Saks Spend Some Get Some 7/24

The bonus gift amounts for shopping at Saks have been announced. They are not as generous as they were in May but a gift is still a gift.

Here’s how it breaks down for the Thursday, July 24th gift card “event.”

    spend $250-$499 –> get $25
    spend $500-$999 –> get $50
    spend $1000-$1999 –> get $100
    spend $2000-$2999 –> get $300
    spend $3000 or more –> get $450

    Happy Shopping!

    Neiman Marcus Extra 50% Off

If you have a few moments of surfing time, hop over to neimanmarcus.com. They are hosting an extra 50% off fine apparel already reduced merchandise (that’s the stuff we like). The selection is small but the products are stunning. The merchandise is already reduced 30% and another 50% brings the total savings to 65% off.

Most items are four figures long before the new discount and still kind of pricey. However, I would gladly take this Dolce & Gabbana belted bubble dress over a full priced Tracy Reese. Granted, this dress is not for everyone but to me it yells, “chic.” This Dolce was origionally $2,395 but is now about $775. Gulp. I think I am going to be passing on both the Reese and the red bubble.

    Jimmy Choo Sample Sale Undone

Friends report back that the Choo sale is a bit of a sneeze. This is how it went down– Press was given entry at noon, friends and family at 1:00pm and the general public had access at 2:00pm.

The prices are as follows: Shoes are $250 to $275. Boots range about $300. Exotic shoes are $375. The bag selection is small and range from $200 to $1100. The Mahala, photographed below, was $600.

There are no sunglasses but there are wallets, which are $100 for large sizes, $75 for medium sizes and $50 for credit card/business card holders.

The sale runs until tomorrow at 6pm. As usual I say–PASS!

    Valentino Friends and Family

I got the following email last week:

“Please let me know if you are interested in going as I need to add your name to a list as it is a private sale and when you go to the store you need to be discrete. This discount is 70% off.”

    This was attached:

Getting beyond that fact that this is an amazing sale. When do you get to shop Valentino for 70% off? All the rules and the “list” give me clubbing flashbacks. For some reason I am picturing a velvet rope and petite girls dressed in black, miked-up and carrying clipboards

However, I digress. This is a friends and family sale with a list. It runs for three days: July 17th, 18th and 19th. Only Spring sale items are included. This is a “privileged discount…so please be discreet.” (I’m sorry. That makes me laugh every time I read it.) New York, Los Angeles, Bal Harbour, Las Vegas, Palm Beach, SouthCoast Plaza, Boston, and Dallas are the only boutiques included.

You are limited to two day bags and three evening bags. So don’t think you’re going to be able to stock your eBay store for the next six months. Happy shopping and remember– BE DISCREET!

    New Barneys Sale Merchandise

When a store starts a sale, you go get what you want and figure that the selection usually gets worse with time. But no. Sometimes sales just get better as time goes on.

Living in a city like New York we are lucky enough to be in the heart of consolidation. It’s not out of the ordinary for other cities like Houston and New Orleans to clear out their merchandise and send it to the Big Apple at the tail end of sale season.

The Internet is also a great medium for blasting out product. Take Barneys, for instance. Barneys.com added a bunch of new merchandise to it’s site this weekend. Their sale started a few weeks ago but there’s lots of inventory that was not there even last week.

These silver python Christian Louboutin ballerina slippers were $950 but are now $380. Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t that 60% off? There are lots of other 50% and 60% off shoes and slippers to choose from. Take a browse. There’s no cab fare or gas usage for trolling online.

    Century 21 Clearance Sale

Century 21 is a very interesting breed of department store. Of course it is a discounter but I have found some of the most amazing things there. Take my $4k Prada silk and mink coat that I got there for $700 or the $400 DVF dress I found there in 1998 for $25. (It still looks great today.)

Some days it’s a hit other times it’s a bust and more recently the tourists make the store somewhat of a nightmare to navigate. If you have some skill for endurance, however, and a knack for weeding through what’s mostly junk you may find a surprising gem. Starting today, Century 21 is having their clearance sale where prices are guaranteed to be more than 85% off suggested retail prices.

If you really can’t take the crowds may I suggest you head out to one of their other locations. You can find details about their non-Manhattan locations here.

Jimmy Choo 2nd Markdown & Sample Sale

Jimmy Choo pushed the trigger button and reduced prices again from 30% off to 50% off. You’re still better off going to a department store where they have reductions up to 70% off at this point. Sometimes though, the selection isn’t the same and a girl (or guy) has got to do what a girl (or guy) has got to do– spend too much for something they love.

The sale is also running online. Click here if you want to take a gander. Only problem is that prices are quoted in pounds and it seems cheap until you do the currency conversion. That damn weak dollar!

In other news, there is a Jimmy Choo sample sale next week where shoes, bags and accessories will start at 60% off. (As I’m sure you can imagine–I would still rather go to the department store.)

Here are the sample sale dets:
    Tuesday, July 15, 3-8pm
    Wednesday, July 16, 9-6pm

    The Metropolitan Pavilion
    125 W 18 th street at 6th avenue

    Luxury Watches Friends and Family

Movado is the parent company of luxury brands like Ebel and Concord and also fashion brands like Juicy Couture and Lacoste. Pryced Wright sends us word that Movado hosts a friends and family sale three times a year. The discount is up to 60% off on all brands, which also includes Coach, ESQ and of course, Movado.

At the last sale, I am told that there was a limited edition watch where Movado commissioned Proenza Schouler to design a his rendition of their Museum watch. It had a “brown dial on a fantastic distressed brown leather cuff-size strap with antiqued contrast stitching,” Wright dishes. The retail price was $1,500 but it was available at the sale for $595.

Only challenge is you’ve gotta be willing to drive to their NJ office (650 From Rd., 3rd Fl., Paramus NJ 07652).  Load it up in your navigation system and you are road trip ready. I’ve always like the gold Ebel Beluga. Give me a shout out if you see one.
