 This week we approach the one-year mark of when, it seems, the earth fell off its axis, and “The Novel Corona Virus” forever changed our lives. Looking back 12-months I think it was the fear of the unknown that was the most formidable sensation. 

You can click back here to see the editorial I wrote exactly a year ago. Upon reflection, I couldn’t fathom the amount of loss that we would encounter– and I’m not talking about economics. I still don’t believe we’ve  digested  the full extent of the pain and suffering that’s traspired. 

Despite all the ups and downs, I look back and feel proud of the work we’ve done. Sure it’s frivolous. Of course, it’s shallow. But it’s been a great distraction and incredible fun. Thank you for sticking with me over the past year. Thank you for the incredible support and the wonderful community that’s drawn closer together through trying times. 

For the coming year, I wish you an abundance of health, happiness and a few new pairs of good shoes. (Shopping and sales talk are below.)

‘How do I look?’ is always a loaded question. In most cases, the query is posed to seek validation. 

I most recently asked my teenage daughters about an outfit.  The sweatpants brigade, as I’ve come to call them, was not satisfied by dressed-up look. As I started to reconsider the components of my outfit, I raised my eyebrows –as best as I could– turned on my toes, and responded, “I like it, I really don’t care what you think.”

At this moment, I started to wonder if great fashion was a precise compilation of the perfect items or the confidence in that they are presented. Drag queens are famous for their dramatic and often over-the-top outfits but the presentation often projects as fabulous and fierce. Maybe we need to spend more time perfecting our presentation and less time fretting over the individual outfit components.

It seems cliche that this year is very different, but there is no way around it. One thing that seems to be emerging as tradition is the late winter sales, which include great discounts on outerwear and ski gear. This is usually when Moncler has its big markdown but we haven’t seen anything… yet.
