Logomania Is Back: Dior, Fendi and Gucci

Is it the 80s or the 90s all over again? We can’t quite figure it out. Regardless of the decade, we are sure that logomanie is back with a vengeance. As a matter of fact, just today, Dior announced it would re-release its iconic logo clad Saddle Bag. The Fendi Zucca print exploded all over influencers before its most recent runway collection. Then there’s Gucci.

We urge you to think twice before  forking over several thousands for the new iterations of these logo prints. You may want to consider searching for the perfect vintage version. The result will surly be a more interesting item and for a lot less money. Over here is a Dior Saddle Bag that’s just $375 and here is a Double Saddle Bag and it’s just $325.

Moving onto Fendi, there is the standard Baguette that can be had for under $300. Then there are the more interesting items like this Zucca print robe that’s about $500, rainboots are $273,  an oversized cardigan is $800 and a coat is $700.

At this point, everything Gucci is a logo. When looking for vintage Gucci try to be sure that the item looks fresh. For example, this 80s carry-on travel bag, a wallet on a belt and this 70s clutch are just perfect.

If anything, fashion loves extremes. So feel free to pile it on and mix it up. Just don’t get too invested. Before long, we will all be anti-logo again.

VIP Preview: Save Up to 25% on Shopbop

For a long time, department stores have been luring shoppers with gift card shopping incentives. We’d prefer a straight discount over a gift card any day. It’s always more attractive to save money now than be offered the promise of a gift card in the future– especially when it’s likely to expire.

Good thinking: Shopbop is offering a shopping discount incentive that increases with the more you spend. The best part is that we just got early access. You can start shopping now and use the code GOBIG18 at checkout.

We wouldn’t mind using the discount on for this Leal Daccarett shirt with dramatic cuffs. Versace shield sunglasses are also perfect coming into spring. If don’t have anything rainbow you can light-bright your wardrobe with these Spiritual Gangster rainbow stripe track pants. These red Proenza pointy-toe sling-back flats are perfect with jeans, a skirt or a dress.

    15% off orders of $200+
    20% off orders of $500+
    25% off orders of $800+

You can also use the discount on sale items. This Self Portrait top is 50% off even before the promotion, a rainbow wrap top from Alice & Olivia is currently discounted 40% and this Milly jumpsuit is already 70% off. Not bad for a pre-promo discount.

The sale opens to the public on Tuesday and the promotion runs through Saturday, March 3. The next big Shopbop deal doesn’t usually take place until early April.

    The IT-it: Ugly Daddy Sneakers

It takes a real eye to appreciate the imperfect as much as beauty. It’s for this reason fashion has always had an obsession with items that are wayward, or even, ugly. This especially goes for footwear. What else could explain Uggs, Crocs, Doc Martins, and yes, the newest trend, daddy sneakers?

They are chunky, grubby, heavy and unbelievably unflattering. They are the ultimate star of the 80s movie — think Ferris Bueller’s Day Off — and every designer is now making them. Currently, the most popular variation is Balenciaga’s Triple S. The $900 sneakers sell out as quickly as they become available. On the secondary market the Triple S goes for even twice as much.

Vetements offers a pair of norm-core daddy kicks through a collaboration with Reebok, which are arguably even more ugly than the Triple S and cost $950. There is the brightly colored Nike Lab x Comme des  Garçon for $250 but just a few sizes still remain.

This trend shows little sign of letting up. Gucci just showcased their own iteration of daddy sneakers. They are as big and bulky as this season’s version but they have the added element of draped jewels. Do the gems make you want them even more?

Maybe ugly designer sneakers are just another way to entice customers with ugly designer socks. After all, it’s the imperfect that makes beauty interesting.

Bogner Sample Sale Up to 75% Off

March is one of the most wonderful months to ski. It’s warm, the sun shines on most days, and, in many cases in the western United States, it’s the month that brings the most precipitation. It’s also when ski crowds cool down and sales for skiwear begin to heat up.

As a matter of fact, our favorite skiwear brand, Bogner will begin a sample sale, on Friday, in their Soho store. Shoppers can expect to find savings of up to 75% off seasonal styles from recent collections. Plus, you can score deals on Bogner’s hood furs, helmets and boots.

