Saks Private Surprise Sale: 70% Off Valentino, Moncler & Baleniaga

It’s technically not a sale season but it appears as if retailers are quietly liquidating leftover merchandise online. Saks Fifth Avenue is running a 72-hour private flash sale where you can save 70% on designer labels. You need to use this link to view the sale.

Over this way, we found a Moncler shearling coat that is reduced to $2000 from $6500 and over this way is a velvet quilted style that’s $500 from $1145. There is actually a better assortment of men’s Moncler styles but the discounts aren’t as high. (We suggest keeping an eye on those.)

Other designer standouts include this Valentino floral print dress that’s $1500 from $5000, a Fendi bell-sleeve dress is $700 from $2450, a Vetements puffer is $1000 and change from $3039 and this RedValentino studded leather jacket feels like a steal at $800 from $2700.

This sale will only run through Monday, March 12. We assume there will be similar promotions in the future but we don’t know when. We were actually surprised by the generous markdowns and the number of viable purchase options. If only we didn’t have to choose!

    The It-It: Spring Slingbacks

Every season requires a new shoe trend. After all, if there weren’t a new shoe, there would be nothing for us to buy. For Spring, we are going crazy for the classic slingback. You know, those pointy toe shoes with an open heel.

This season, the most fashionable variety features a low or kitten heel and a pointed toe. The trend started when Dior’s slingbacks hit the Spring 2017 runway. Their ladylike pointed toes and contemporary “J’ADIOR”-branded ribbons made them a huge hit among the fashion set. The $895 slingbacks have become a staple of the fashion house and haven’t officially been put on sale. We scored a pair from this eBay seller for about $700.

Another seasonal highlight is the Prada slingback for $750. We might like them even better than the Dior for it’s utilitarian feel. The two-tone combination is a perfect way to slide into spring. We are hoping to snag a pair during the first markdown but we are worried because sizes are already selling out.

Manolo Blahnik ($755) always offers a classic slingback. The best part is that they are comfortable to wear for 10 to 15 hours. You can’t say that about most other shoes. Nicholas Kirkwood ($795) is another designer that offers a notoriously comfortable slingback option. We would be remiss to omit Louboutin ($795), which is always a classic beauty.

If you’re looking for a higher heel, Saint Laurent ($645) is your answer. We especially love the white. Vetements offers a version that is architecturally beautiful but very pricey at $1150. The Loewe slingback ($890) features an ‘egg’ built into the heel and Aquazzura has a jeweled style for $895.

As you can see, there is no shortage of slingbacks from which to choose. Actually, choosing just one will prove to be the harder undertaking.

The OutNet Disappoints Even at 85% Off

Twice a year, The Outnet cleans out it’s designer closet with blowout prices. Surprise! The sale started today and the discounts range up to 85% off.

There aren’t as many temptations as usual, which is a good thing for our wallets. Some of the splurge possibilities include this ruffled Balmain skirt that’s $700 from $4600, a long coat from Calvin Klein collection is $582 from $3883 and a Haider Ackermann leather bomber jacket is $540 from $3574.

There are so many shoes that it’s best just to sort by your size. If you’re a size 9 go for these Francesco Russo lattice patterned ankle boots that are $200 from $1350, Sergio Rossi suede ankle boots are a size 7 and come to just $123 or loafers from The Row are $188 from $1250. Last year, we found a large assortment of Christian Louboutin. No such luck this time around.

There are essentially no bags in the sale and accessories options are limited. We usually love this sale but, this year, it’s kind of a bust. It might be worth some digging as part of a snowy day activity but we have an empty basket even after two hours of looking.

Neiman Marcus Begins Extra Discounts 85% Off

Yesterday, we reported that Bergdorf Goodman was running an online promotion where discounted merchandise was an additional 20% off. It’s no surprise that Neiman Marcus wouldn’t be undersold by it’s little sister and started a similar promotion today.

