    Sergio Rossi Sample Sale

Last week I heard news that Sergio Rossi is giving up their Madison Avenue location. I didn’t think much of it because so many stores are looking to leave their pricey locations, but more on that another day. Then I got information earlier this week about a Sergio Rossi sample sale. Also didn’t think much of it.

Then this afternoon I got the below email from a friend. It looks like Sergio Rossi may be going out of business.

    re: Sergio Rossi Sample Sale

Metro pavilion 4th floor. All shoes 50/boots 100. Men + women.
Tons of shoes but most of the boots and all accessories gone.
Great sale. Big space + everything organized by size. They are constantly tidying up so it isn’t a mess either.
I just left with more shoes than I know what to do with— and there’s no line now!!!!

    It was freakin’ unbelievable.
How they sold a boot marked $1050 for $100 and shoes marked $590 for $50 is amazing!!! Defies logic…
I want to go back….I can barely carry my bags now.

    Xx-C

    I must resist. I must resist. I don’t know if i can!

    Luca Luca Sample Sale

Luca Luca is hosting their second sample sale since September. This time around the sale is up to 75% off and includes Cruise ‘08, Spring/Summer ‘08, and Pre-Fall ‘08 (which is currently in stores) collections, as well as runway samples, handbags, and shoes.

The sample sale is in their showroom and runs from Wednesday, Dec 3rd until Sunday, Dec 7th. I imagine that if there’s something in the store that caught your eye you can find it here for less. The boutique’s discount is only up to 50% off and not much was discounted to the max.

As with many sales, the discounts tend to get better as the week wears on. The last two days of the prior sample sale had the steepest discount where pants were all $100 and skirts were BOGO half off. So if you have to, sit on your hands!

    Dec 3rd to Dec 7th
Thursday and Friday, 8:30am to 6:30pm
Saturday and Sunday 11am and 5pm

    Century 21 Vendor Day

What can be cooler than shopping at Century without the crowds? Getting an additional discount, of course. Tuesday, Dec 2nd marks the annual Century 21 Vendor Day where all of Century’s business affiliates receive 40% off.

The sale runs all day but there are specific hours for each merchandise category. For instance, clothing can only be purchased with the vendor coupon after 6pm. To assure that customers don’t go crazy there is a $1,600 spending limit and boy does that money fly especially when there’s 40% off already fantastic prices.

A coupon is necessary. So be be innovative. I know you can. After all, you were able to talk your way past King at Spy in the 90s.

    Retail Downturn and Cyber Monday

Just in case you were out-of-touch enough to think that all this recession talk was being over-hyped– It’s not! This weekend, one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year, I headed to one of my favorite stores– Target.
Every checkout line was manned with a cashier but the shoppers weren’t there. When I questioned the woman ringing me up she confessed that management was worried. According to Shyana, each cashier needed to take-in at least $4,000 in receipts per-day or hours their would be cut. This worried Shyana because if her hours were to be cut the holiday season would be a lot less jolly for her children. From shareholders to local cashiers everyone is feeling the pinch of Econ 101.

Speaking of retail sales, today is Cyber Monday! For the most part it’s the online version of Black Friday. eStores take this first day back from Thanksgiving weekend to offer special deals to holiday shoppers. Analysts say that online sales could be up in the low double digits on Monday, when shoppers are expected to make additional purchases at work using faster Internet connections.

Here is a link to the stores participating in Cyber Monday. Mad-Spy readers might take notice of eLuxury, which is offering shoppers 25% off on gifts. Most of the deals, however, can be found in the electronic category.

    Happy Shopping!

    Surprise: Gucci Sale

Last week we were wrote about Gucci’s upcoming first markdown. We were told that the sale was not supposed to come until December 1 but as we predicted the sale came earlier. Today shoppers woke up to a surprise Gucci sale. The discount is available online as well as in boutiques.

Like past first markdowns, the discount is 40% off most ready-to-wear, shoes, and handbags. Unlike past years, however, we wouldn’t be surprised if second markdown came before the stockings get stuffed.

    Neiman Marcus Black Friday

Neiman Marcus is hooking customers with an additional 40% off clothing and additional 30% off shoes. For some reason handbags are not included in the sale. Most items have already been discounted 30% to 40% off so the final discount ranges from 60% off to 65% off.

For instance, these open toe Louboutins started out at $1,125 but are now $528. Not bad, except that we were able to get the same shoe at the Saks sale for $338. Call us a bit spoiled but those shoes look incredibly more attractive with $200 taken off the price tag. You can get them now while they’re hot or wait until the season cools down.

    Bendel’s Black Friday

In honor of Black Friday, Henri Bendel is doing a two hour sale (8am-10am) where merchandise will be discounted and additional 40% off of markdowns. Our Bendel’s spy, James LaPorte says that there is a good amount of Missoni, Williamson, and Michael Kors Collection which is on 40% + 40%. (For all of our non-math majors that’s a total of 64% off.) Brands like Milly, Tibi, and Alice and Olivia are also on the same markdown. “A hell of a lot of HB Cashmere Sweaters are also on double,” he says.

Sales associates are only suppose to do the extra 40% for two hours, but James is planning on giving it to all his customers for the entire day. So if you’re heading to Bendel’s it’s worth seeking out James.