During a sneak preview we spotted a black and white jacket that’s now $825 from $1650, a fashion ski coat is $900 from $1800 and a silver jacket is just $300 from $750. A hat with a fur pom-pom is $110 from $220. You can click over this way to see pictures.

We suggest you take advantage of these discounts while the assortment is plentiful and the pile is still fluffy. You know if you don’t, you will regret it next Winter.

Supreme Becomes the Chanel of Streetwear

As the fashion glitterati tracks Italian trends from Milan, everyone from 13-year-old kids to their moms and even the Art Basel crowd will be stationed at their computers come 11am-sharp on Thursday. That’s when Supreme is scheduled to ‘drop’ their spring collection online. Wait more than two minutes and it will all be gone.

Supreme isn’t just about just skateboard decks anymore. Following its successful collaboration with LVMH, the streetwear brand has captured the attention of those normally clad with Chanel classics and Hermes Birkins. Establishing that you can spend between $5000 and $50,000 on a status bag isn’t enough any more. Style arbiters are much more interested in procuring the hard-to-get.

This Spring Supreme release, is poised to be the biggest ever. The collection includes all of Supreme’s famous basics from hoodies, hats and tees. The fastest selling items from the in-store release, last week, were a faux fur logo coat, the glow-in-the-dark Pile Skull pieces and the “Illegal Business Controls America” hoodie.

We have our eye on some other items–being as we are a little bit out of the Supreme demographic. Of course, there is the pinball machine, which is a great summer home decor accessory. The logo lighter is a great piece, whether you smoke or not. We love the duffle bag, which is perfect to use for airport travel because it’s light and bright. It also feels so much more right-now than LV luggage. The best part is that it’s just $150. You can click over this way to see all the pieces in Thursday’s drop.

If you’re shopping online from Supreme for the first time, don’t be surprised if your credit card is flagged. The site, unsurprisingly, encounters lots of fraud. You may want to call your credit card company beforehand so that your purchase ability won’t be compromised.

Luxury shoppers who feel too highbrow for this Supreme offering can hold out for the rumored Rolex collaboration. That’s sure to catch just about everyone’s attention.

    Selling Out: Balenciaga Speed Trainers

It’s not technically Spring but warmer temperatures have us thinking about the fashion season ahead. Trends usually come and go season-to-season but sometimes a hot item only picks up speed. That seems to be the case with 2017’s hot Balenciaga Speed Trainers. This low key, high luxury item shows no sign of letting up on popularity.

Right now, many department stores just got new spring shipments on these knit upper ‘sneakers’ or have started taking pre-orders. We suggest you grab them while they are available– especially if you wear a smaller size show and can’t fit into a  men’s version.

At Barneys you will find only two sizes left of the logomania version, there are still several sizes of the yellow “Power’ version and the red ‘Europe Collection’. Net-a-Porter only has one size of the metallic option and they are completely sold out of the basic style.

Bergdorf Goodman has a few size option in the basic style of Speed Trainers and is fully stocked in the black and yellow ‘Power of Dreams’. We are sure they won’t be available for very long.

Saks has a few larger women’s sizes in the basic black style but is fully sold out in the white version. Matches Fashion still has a ‘coming soon’ notice on their Spring styles. It’s probably a good idea to add them to your wishlist so that you’re updated when they become available.

If this is a look you want to rock for Spring, we suggest you roll up your jeans and speed your clicker over to Bergdorfs now. It’s your best bet for this hot kick.

Neiman Marcus Hits Last Call at 80% Off

If you’ve ever wondered what happens to all that wonderful merchandise at Neiman Marcus that goes un-purchased, we have the answer. In just a matter of weeks, it pops up at the brand’s discount store, Last Call.

Neiman Marcus Last Call stores have received new arrivals direct from Neiman Marcus. The discount usually starts at about 65% off original retail but extra promotions often bring the total savings to over 80% off.

Keep your eyes open, we have heard recent reports of Moncler coats and in past years we’ve spotted Chanel clothing discounted almost 90% off retail. We’ve also heard that the discounter receives Chanel bags from time to time but doesn’t display them. We suggest asking a sales manager if you’re on the hunt.

Last Call online also has plenty of good finds. A Tom Ford dress is about $1000 from $5000, a Mary Katrantzou romper is $360 from $1700, a Milly off-the-shoulder blouse is $70 from over $300 and a Saint Laurent metallic minidress is $870 from $5000.