The thing is that the selection is entirely different at Neiman Marcus. As a matter of fact, there are many more designer options available from the parent company. Over here is a dramatic Givenchy peplum tunic that’s only $300 from $1500. A Narciso Rodriguez double-face cashmere duster is $600 from $3000, a Thierry Mugler high-slit skirt is $216 from $1080 and a summery Brandon Maxwell mini-dress is $480 from $1400.

Among the shoes we found Balenciaga logo print low boots for $300 from $945 and Thomas Maier fur slides are $464 from $450.

This promotion will run through Saturday, March 10. We might see a series of these extra discount promotions in the coming weeks but it’s unlikely new merchandise will be added and size availability is already running low. It’s probably not a good idea to take a pass on something you might really want.

Bergdorf Goodman Online Sale 80% Off

We were very excited about the sales at Bergdorf Goodman this year. The discounts were great and the additional promotions made it nearly impossible to resist buying more and more. (I suppose that’s a mixed blessing.) The good thing (or bad thing) is that sale season is continuing online.

Right now, you can shop Bergdorf Goodman’s online clearance department and save an additional 20% off. The big treat is that the online clearance section is scattered with great designer items and once you add extra discount, the total markdown tops 85% on some items.

The best part is that we fount a lot of fashion that’s perfect for Spring. Over this way, we already grabbed  this bomber jacket from Opening Ceremony that comes to just $114 from $575. (Off-White might be cooler but it’s not worth $1400 more.) Over here are Fendi Cuttout glasses that are $200 from $570 and this two-tone style is just $141 from $400. White velvet Manolos are $388 from $700, floral print Balenciaga pumps are $400 from $1000 and this Carolina Herrera cocktail dress is $537 from $2700.

There are also some great luxe items from the winter collections still available. Take this houndstooth double-breasted coat with a fur collar that’s $600 from $1500, a Calvin Klein faux fur/ PVC trench coat combination comes to $1118 from nearly $4000 and this Balenciaga chain print dress is reduced about 80% off.

The promotion will run through Wednesday. Bergdorf doesn’t do these extra 20% off sales too often. We suggest you take advantage while the opportunity presents itself. It might take some digging and sorting but there are some great treasures.

    Nordstrom Sale: Moncler 40% Off

Most people have been so distracted by fashion month that shopping has been brushed aside. As part of the back-to-reality process we started to surf online stores while still keeping an eye the new fashion reveals. We were excited to find that Nordstrom is hosting a late winter clearance sale where discounts are about 40% off.

One of the highlights include the Moncler selection. This floral print puffer is $950 from $1600 and this logo sweater is $360 from $600. We love this wool coat with floral appliqués from Paskal that’s $650 from %1100.

The biggest trend for denim, going into the Spring, is a front ankle slit. A pair from Frame is perfect and reduced 40%. This ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’ denim top from Alice & Olivia is reduced to $236 from $400. Sock sneakers are another huge trend for Spring but styling them can be difficult. Try them with a boyfriend cut jean and bonus points for some holes and rips. These Current Elliot jeans are great for $166 from $245.

As the saying goes, ‘See something, Say Something.’ If you see an item for less at another store, we suggest calling Nordstrom operators and they will price match and even sometimes even add an extra shopping incentive. It’s just a nice little perk.

Bogner’s (Uptown) Sample Sale Up to 75% Off

Yesterday was a harsh reminder that Winter is not over. March can be as tricky as a sleeping tiger. One day it’s sunny and warm, the next is a snowy Nor’easter.

It’s a good thing our favorite skiwear brand, Bogner is hosting a sample sale in the neighborhood. Through the weekend, shoppers can expect to find savings of up to 75% off seasonal styles from the most recent collection. Expect to find great deals on items like stylish moon boots, Aprés ski looks and colorful and sporty jackets.

At the sale, we spotted colorful hats with pom-poms for about $100 from $220, a ski suit with a fur hood is $800 from $1800 and jackets are about $800 from up to $1800. The fur boots might be more Aspen worthy than the city streets, but are a great deal for $500 from $1260. You can click over this way to see pictures.

We suggest you take advantage of these discounts before the next surprise snow storm hits. You know if you don’t, you will regret it next Winter.
