    Singles Day Sales Cheat Sheet

    Singles Day is the Chinese version of an anti-Valentines day. Really, what’s there not to love? Celebrating social freedom with shopping.

    The shopping-focused day was first started in 1993, by a group of Chinese college students, to celebrate the state of being single. The date November 11 (or 11/11) was chosen because of the ones– obviously. Elevens, according to numerology, is a “master number” which signifies intuition, insight, and enlightenment.

    We’ve started to think of Singles Day as ‘Treat Yourself Day.’ After all, we’ve never turned down an occasion to shop and buy something nice. Retailers are jumping in on the trend too. Singles Day is currently referred to as the new “Black Friday.” I happen to think lots of these promotions are better than Black Friday because the selection is so much better.

    There is really a great assortment of sales. So in light of this day of spiritual consumers, we’ll highlight some great places to shop and a few things we wouldn’t mind “single-ing.”

    YSL Price Hike; Where to Score Big Now

    Some might ask Trick-or-Treat but this isn’t a trick and there ain’t no treat from YSL. Today the French luxury brand started rollouts of price increases. Most items are up about 10%, which stinks but isn’t horrible. Other items, like the price of the popular Rive Gauche small size tote, is up to $1790 from $1390.  That’s about 28%– I did the math! The good news is that the huge Icare bag is “steady” at $4900 and the brand new release of the Le 5 a 7 hobo bag is the same at $2400. (Phew!) If you’ve been waiting to buy a YSL bag, we suggest you do it now and don’t wait for the holidays. The deals will dry up and you’ll be paying the Q4 2022 premium.     The Canadian retailer, Ssense is hosting a private sale where you can save 20% off a large assortment of designer merchandise.
