The designer sale at Saks Fifth Avenue started today. Discounts top 50% off but most items are reduced by about 40%. The best selection for shoe addicts is among styles from Manolo Blahnik, Alexandre Birman and Gianvitto Rossi. You can see some pictures that we captured from inside the store here. Those looking for Chanel sale at Saks can tap this way. There isn’t much that’s notable among the handbag markdowns but we are sure more will be added in the coming weeks.
The Bergdorf Goodman designer markdown isn’t scheduled to begin until tomorrow but you can get an early jump on shopping now. The sale section is live with markdowns. Below are our favorite sale picks. Take note that most European designers are not included in the sale, yet. We anticipate this to be a phase-in season. Stay tuned as more designers are added to the sale.
TheOutnet started a clearance sale where a very large assortment of merchandise is discounted up to 80% off retail. The selection can be overwhelming but we suggest you pay special close attention to the section of The Row, Victoria Beckham, and Pucci. Below are some of the deals we found.
Earlier this week, I asked a salesman at Bergdrofs about Chanel markdowns and was abruptly told that there was no Chanel sale. “We haven’t even started designer markdowns. IF Chanel goes on sale it won’t be until much later in the season,” he flatly responded.
I can never tell if these falsities are made out of pure ignorance or if salespeople think it’s okay to assume the customer is ill-informed and can be persuaded to buy merchandise at full price. Either way, this type of arrogance creates an environment of mistrust and should be avoided. The real responsibility begins at the top. It’s incumbent upon top management and brands to foster an exchange of accurate information and give the customer a sense of confidence. That’s how loyalty is created.
Chanel’s bi-annual officially opens to the public on May 25. Lots of presales and VIP previews are already underway. Chanel is one of the hardest brands to track during the markdown season. The company is secretive and riddled with rules that are always changing. We have come to learn that this season, Chanel’s bi-annual sale will open to VIPs today, Thursday, May 20. The sale will open to the public on May 25.
