Weekend Shopping: The Hermes Sale & More

The Hermes sale at Americana Manhasset took off without too much of a hitch. Considering last year’s fiasco, one would say this year’s sale was rather uneventful. Sure, there was “can I get you some coffee & sushi and join you in line” scam and the other woman who drove a guard to ask her if she was going to “eat her bag” for sustenance but what would a Hermes sale be without a bit of humor?

The assortments this year didn’t seem as plentiful as prior sales but most shoppers seemed to be satisfied. One thing to always keep in mind is that a good shopper buys things on sale to have them but a stylish shopper buys beautiful things to own them.

Moving on to hassle-free shopping, I’m still finding myself drawn to Fendi’s Vertigo collection. Tessabit has a great assortment at 40% to 50% off. I snagged a few more pieces but am so tempted to go back for another round. There are other great items in the sale section like this Saint Laurent tote that’s $654 from $1090 and Amini Muadi heels (size 6) for $418 from $929.

TJ Maxx started receiving new designer merchandise. There are a few cute Gucci options and we still really like this new Chloe Kiss bag
Earlier this week we uncovered some fresh pice cuts at Ssense. The discount is up to 50% off. You will notice that there are a lot of new markdowns and fresh merchandise in the sale section. You can click here to see an overview of what we found.

Moving across the pond, the Sicily-based boutique, Modes is hosting a sale where past season merchandise is discounted up to 50% off. As an added bonus you can use the code AUGUSTSALE20 to save an additional 20% off. All the top standouts are linked in this post.

Back at home, Net-A-Porter added new merchandise to its sale mix. You’ll notice that there are lots of Valentino items now discounted 50% off. Take note, sizes are limited among the most reduced merchandise but it’s never a bad idea to sort and scroll. See all of our favs here.
Farfetch is offering an extra 20% off a selection of past season merchandise. The extra discounts are activated once items are placed in your cart. You can see the full selection of qualifying items right here. You can see some of our top picks here
Remember, the Nordstrom Anniversary sale comes to an end on Sunday. It’s probably worth a final last pass through what’s included. You can see our original post here
Sale season is starting to feel a bit scrappy. This coming week we are going to begin setting our sights on finding deals on new collections. This is a great time to identify hot new season items and snag them for less before anyone realizes.

Net-A-Porter Sale: Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Balmain & More

It’s a little bit of a quiet period for sale season. We witnessed lots of waves of designer markdowns but the true designer reductions still haven’t flooded the market. It’s a wait-and-see game. In the meanwhile, we found ourselves browsing Net-A-Porter and happily fell upon a few finds. You’ll notice that there are lots of Valentino items now discounted 50% off. Take note, sizes are limited among the most reduced merchandise but it’s never a bad idea to sort and scroll. Here are our top 10 favorite sale finds.

Modes: Extra 20% Off Balmain, Balenciaga & More

Modes, which is located in Sicily, is hosting a sale where past season merchandise is discounted up to 50% off. As an added bonus you can use the code AUGUSTSALE20 to save an additional 20% off. The best bets are from Balmain and Balenciaga. Below are our favorite finds.

Hermés Sample Sale: Everything You Need to Know

UPDATE: Tickets to enter the Hermes sale will be distributed starting at 9pm, on Tuesday, at the entrance to the Hermes store. Names and phone numbers will be collected as the tickets are handed out. Shoppers will be able to return, on Wednesday, with their tickets and enter the store as their numbers are called. At last update, there will be 200 tickets distributed and as of 6:30pm, there were a reported 75 people waiting in line.
Once the sale opens, just 25 people will be admitted to the store at a time. Tickets will not be distributed for Thursday or Friday shoppers. Sale customers will physically need to wait in line to enter the sale to shop on both days. You can click here to see pictures from inside the sale

The Hermes sample sale at Americana Manhasset is back!!

We’ve been sitting information regarding the Americana Manhasset Hermes sale since last week but we were hoping for more additional clarity– especially considering last Summer’s debacle. (The real saga is outlined in the comment section of this Instagram post.) We will be sure to keep this post updated. For now, here is what you should know.

As always, there will be a VIP segment prior to the sale opening to the public on Wednesday, August 4. Normally, most items are 50% off and ready-to-wear is discounted a bit more.

This season, the invite outlined strict purchasing limitations. Shoes are limited to three per person but you can only buy one style of each shoe. The same goes for enamel jewelry and silk scarves and ties are limited to four for each customer. Last year, there were also shopping limits but they weren’t upheld. We aren’t sure we have much confidence that they will be abided for this season either.
Keep in mind that this is one of the few Hermes stores in the world that is not owned or controlled by Hermes. That means that you can’t necessarily count on the standards that you would expect from a top luxury brand.
We are still waiting for details regarding how the sale will be organized and how and when tickets will be distributed. Please check back and we will post more details as information becomes available. You can click here to see Hermes sample sale information from last year and the October 2019 sale at Soiffer Haskin.

    Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Nordstrom is known for having great sales. There are two in particular that can send a city girl shopping in the burbs: The “Half-Yearly Sale” and the “Anniversary Sale.” The Half-Yearly sale is clearance, usually towards the end of the season. (Like, now.) The Anniversary Sale is a presale before the new collection hits the department store floor.

Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale begins Monday at 3am for Nordstrom credit card holders. The sale consists of a catalog of pre-Fall merchandise that is discounted 25% to 40% off. Each department has its own special items that are featured in the pre-Fall sale. You can sift through the catalog options right here.

The presale t is limited to customers who have a Nordstrom credit card. Afterward, on July 28, the sale opens to the general public. Prices return to normal once the sale ends near the end of the month.

Back-to-school” items and baby gear are especially attractive during this Nordies sale. It’s interesting that more upscale designers have realized that pre-gaming sale season is better than post-season markdowns. Don’t forget to also check out the beauty deals. We are always a sucker for a new shade of lipstick or updated nail polish.

Most of the most popular merchandise sells out before the sale opens to the public. That might be enough incentive to open a card or find a close friend who already has an account. Above are our favorite sales picks. We will be sure to keep this space updated as new items are spotted.

    Bergdorf Goodman Final Markdowns

Bergdorf Goodman started its final markdowns. Discounts top 75% off. This is always our favorite sale as you can score some true designer treasures for little more than the price of fast fashion. If you can find your way into the store you’ll find an even larger selection. Below are some of our favorite pieces that are available online. Take note that size availability is limited.
