool and out of the sand, this Mark Cross colorful shoulder bag caught our eye. It’s currently reduced to $950 from $2400. (It’s hard to gauge if it’s even worth the $950– but it’s cute.) Anya’s rainbow cross-body is now $450 from $1100. (There’s no doubt that it’s worth it ????????❤️.) Aquazzura classic lace-up shoes are just $218 from $725 and there are still lot os sizes. These Francesco Russo peep-toe heels are A-mazing and are reduced to $275 from $920 and Charlotte Olympia ‘Love’ heels are about $280 from $900.

Among the clothing, there is A LOT of Miu Miu and Prada. Most of it is about 70% off once you add the additional discount. Here is a Dodo Bar Or romper that’s about $110 from $340, a Roksanda striped dress is $850 from over $2700 and this Roland Mouret top (which I own in navy and looks amazing on) and is now reduced to $280 from $875. (Do you think I need another??)

Remember, this sale only runs through Tuesday and then it’s off the site. The next time you see this merchandise it will be on The OutNet and prices will be higher.
